When planning to go to this restaurant for lunch, my friends and I expected it to be a little fancier. We were visiting from out of town and heard great things about it. Although not fancy at all, the food was delicious. There was a great variety and the sauces for the BBQ were great. I enjoyed the sides as well. The customer service was great. I have no complaint. Will definitely return the next time I'm in Houston.

It was good, okay barbecue. I had the dirty rice and bean sides which were both good. BUT I did see a liquid smoke bottle… not a good sign…

I only got veggies, Lima beans and mac & cheese, both delicious. We also ordered a pork plate...it was huge, two sides come with it. Lots of choices. Very convenient to NRG Stadium and Comfort Suites hotel.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am a 53 year old man who was born and raised in Texas. Since I was a child, I have had great barbecue from restaurants to backyard grills all over the state. I have even had barbecue that I didn’t think was very good, but I still ate it anyway. Today was the first time in my life that I had “barbecue “ so bad that I couldn’t even eat it. It was fatty, undercooked, and was obviously not a good cut of meat. The sad thing is that today was my first (and last) time visiting Pappas Barbecue. I had high hopes, but they were quickly extinguished upon my first sight and bite of the brisket. If they were competing in a barbecue contest, it would get the blue ribbon for “the worst” barbecue. Hopefully today was an anomaly, but I will never know if it was or not. I’m not a glutton for punishment. It was that bad.

We were the only ones in the dining room. After 30 minutes I had to ask about our order while four workers played behind the counter knowing we had paid and unfortunately we had left a tip! Kicker was there was a supervisor sitting in the dining room giving them there individual reviews! She needed a review - to pay attention to her surroundings. Food was ok. Nothing to get crazy about. Zero friendliness.

Located across from NRG Stadium. The Pappas Bar-B-Q menu is great, I got the combo platter. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. Just the smell of BBQ

Our family loves Papas BBQ!! We ordered pickles, onions, jalapeños and BBQ sauce , but they weren’t in the bag ! What a disappointment! When asked we were told it was in the bag! I wish we could have it delivered ASAP! But oh well! Next time we will double check ! Not the same without pickles and onions !!

The papas bbq downtown needs to remove Consuelo off the serving line. She is too slow! It took 30 mins to get through!🥲

This Pappas is always busy - it's near the stadium so on days of big events it's difficult to get in but on weekdays we go there for lunch often. I take out of town or out of country guests there to try the pork ribs - wow they're amazing! The other offerings are good including the chicken, turkey, sausage and pulled pork. They have a few different suaces espresso, mustard and 'sweet' - the sauces are ok but not my favorite but they're good enough and the meat is fantastic. The serving sizes are large and most plates come with two sides - i don't know what they put in that corn but it's delicious. We go often and look forward to next visit.

Loved the food and the staff were very polite a courteous. On our 6 day trip we went to Pappas twice it was that good. Recommend the beef ribs and brisket and they even do collard greens very well.

I am from NC where we are known for our BBQ. So I have BBQ sauce in my veins instead of blood. And anytime I visit a city or state known in the BBQ wars from their tasty 'Q I have to try it. So when we had to make a quick trip to Houston, I told my hubby we had to have BBQ before we left. On the way out he insisted we go to Papas. This location is right beside of the stadium. We arrived around 330 and there was a nice sized crowd inside and a line at the drive thru. We walk by the smokers assuring the meat is smoked on the premises. We go up to the cashier and place our order. They have a variety of BBQ here including pork selections. Which is the prefered meat here in the Carolinas. But I am in Texas so I have to try their renown BBQ brisket. My boo got a plate with ribs, sausage, and brisket. Then I got a side salad..which was huge..and beans while hubby got a baked potato that is as big as a baby's head!! That potato alone was a meal. Then there is a nice fixins bar with all kind of sauces and peppers, pickles, onions etc. And each order comes with a piece of white bread. OK good, we do that in NC. When we pick up our meal..oh my word the portions are HUGE. I mean things are bigger in Texas. I cant wait to try and this did not dissapoint. Again..oh my word this is divine. I probably had over half a dozen slices. We had enough that I made a sandwich out of my remaining pieces when we returned home and the rib was huge. My next door puppy was quite happy with his rib bone. I have zero complaints here. Other than I dont have one here in SC. Hubster tells me this family owns a quite a few resturants around and they own more than just BBQ. There is plenty of parking. And again yep they have a drive thru. I can imagine later on in the evenings and during an event next door this place will be packed to the gills. So plan accordingly. If you are a BBQ connoisseur and want to try some TX BBQ..this is the place to go!!

My family picked up food for a quick lunch in between appointments while visiting Houston. The Baked Potato was huge and it was topped with the tangy and tender BBQ Chicken that was wonderful!!!

This was originally Luther’s Barbecue, which was bought out many years ago by the Pappas chain of restaurants. Although quality has declined, I still went there, but my last 2 visits were a bridge too far. The beef ribs, once huge. are now skimpy and full of fat. The once legendary bar-b-q sauce is now sweet and greasy. The signature mustard potato salad has been replaced with an industrial mayo-based salad, which I’m convinced is delivered in large vats right off of a Sysco truck. The once great carrot cake has so much sugar and raisins in the batter that it is an overly sweet gooey mess with no cake-like appearance...the cream cheese icing tastes only like sugar. I understand why they serve it so cold : so it won’t fall apart. As for the once delicious NY-style cheesecake: change of supplier and now so sweet as to cancel out any other flavors. What the heck happened to this place?!? Make me sad. The original Luther must be rolling in his grave. R.I.P. Sad to say, but after being a loyal customer there for over 30 years, I won’t be returning.
