During the time of the COVID-19 virus, we had the opportunity to have Bistro Menil's burgers...had never had them before even though we've been to this restaurant many times. Love everything we've had to eat here and was especially excited to taste what we think...was the best burger we've ever had! And, the take-out was so easy - we ordered and paid via phone and they brought it to our car and placed it in the trunk! Definitely try the burgers! They were delicious! The restaurant offers MANY Gluten-Free dishes, more than most restaurants..More

We have frequented Bistro Menil several times a month since it opened. We have never been disappointed from the time we walk in the door until we walk out. Starting with the servers, they are friendly, helpful, accommodative and if they don’t know the answer...to your question they will find it out tout suite. The menu is an extraordinary work, almost artful in its originality and execution. Not to forget the wine list, reasonably priced and created with considerable thought to each offering’s ability to pair with menu items. Some will comment about prices. My feeling is that genius comes at a price and, in this particular case, it is a bargain.More

I really like Bistro Menil. The decor is simple, modern, and clean. The main eating room is airy, and there is outdoor seating as well. I have never been disappointed with a meal!

Lemon tart is good but almond cake is superb. A place that can serve such fresh desserts on a Sunday afternoon is not to be ignored. Yummy!

This Bistro is adjacent to an interesting art museum but while enjoying brunch, I was totally captivated by the ambiance and quality of service and food, rendered here. In a word - Delicious.

The cappuccino was really good. $4. Cute little bistro. I went to see the Menil collection but they don't open until 11 so I sat and had a cappuccino quick.

This was our last dining experience at Bistro Menil. We have patronized it many times over the last few years, but lately it has gone from good to below mediocre. Yesterday the crab crepes were simply not good at all - not tasty, not well-prepared,...with little sauce. If we hadn't been dining with friends for a special occasion I would have sent them back. There have been other fails in recent visits - overcooked duck confit, very skimpy caviar on the eggs a la Julia, under-sauced dishes, blah quiche, etc. Service is usually very good and attentive. It's a lovely venue, but a shame about the lack of attention to the food.More

Just across the street from the Menil Collection, the Bistro Menil has become a stable dining option in the Museum District. The open, modern dining area lets in lots of natural light. The informal service could improve, but it is reasonably efficient. The selection of...small dishes is delightful, so you could make a meal out of several small dishes. The mains are, in general, good, although we found the duck confit somewhat dry and not particularly tasty. The chicken crepes were delicious and so were the crab crepes. The selection of wines is perfectly adequate for the place and the coffees are good (not taken for granted, since it is hard to get good coffee in Houston!).More

I went here with some friends for happy hour drinks and asked for a refill on my travel mug of hot water just before leaving. I was informed that I would be charged a small fee, to which I replied that was fine; however, when...the bill came I had been charged 4.00! First of all, what kind of place charges that price for tea, let alone water, when my drink itself had been just 5.00? Secondly, when I asked for a tea bag, since I had been charged for tea and not water, I was denied! I asked to talk to the manager because this was absolutely unreasonable. I am fairly certain it cost them about 2 cents for the electricity to hear the water. Thoroughly disappointed in this place and the management.More

If your visiting the Menil this attractive restaurant, just north of the main entrance to the museum, Is hard to miss though based on my latest visit I suggest you do so. The food is okay and while the prices are a bit high for...a quality I have found the convenience of the location worth the trade offs. That was true before our latest visit where things started out badly, the hostess was on the phone a full eight minutes while we and others waited to be acknowledged. After that it more of the same with long waits for any sort of service, but to be fair the wait staff unlike the hostess at least seemed to be trying. As noted the food is okay and the setting is attractive but with annoying service like this I will go elsewhere.More
