Yesterday my wife and I made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner at Tony Mandola's for 5 PM. It turned out the reservation was not really needed as we were just the 3rd couple in the restaurant at that time. But we were happy with the timing just the same since we stumbled into their Happy Hour pricing. I... More

This place is consistently right on the money. Service is wonderful, bar seating is really great if it's just you or a couple. They've been around to know how to do it right. I've never gotten anything bad here. We'e come alone as a couple, with a group of friends and family and as a business lunch with our staff.

We had a Groupon for a 'fixed-price menu' lunch for two. The choices were fish, seafood or chicken with two choices for a salad and a desert each. Both entrees were delicious! My husband had grilled trout and I had crawfish ravioli. The servings were ample (I took some of mine home.) The deserts were large and very good. I... More

This is an upscale restaurant specializing in Cajun style food with a touch of Italian. I enjoy Cajun food and this place is among the best. Been to other Cajun restaurants where the food was over spiced or overcooked and ruined the meal. Not here. The kitchen staffs know what they are doing. Seafood is always cooked just right and... More than the location has changed at Tony Mandolas. It was very good, but different. I remember the Cajun coleslaw as smother with some Cajun spice and alittle more shrimp. The mixed seafood grill was also good ,but the scallops were below their normal standards. The banana key lime pie, however, was just as delicious as ever!! Change is good, but... More

Was one of my favorite restaurants when I lived in Texas briefly 15 years ago. Always get the Cioppino which is great and a dozen oysters. Banana Key Lime Pie is out of this world.

The food tasted really good but the service was not what was expected for this quality of food. I don't know if she was new but it hurts the experience when you gave mediocre service. The mother/daughter next to us had to contact management twice because of the service. It is really a shame because the food was very good.

Last night was a beautiful night with the kind of weather where you just must go eat somewhere with a nice patio. After some thought, we picked Mandola's as we 1) knew it had an outdoor patio; 2) we had been to this restaurant many times throughout its three locations in Houston; and 3) we love the food. So, off... More

Wanted a special place for a birthday dinner for our party of six. Walked into a place that felt more like an O'Charley's than any sort of special occasion restaurant. I think this interaction with our below average server sums it up: Us: "Where are your oysters from?" Waiter (as if he's never been asked this before): "I have no... More

Easter Brunch was great with my husband and 11 year old son. The adults had Crab cake Eggs Benedict and my son had spaghetti and meatballs. All were great. Dessert was wonderful. Love the atmosphere. Elegant but not haughty. Noise level is perfect. We had a wonderful time.

Description
In 1982, we opened Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar on the Gulf Freeway, which we owned and operated for 22 years. A second Tony Mandolaʼs Blue Oyster Bar debuted on Shepherd in 1984, which he closed four years later in order to open our famous West Gray Tony Mandolaʼs flagship location. Our lifelong dream of owning a freestanding restaurant has now become a reality with the opening of our new, permanent Tony Mandola's location at 1212 Waugh Drive. We take great pride in serving what we think is some of the best food on the Gulf Coast. Everything is homemade fresh in our kitchen daily and many of our dishes are our Mamas' recipes. God Bless our Mamas and God Bless you for your patronage.“Dedicated to the preservation of the art of Mamas' Cooking.” Sincerely,Tony & Phyllis Mandola
