We have been dining at Houston’s Restaurant (now Hillstone) for over 20 years. Let me mention we are from Louisiana and this restaurant was always our first place to dine. We have NEVER been made to feel like we were not good enough to dine...in their restaurant. The hostess had to get approval from two different managers before we could be seated. This was st the Kirby Street Location. Probably our last time there. And it was probably due to the fact that my husband had open toe shoes; but he had foot surgery and he cannot wear closed toe shoes. But they made us feel like trash.More

The flavors that Houston's used to have made you go WOW! everything was seasoned perfectly, one never had to touch the salt and pepper shaker. Today, the food and plates were cold, hardly any flavor and the service just not as on point when it...was Houston's. Hillstone is way overpriced for average tasting food. Not recommended.More

Aaron was our waiter and he was the best waiter we’ve ever had. He made sure my husband had a rib cloth as soon as he was done, always refilled our waters to the top. Gave us more chips for our artichoke dip. Constantly checked...on us. This is the best experience we’ve ever had in our lives. Thank you Aaron!!!!More

Larry S. Houston, TX 03 11/7/2021 I rarely ever write reviews but Lulu's was so impressively over priced and underwhelming I feel compelled to write this incredibly negative review. At 1st glance the restaurant is physically beautiful although the menu is limited. The service was...also good right up until we were served drinks, salads, the entre and then presented with the bill. We were overcharged on 4 separate items on the bill. When I asked the waiter he said "sorry... that's the way it is!" The charged $4 extra for "an extra shaken martini... we asked for it shaken very hard so that ice chips were at the top" so they charged $4 to shake the martini. My wife ordered grilled Branzino. She swapped out the standard side items for grilled carrots. This was a swap out and they charged us $6 more for this. I asked for a healthy salad without fattening dressing. I asked the for plain balsamic vinegar and to make sure there were plenty of tomatoes on the salad... again a $6 extra charge. My entre was the most expensive item on the menu, Black Angus Tenderloin. We are trying to eat healthy and I asked what could I swap for the Polenta that came with the steak. The answer was grilled carrots. Again my 5 pieces of carrot were $6 extra. We were charged an additional $24 literally for nothing. Again when we asked the waiter he was matter of fact and said "that's the way it is... sorry". Dinner for 4 was a whopping $337.77 plus tip. This was the 1st time we dined here but I have now been there twice... FIRST and LAST! Don't waste your time, your money or your evening... they do not appreciate anything other than your credit card. Thanks. Larry SMore

We are a large family. We made two separate reservations. Two tables, two checks, two everything. The tables weren't even next to each other. We even arrived at different times. The hostess decided that, because we knew each other, we qualified as a large party...and refused service. Not only that, she did it in the most demeaning, aggressive and unnecessarily rude way possible. Never going back to a place staffed with people like that.More

This Houston's is now called, Hillstone. Whoever took over this location is doing a fantastic job. The food is the same as before and the service is excellent. We were so relieved to find one of our favorite restaurants is still the same we have...come to love over many years.More

They are now known as Hillstone, but have many of the same menu items as Houston’s. Have always loved Houston’s artichoke spinach dip and this didn’t disappoint. Have also always enjoyed their ribs and they were very good as well, as was the suggested wine...pairing. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.More

Too bad nice location and atmosphere but if you are looking for Houston's try Meru's!!! The food is not terrible but not what it used to be; my family will not be going back as there are too many great eats in greater Houston metroplex!!!

Visiting Houston, always had to visit Houston's. No longer. This new management - "Hillstones"?, has really made a mess of things. Several menu items unavailable, the rib eye inedible. All this for two prices. Service OK, except for the incompetence of the greeter. Give these...thieves a miss. And go to Meru's, a bit of a slog over in Uptown Park, where the real crew has taken up residence with the old Houston's menu.More

Look for the phone in the...Houston’s webpage to be sure wss open, could not find it listed. I guess because now is Hillstone, hope they maintain the good quality and food.More

As with a couple of recent posts, we, too, have been coming here for a while, but something in management must have changed when they changed it from Houston's to Hillstone. The manager came across and told me that cell phone use isn't permitted, but...I wasn't even talking on my phone (even though people at two tables nearby were). And, sandals are no longer permitted for men. The food is generally very good as is the service, but the managerial attitude tonight was ridiculous and the service was scattered with multiple waiters for the same table. Let's be honest: the atmosphere is generic and the fare is far from fine, e.g., cheeseburgers, fried fish and chicken sandwiches, etc. to somehow justify the new haughtiness previously unexperienced here. There's just no need from such pretention and unprofessionalism. Sadly, we'll go elsewhere from now on.More

This place does not want your business!!! I tried calling in a to go order. They said you have to go to the website. Which I did, but they only had 2 entrees listed. I called back and they said they were about to sell...out and that’s why not on website... total BS!! I then drove there and they did have what I wanted.. BUT you cannot get French fries to go!! They are worried about quality??? I told them I didn’t care and they still would not let me order Frend fries. I tried ordering for dine in and they said they knew I was going to take to go and they would not let me!!! I HAVE BEEN GOING HERE WEEKLY FOR YEARS AND NEVER WILL AGAIN!!!!More

I have been a regular patron to this establishment since the 80’s. I sat at the bar to have a meal. I received a phone call shortly after sitting down. I was socially distanced on either side. I had to take the call. It was...brief. Shortly after answering call, I was give. This card that says “Please! Respect other diners by taking your call outside. Thank you.” In the time I sat there, I watched two other patrons take calls and did not receive a card. I think it’s disrespectful to approach the issue in this way. They would do better by placing card on table or the info on the menu beforehand. I don’t feel like coming back here. My father was in ICU with covid and I take all calls related. I never usually answer calls in a public place. I’ll text. Disappointed to say the least.More

After SO MANY negative reviews which primary are the result of COVID impacts on the business, I wanted to say that Houston’s is back and they have adjusted. All COVID protocols were followed, my wife and I felt safe, and our experience was excellent. Our...food was great. We had the smoked Salmon, ribs and rotisserie chicken. Very good and the service was good too. Still a great restaurant.More

Not bad. Some tables better than others, but for a busy restaurant, relatively quiet
