The food is delicious, the place is good and the employees are kind. I love the cinnamon apple croissant.

Ordered a pistachio croissant and a hibiscus lemonade.. Got them to heat the croissant.. It was delicious.. Doesn't taste too pistachio-ey..
ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was dense not light and fluffy like I would expect from a bakery. The gravy tasted sour or vinegary. Very disappointed. The general manager was no help. She offered me a gift card after her manager gave me...the run around and now I can't get a refund. She offered me a gift card, but why would I want a gift card to a place that can't make a biscuits and gravy.More
1) Croissant- Big, bland, more like moist bread on the outside, than what a real croissant should be2) Chocolate croissants chocolate had chocolate bars inside a bit like a twizzler(had to tear the chocolate with some difficulty...)Same boring, little flavor croissant wrapped around it 3)...Almond Croissant had another boring taste/texture with a super sweet, way too sweet marzipan filling... 4) Blueberry Muffin was with tons of berries and tons of sugar inside and on top...but basic muffin was not very good. I think is a Bag Mix, probably Dawn mix. Very commercial. 5) Chocolate chip cookie...mostly a heavy vanilla/sugar laden too sweet chocolate object, not much cookie, and not a great cookie basic mix...they can do much better with some effort. 6) PB Choc cookie had better cookie basic mix. Not too bad. Ok. 7) Pecan Roll was about unedible. One of the worst in the City. Now we come to the thin, little bit of apple, Apple Pie. Am I missing something ??? Was I supposed to BAKE THIS PIE AFTER I BOUGHT IT? IT WAS as if it was NOT yet baked??? The few apples in it were ok to eat if I took the crust and filling and topping away from apples. The rest was like an 8 year old girls first apple pie... I know these owners use fresh from culinary school employees to bake most if not all of their goods to save money, and they are taught how to make their products look a certain interesting way...BUT??? They have NONE of their products ready, recipe wise to actually be Houstons BEST Bakery...Can you say Houstonians, HOODWINKED !!! signed, Robert Wilson, past Top Chef from Santa Barbara, who created first Menu for the famous Wine Cask Restaurant, and created the legendary Meet The Wine Maker Dinner series...I have a CLUE about great/even good pastries. Stopped in - for baked goods - while out. Masks were required, husband and I readily geared up at the door. Couple people eating, but otherwise empty. Been coming here several years....never had terrible customer service until today. There were many employees behind the counter,...but the young woman who helped us was rude. She acted super put out by us deciding what we wanted. Rolled her eyes when I turned and asked my husband about an item. Seemed irritated that I said all items could go in the same box, as if I had broken some bakery rule. We want to spend our money at local businesses and support them in this economy. Everyone is suffering right now, and I was surprised to be treated as if my business didn't matter. I was so rushed I didn't even look at the second case of pastries or the bread, even though I was willing to purchase more. We then got home only to find that the quality had gone down a bit. The scone didn't have the right consistency of a scone...it was more like a cake. Same with the nutella croissant....the consistency was not right - too thick, not flaky at all. We will go back; everyone has an off day. But I was surprised, since they normally do much better.More
I finally got to go to the bakery, now that it is not impossible to get in lol. I ordered a cake for my husband's birthday, the double chocolate. I went to pick it up, and I was excited to see other little treats that...have to offer. Everything looked so good, especially the chocolate chip cookies, even though I was fasting, I was able to resist temptation, after we had a amazing cake to look forward to. I will need to return for those cookies, and the menu looks so delicious, I want to try everything, As for our cake, you can really tell the difference when quality ingredients are used. It was so good, it tasted like a hostess cupcake.More
This is one of my favorite go to spots from breakfast, lunch, or a meeting with clients. Their Chai tea is top of the line. I love their avocado toast for breakfast, and their turkey club on sourdough for lunch. Their desserts and cinnamon buns...are made fresh daily. I could find something good to eat here everyday at any time. Check this place out!More
This place is excellent for a pastry and coffee. Plenty of choices, lots of seating and delicious pastries. I got a decaf coffee and it was rich and flavorful. Even with a long line the wait was not bad.
Ordered cappuccino to go and was surprised how small it was compared to other coffee shops charging the same price. Measured the coffee portion at home and found it was close to a 1/2 cup. The coffee was strong and tastes good, ambience is good,...but to go service was fairly slow.More
Visited Common Bond Cafe on 12/2 and so glad I found this spot. Its a cozy little spot in Montrose. It was a Monday and crowded yet quiet. I was digging it. This is the kind of place that regular patrons don’t want others to...find out about. I tried to get there on time for breakfast and just missed it so breakfast turned to lunch. So glad it did because I ordered the Hot & Crunchy Salmon and oh my goodness. I ate EVERYTHING off the plate. I may just be greedy but my stomach is grumbling right now as I write this review. That salmon was too damn good. I kept talking about it to the point my family wanted me to shut up. Even the vegetables were cooked to MY perfection. I never eat all my vegetables. They were gone. Just do yourself a favor… Stop by Common Bond Café and have the Hot & Crunchy Salmon. Drops mic....More
