This is a must visit place if you are downtown Houston for any length. Specialty foods at it's finest. Pastries, salads, sandwiches, bread, you name it, they have it. It's a pleasure just to roam the aisles. I bought some flat bread that came rolled up. It was almost as big as a yoga mat. Got some chicken salad and... More

Phonecia is an oasis for the downtown area especially for lunch. They have a variety of prepared healthy meals and made to order Mediterranean dishes. I love their cheese selection and a huge array of imported drinks and goodies. Just beware it comes with a sticker price. Not cheap. Lots of indoor seating, I wish they have a patio or... More

I was staying at a nearby hotel for several weeks, and I would go here at the beginning of the week to stock up on food - hummus, house-made pita, specialty drinks, fruit salad, etc. Not only are they a grocery store, they have plenty of pre-made foods, a coffee bar, and a huge bakery counter (try the chocolate tres... If any of you out there remember Eatzi's this reminds me of Eatzi's. I love their bakery and hot & ready selection. Brunch at MKT Bar is excellent but a little pricey. I recommend the queso blanco on skillet potatoes with eggs. YUM.

My first visit was during the week of Super bowl events at Discovery Green. The lines were so long at the food trucks that I decided to give Phoenicia a try. I really enjoyed the fresh tasting food. I had pizza on my first trip and sampled a lemon tart. I went back for 3 samples. My second visit I... More

I would visit Phoenicia when out on the west side of town and am glad there is now a location nearer to me. The fear is always that a new location might not be up to the original location in standards, but we have not noticed this to be true. We have shopped for groceries and eaten food to take... More

I was thrilled to stumble upon this market/cafe. It is about 2 blocks away from the convention center, which, like most convention center areas, mostly caters to business travelers. Since I stayed at a hotel with a kitchenette, this was the perfect place to pick up some treats for the hotel room. It is much like a Whole Foods, but... More
