My husband loved his steak salad, and my salmon and mashed potatoes was great comfort food after a medical center visit.

We have Sunday brunch at Raven about twice a month, and sometimes, like today, I'll meet a friend for a leisurely catch-up lunch. This is consistently one of the best restaurants that we visit in Houston, with warm service and food lovingly prepared with fresh...ingredients and a skillful understanding of what makes dishes memorable. You can never go wrong with any of the enchiladas, from chicken to sweet potato, and the fresh catch of the day selections are a perennial favorite. Dessert, you say? Raven has an incredible selection, and you will love the featured fruit tarts, wrapped in flaky pastry that melts in your mouth. Great wines and cocktails, excellent specialty coffees, and plenty of easy parking -- a miracle in Houston. Highly recommend!More

We ate an early dinner at the bar after running errands all day. Our bartender/server was Francois and he was a lot of fun. Great stories to share. It was like having dinner AND entertainment, too. He made an excellent Lemon Drop Martini. I had...not had one of these in about 15 years, but he hit a home run with it. We split a small Caesar salad to start. I had the Cedar Plank Salmon, my favorite dish here, and the husband had the New York Strip. A great restaurant in a great part of town (where there are no other restaurants around) with lots of free surface parking.More

We visit this restaurant probably once or twice a month. I think it continues to get better with each visit. The service is always attentive and professional. The restaurant is busy, but quiet enough to have a nice conversation. Last night I had the Halibut...special. It was so good! My husband had the trout, and it too was delicious. My son had the blackened catfish and he ate every bite. I like to order the peanut butter pie, but didn’t last night, but I think it is the absolute best dessert in Houston! Raven Grill also has great coffee, and their cappuccinos are perfect. This is one of the few restaurants that reliably offer skim milk! (Thank you!). There is a parking lot, no valet but there is no issue finding space. A delicious and reliable alternative in the Museum District area.More

The Raven is located in a residential neighborhood but on a major street not far from the Texas Medical Center. The menu offers many choices, but today I selected the balsamic vinaigrette strawberry spinich salad with spiced pecans and feta cheese. Several toppings were offered...and I selected the grilled salmon. The combination proved to be excellent and the meal was completed with a generous slice of moist carrot cake. Hughly recommended.More

I have eaten at the Raven several times when in Houston on business and always have had a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere. I would return there again without hesitation. The food is often seasonal which I like and the bar is good.

he group consensus was that the food was very good, the service was also very good, not spectacular, but solid enough to come back that's for sure. We really liked the atmosphere and it was quiet, so a real conversation could be held. The waitress...picked up my drink before I was done and the bar sent my friend the wrong drink Both of my cocktails were weak. The wine selection was very, very good and the prices were reasonable, for a restaurant. Lots of wines by the glass. So, when the hammer fell, I would say a “4/5”.More

We went there based on a friend’s recommendation. Noisy and small but I loved the “local”vibe. Good wine list, some unusual dishes—two of us tried the sweet potato and spinach enchiladas based on waiter suggestions. It was a good vegetarian dish but I would try...something different next visit. My adult daughter got the cheese burger and thought it was great. Creme brûlée was yummy but super small. Carrot cake was just so so. The desserts come from the bakery next door. Super nice wait staff.More

Raven Grill has been a consistent pleasure for years. We are always surprised when we go, which sadly has not been that often. Our recent visit reminded us of the freshness of the food (and generous portions!) and pleasant service. We will be back soon.

Business lunch paid by the other party who had a cheeseburger that looked good. I had a fish lunch special. I did not understand the species from the waiter but ordered it. I was able to figure out the species by its shape, texture, and...flavor. It was rectangle leatherfish. Ketchup helped. But for its shape, it could have been used as a hockey puck. I wondered if they had exposed it to radiation to get any residual flavor out of it. The side of asparagus and other unidentified long things was way undercooked and thus could have been used as small hockey sticks. We had some calamari up front that was quite good so I am not rating the place as terrible.More
