I consider myself a pizza connoisseur. Star Pizza was recommended. We ordered a Chicago deep dish pizza to go (it was ready in 20 minutes). When we arrived, I also ordered a slice of hand-tossed (NY style) pizza to go. The girl at the counter said it would be another 15 minutes for the slice. So, we waited. $25 total.... More

I met my wife in Houston and Star Pizza was one of our favorite places, especially the Joe's pizza. We hadn't been in Houston together in over 15 years and decided to relive one of our favorite lunch spots and get a Joe's. It still lived up to our memory, which can be a difficult task. We look forward to... More

I've come to this location multiple times. It's located in an old house, which adds to the ambiance. Their deep dish pies are wonderful. I love that you can choose up to 2 specialties on a pie. Their lunch buffet is a great value, and they don't skip on quality toppings. It does get busy, and I've seen a wait... More

A great place to go to, to pick up or to order from. This is a place for real, cheese-heavy, ingredients-full pizza. Definitely not for the weight-watchers or the gluten-free thin-crust afficionados. As a matter of fact, I would recommend skipping a meal prior to heading there. The spinach pizza is my favorite but you can't go wrong. Order the... More

This place is a Local institution and we've never had a bad meal here. The food is always fresh and the whole wheat crust is the best!

My daughter and I went during the lunch buffet and really enjoyed it. The booths were painted very cute and the food was excellent. We tried pizzas that we normally wouldn't because everything looked so good. The salad bar was small, but had everything that you could want on it. The ranch dressing was delicious. We would definitely recommend going... More

Been going here since 1982. The BEST pizza ever. Can't go wrong. Salads are the freshest- sandwiches are amazing.

Have been eating at Star Pizza for over 35 years and it never fails to impress. The wheat crust is unlike anything I've ever tasted anywhere else. The sauce is good, and all the toppings are very fresh. The ambiance of the old building and the great service round out the experience.

Highly recommend, will definitely go again and again. We took family from Dallas, and they were very impressed. We got an extra large pepperoni, and it was just perfect. Waitress was very frinedly, and catered to the kids.

Established in 1976 In the summer of 1976, Henry "Hank" Zwirek and his buddy, Ed, both native Chicagoans, grew tired of living in the windy city and relocated to Houston. Hank realized the burgeoning city lacked high quality pizza and delivery service (which was a norm in Chicago). Acting on Hank's instincts, the two purchased a quaint two-story house on Norfolk and in October of 1976, a Star (pizza) was born.Business continued to thrive and Hank was eager to expand. In the summer of 1988 a second Star was born, affectionately named Star 2. The offspring of the original was located at 140 S. Heights Blvd. in the building that's now home to Chatter's.The original Star is still located in the house on Norfolk, and continues to offer the same homely atmosphere as it did in 1976. To this day the Zwirek family owns and operates both locations and thanks their loyal Star Pizzanites for their support throughout the years.
