Nice fresh sandwiches made to order - excellent stuffed jalapeño. Quantities are not huge; everything is wrapped in paper or served in deco cups. The deli is old, with chipped counters, but clean. But an egg salad sandwich with tomatoes and lettuce costs more than 8 bucks. As long as your budget allows this, enjoy the old school pleasures here.....

Simple old school deli sandwiches. This is not a hipster fusion place but great deli sammies. Get the spread and dont forget the danish cheese

Nielsen's is a neighborhood deli, nothing great or fancy, but a place that provides decent food at a decent price. The main attraction for me to come here is to eat my breakfast or lunch at the small counter and enjoy the local Houston crowd. The potato salad is legendary. Read the wall notices about the history and the tradition... More

Great neighborhood deli with patient staff. The regulars will help you with the ordering process and even give suggestions on what is their favorite sandwich. You must try the deviled eggs.

A small delicatessen, with limited seating but good for picnics. The potato salad is exceptional as most people who go there enjoy it and it has been written up in the news, The sandwiches are some of the better in Houston. The suggested sandwiches are any on the menu. Restauranten er begrænset, men grand.

Neilsen's is an excellent deli. Everything they serve is good. But the one standout is the potato salad. It is heavenly. It is also expensive, but well worth it.

I have been eating here my whole life...literally, they opened in Highland Village a couple of years before my birth and we lived just blocks away. Their Danish fare is addictive, however, you must enjoy a base of mayonnaise because it is their signature. The breads are fresh, the meats are lean, the turkey is NOT processed but actual real... It is a small Danish deli with a very good potato salad that has a secret recipe, unusual and quite extraordinary. The sandwiches are equally as good, but the bread has soft crust which is a pedestrian standard for Houston. But the food is otherwise wonderful.

I had heard a lot about this place and I finally got to try it. I was disappointed by the food. It is possible that I had built a Utopian notion of the famous egg salad sandwiches and the exuberant potato salad and the reality just didn't match with my expectation. However I will attempt to explain my ratings here.... More

A little pricey. Fast service but no smiles from the staff. Good to grab and go because they only have a few bars tools to dine in. But definitely one of the best hole in the walls we have found in the area.
