Nine Inch cake review

Online I had ordered three nine inch cakes for pickup at 10:45 am. Arriving at the Desert Gallery at 10:45 on Saturday I learned that they did not open until 11:00. I called and stated that my order showed a 10:45 time to pickup. The...manager said that was a mistake and that I had to wait, regardless of what my order stated. Not happy but ok. I told him that maybe they needed to fix their website. I ordered German Chocolate, Tofee, and Coconut Crème cakes. The Tofee was a good as always. The GC ok and the Coconut NOT OK. You would think that paying $62.50 for a cake that they would not be so frugal with the icing. The icing between cake layers was not even the thickness of a toothpick. The outer frosting was not much thicker. The top icing also has a really thin consistency. Even after hours in the refrigerator it was really gooey. Maybe next time I travel through Houston I will buy a cake from HEB instead.More

Great desserts

They have so many options to choose from. We picked the chocolate cake and the blueberry lemon cake. They had good coffee. They also had amazing vegan dessert options too.

Superb

Was craving for dessert so ordered for it. Cake was moist & very delicious,Also ordered for Cajun fries, these were hot & the flavor was perfect.

Mediocre Cake

My rating is actually 2 1/2 stars I saw the pics of the cakes and other goodies on the bakery's website and was expecting yummy, high quality cake. In person it all looked great and I went with the French Vanilla cake. Good quality vanilla...sweets made with real vanilla is much underated in my opinion. I paid just under $10.00 for a generous piece of French Vanilla cake. Not bad but it really on par with what you would get at your average greasy spoon dinner. I don't think it was made with top ingredients such as natural, rich butter and real vanilla. It was a bit overly sugary but laked the mouth sensation and taste that high quality baked goods give you. Not dried out but moist and tasty. I see that Maria B his the nail on the head. Next time I will try something else but I'm in no hurry to return.More

A decadent treat to eat in or take home. Very good service. I love the yellow layer cake with chocolate icing!

Good dessert, open late

We wanted dessert from a good place and it was late at night. This was practically the only option, but it didn't disappoint. Many, many pastries to choose from. We bought too many to list here. I didn't care for the self-proclaimed "World's Best" Brownies...(but I am VERY particular about brownies), and the S'mores Pie and Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chunk Cookies were only okay. The Double Decker Key Lime Pie, Carrot Cake, and Luscious Lemon Cake were the standouts.More

Really Beautiful Desserts

Let’s start with the bad. DO. NOT. GET. A. CAKE. They are beautiful, but not sure if there is anything in them but sugar. Bleh! The bars and cookies are really good but you can’t even taste any flavor in the cakes except sickly sweet....I don’t have diabetes but think I could be in a diabetic coma soon.More

Delicious Cake

Everyone at my party loved the cake. We order a graduation cake for my son. It was worth the high price. The cake was gone by the end of the evening.

Always Delicious

I ordered cupcakes and a birthday cake recently for my daughter's 14th birthday party. They were loved by everyone!! Dessert Gallery is my go to place for desserts for special events. I love how moist the cakes are. I also ordered the unicorn cake for...my daughter's 12th birthday and it was equally delicious. My daughter this year wanted chocolate on chocolate and I ordered the Mom's Chocolate Cake and it was delicious. I highly recommend that anyone that has a sweettooth visit this place while in Houston. I haven't had anything i haven't liked. My best friend loves the Strawberry Dream so i always get that for her birthdayMore

Big and Delicious!

Ordered a 14" Red Velvet Cake for a staff appreciation Had the venue where we were gathering cut and serve over 40 people and we had still a 3rd of the cake leftover. It really will serve about 60 people. The cake was beautiful, moist,...delicious and received raves from everyone. Took what was leftover home and it was even better the next day. Still the Sweetest Place in town

We have had a romance with this bakery for several years now. Every time we get to Houston for a visit we try to incorporate a visit or delivery from the Gallery. Their Lemon Vascheon is our favorite, but everything is absolutely without parallel. You...cannot go wrong with any choice. Love them to death...by chocolate. lol And the staff is super nice too.More

Great cakes

So, is it a place to eat often..not unless you want to gain a ton of weight...but is it a place to stop on your way home and pick up some delicious cake to round out an evening? Absolutely. Old Fashion Diner Cake..Red Velvet cake...and...on and on and on...its all good...More

Yummy!!

Very easy to order from with a good variety of offerings on their menu. Not too pricey; a good value for the $$. EVERY THING is always very, very fresh and delicious! The Chocolate Dipped Chocolate Chip Cookies are a sweet tooth's dream!! We order...from here regularly and are always very satisfied.More
