We enjoyed a good selection of wine and beer at this cash only historic building with a juke box and the lore of ghosts.

We would recommend trying this interesting historic wine bar. Good music on the juke box and a good selection of wines by the glass. Cash only service.

So, there are a few things you ought to know right off the bat about La Carafe. It's old--purportedly the oldest standing building in Houston--and it shows it. It's beer and wine only. It's bar service only. It's cash only. If you're fine with all...More

Stopped in for a quick glass of wine. Good wine. That’s as much as I can comment on other than it’s a pretty cute place and quite old I am told?

A must visit in downtown Houston! Great location and a Houston landmark! Make sure you go upstairs and take a gander at the city at night! Stunning views of the city lights!

Came across this place after watching a parade downtown. It's dark and dingy, but it has a great atmosphere, good music, good beer and wine, nice staff (only one person working, but she coped extremely well being so busy). Really loved it and will defiantly...More

Funky bar, oldest bar in Houston. A piece of history!!! Lit up my candlelit. Very relaxed & friendly, not pretentious at all. The bartender was very attentive, and great bar to start up conversations with random people. Right in front of market Square Park, great...More

Great old space, dark and full of character. Decades worth of initials and names carved in the bar. Bartender was friendly, did not get a negative vibe at all. There was even incense burning, with drip candles, so kind of a 60s feel- almost European...More

This place was so dark. You felt like you were in New Orleans. They have a good beer selection and friendly staff. It is supposed to be the oldest bar in Houston and haunted.
