We were excited to try an alternative tapas place. Menu sounded excellent. Unfortunately almost everything we ordered was tasteless (although the shrimp did taste bleachy!). The Poblano Con Vegetales was supposed to be served on a carrot purée but instead was a watery tomato sauce - double negative when you're allergic to toms and carefully order according to the descriptions... Great place for lunch or a romantic dinner. My wife and I went for an early dinner and ordered exclusively off of the Tapas menu. We had Piquillos De La Tierra, which are peppers stuffed with a ground, spiced lamb. Fantastic. We also had Codorniz Con Madeira Y Ajo (grilled quail in a simmered wine reduction), Morcilla Al Ajillo (a... More

Our group had a variety of the lunch dishes and everyone was pleased. We returned to the restaurant once more during our stay in Houston. Very enjoyable.

Had lunch with my daughter at this darling restaurant. Chic decor in a quite atmosphere. I had the Milanesa which was a breaded chicken with a wonderful caper sauce and fingerling potatoes with braised veggies--wonderful flavor combinations. My daughter said she and her co-workers have eaten there periodically and have always enjoyed the flavors and selection. There is a lunch... More

I had a cuban that was good and there were several tasty options on the menu, but lackluster service. Slow for lunch, but the vibe and service might pick up for the evening.

I've been to the restaurant several times and the food is so good. We had the seafood paella, which was really good, but it needed a squeeze of lemon to brighten the meal. We ordered the most expensive margarita because I don't mind paying for quality, but the drink was tasty yet weak on the alcohol. The is a wide... More

Had dinner here this evening. For an appetizer, we had the Honey-glazed Pork Belly; it was magnificent. For our entrée, we had the Paella. At $56 for two people, it was definitely overpriced, but it was also definitely good. Great service, and a great atmosphere.

We found El Meson to be incredible. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The peppers stuffed with lamb, raisins and pine nuts were amazing. Prices were more then reasonable. There are no end of other dishes I would like to try.

We showed up late after a movie and the restaurant was still busy. The wine list is excellent and the paella tasted just like it does in Spain but wasn't as long a wait. Atmosphere is tasteful, simple, and elegant. I've lived in Houston for 15 years and it's been around for awhile...I should have tried it much sooner!

This small storefront setting in Rice Village didn't prepare us for the interior amenities. Quiet setting with table cloths, a vast wine list and knowledgeable sommelier plus a varied selection of dining choices. Excellent Spanish cuisine but featuring tasty fish selections, Osso Buco and steaks. The salads looked delicious, too, but haven't tried those yet.
