We made reservations at Charivari Restaurant for lunch on Christmas Day. This place was one of the few restaurants in Houston open on Christmas Day. The food as well as the service were pretty average. We won't be back.

Charivari cemented its position as one of my two favorite restaurants on the planet at a visit in January.  Although my wife and I have enjoyed Charivari since it opened when we lived in Houston years ago, Chef Johann Schuster continues to explore, surprise and innovate.  On this visit to Houston, we simply said feed us in four courses, and... My wife and I tried Charivari before the theater and just loved it. It's a small restaurant and the chef/owner and his wife both came by to visit with us, and they were very helpful with the menu. It's pretty unique for Houston, and they were very helpful with gluten-free options. Most of their entrees were either gluten-free or they... More

We truly enjoyed everything about Charivari! Chef Johann and his wife are delightful. They made suggestions to us, and we loved every course, including the wine. The food was delicious! The Restaurant is warmly decorated, and quiet. It is nice to be able to take your time over Dinner, have a nice conversation, and to be able to hear your... More

Absolutely delicious! We both enjoyed the lunch special of Chicken Marsala w/spätzle. First the bread and salmon caviar cream cheese spread, then a beautiful, fresh, field green salad topped with house dressing followed by the entree of Chicken Marsala covered in a mild but flavorful mushroom gravy accompanied by homemade German spätzle. Also included was a dessert of blueberry sorbet.... More

Went with my mother-in-law and husband for Thanksgiving. What a treat; the turkey was truly wonderful, moist, the best I have ever had. Everything was on point from the pumpkin lobster bisque to the stuffing and green beans. Service was great and we had a leisurely 3 hour meal. I love this place and have been many times. It 's... Our family had dinner there last night. Kiváló! ‘a Charivari is a special occasion with much banging and bell-ringing typically at weedings’. Not so much banging but what a wonderful place and by far the best European restaurant we've discovered in Houston so far. An eclectic mix of Hungarian, German and French cuisine. Owner-Chef Johan from Transylvania and his German... More

My wife and I went here on a Saturday night. The restaurant had a very cozy European feel to it. They had an extensive menu with a variety of dishes including German and French. My wife and I shared the charcuterie plate which was excellent. She had a seafood dish with salmon that was cooked to perfection. Crusty on the... More
