Captain Tom's is a place that I'm sure I have seem in some food special on TV. It is a boat shaped oyster bar that also offers good fried seafood options. It is a great place to go to grab a quick casual bite to eat and have a nice cold beer along with it. The quarter's are a little... More

My husband is a self proclaimed "professional shrimp eater" so he knows good shrimp. Captain Tom's has great fried shrimp and everything else. We went to the East Freeway location and walked in to see the boat shaped counter service and figured we keep going. We started with the gumbo. Fantastic! Best I have ever had. I had fried shrimp... Came here to see if the michelada was really as good as I remembered from about 5 years ago and they are still doing great!!! This restaurant is awesome if you are looking for fresh seafood (shrimp / oyster) or even any fried seafood! Oh and the drink - you know it has to be good if everyone drinking it.... More

I had eaten at the old boat since the late 70s but this was my first time at the new one. It was still just as good as ever. Fresh oysters on the half shell were wonderful and it was prefaced with the delicious seafood gumbo. Since I now live out of state, I don't get to go to the... More

This is the new location just down the street. Same excellent food at good prices. I love the gumbo as it is a cream rue compared to most places that have a dark burnt flavor . Butterfly fried shrimp best I've ever had, can't go wrong with the Texas mini

Their gumbo is the best....mild and smooth. Very fresh seafood, cook to order. Fried shrimps and catfish. VERY Fresh Raw oyster and will give you extra pieces. Have very good michelada. The only bad thing is they only have two items that is not fried... Boiled shrimps and raw oysters.

The boat is a terrific place to have your favorite seafood such as oysters and snapper at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and service.

Great sized shrimp! with Cornmeal breading cant get any better than this. Definitely better than thick flour breading. I always get what i ask for every time, never changes or tastes different. Seating is a bit difficult. The line is for the interior part of the bar, if there are free seats around the outer edge you usually don't have... More

The owner started with one rrestaurant on FM-1960 years ago. Then one in Katy and another one east side of town. My wife and I have been regulars to the first two places, both a 45 minute drive from our house. Most of the time, you have to wait to get seated. Trust me, it's worth the wait. What make... More

We found this place on trip advisor while in town for work and decided to give it a try. The place is really cute on the inside but the seating is kind of awkward. It was absolutely packed and by the time we left the line was out the door. My friend and I shared the seafood platter which included... More
