If you liked Danton’s, then you will love Eugene’s. Great atmosphere and the same excellent food and service.

I hosted a dinner here for 18 guests last night. Eugene's did not disappoint. From planning to execution everything was perfect. The service was spot on and the food is fantastic! They have a great wine selection and are willing to accommodate picky eaters. The atmosphere...is cozy and it is quiet enough that you can have an easy conversation with people other than those sitting immediately next to you. I will definitely be coming here again, both for large events, as well as a romantic dinner with my husband. Highly recommend.More

My wife took me to Eugene’s for a nice birthday dinner . We had a reservation for 6:30 and when we arrived the hostess kindly mentioned the happy hour option which lasted til 7 . We traded our intimate table setting for a seat at...the bar and it was absolutely our best choice . Lisa Alexander(bartender) mixed the best margaritas on the rocks and I ate 1 dozen of the tastiest oysters on the shell that I’ve eaten in years . I had a catfish dinner afterwards and my wife had a barbecue shrimp dish both to our delight . Lisa shared some interesting history about the venue which made my birthday celebration truly special . We can’t wait until they start serving brunch and look forward to many returns . You can also wear(U Jeans) to Eugenes !More

Ate there Saturday nite after anxiously awaiting the recreation of Danton's for months. It was worth the wait. It's more Galatoire's than Gaido's, Two of the 5 at our table said 'don't remember when II had a better meal'. I had gumbo(chicken & sausage), red...snapper w/ lump crab meat, and a desert that was half key lime pie, half cheesecake. Delicious!!!More

We arrived early for our reservation and were seated promptly which was a great break because Happy Hour specials are really good values. $5 wines- $.90 oysters- and for the heat lovers there were crab stuffed jalapenos. Dinner was a mixed bag- red beans and...rice were scrumptious as were the shrimp and grits. The stuffed red fish was overdone while the snapper special was much better. Now, here's the problem. The special was VERY expensive in comparison to the regular menu and of course they don't tell you. If cost is a concern- ask!More

Great restaurant in a neighborhood location inside the loop. Service is good. Their crab cakes made with claw meat is some of the best we have had. Raw oysters in the 1/2 extra good. P:rices are reasonable.

This is a new restaurant and we were very pleased, The owner, Kyle Teas, owned Dannon's Seafood prior to this. The menu is the same and the food is still delicious. The service by Terry was wonderful and we will be back!

In the past, we had enjoyed this restaurant when it was named Danton's, which was in the "South Montrose" area of Houston. They had to move, and reopened further north in Montrose and the owners renamed the restaurant Eugene's Gulf Coast Cuisine. After reading a...favorable review in the CHRONICLE, we decided to give the place a try. We arrived at about 2:15 pm Saturday, and were seated. The decor is pleasant, and after what seemed a longer than acceptable time, our water glasses were filled. Then after another longer time, our waiter finally took our orders. I ordered the Calimari with Marinara sauce, and my wife ordered a bowl of Oyster Stew. Both dishes were delicious and quite abundant. The service got a little better, and finally we finished our meal and were ready to leave. Again, it took awhile to get our waiter's attention and to get our check. On one hand, it was not an unpleasant dining experience, but not great like our last visit to the "old" Danton's. We found the service at Eugene's slow and when craving Gulf Coast Seafood in the future, we'll probably go to Goode Company No. 3 which is much closer to our house. Also, when I compared their respective menu's on-line, Goode Company prices appear to be a slightly lower.More

We have been waiting for Eugene's Gulf Coast Cuisine, the new interation of Danton's, to open. We were very happy to see that our favorite menu items were available on the new Eugene's menu. We ordered the Stuffed Shrimp and Salmon Salad. Both were delicious....The sides of Ocra with Tomatoes and Mashed Sweet Potatoes were as tasty as usual. We have really been craving them and they were great! The food a lovely temperature - hot things hot and cold things cold and fresh. The staff was very attentive, from the hostess, to the bartender, to our waitress and other servers. The owner was also there making the rounds. We suggest you make reservations as the bar and restaurant were very busy. A lot of old customers have been waiting for the new restaurant to open, and a lot of new customers were checking it out as well. That way you will be sure to get a good spot.More

Kyle was nice enough to pay us a visit and see how everything was going. Although the service was good, they need to (and we hope) they improve on several things. I personally enjoyed my sea bass but, like the other main courses, the food...was not hot and plates were not warm. The table bread was dry, lukewarm and the butter was lackluster. They need to find a different bakery. Garlic bread was not good. For a place this 'up-scale', they also need to improve on the following items: -The butter should be on a porcelain plates, not a plastic container -No straws in water glasses -Bread plates and Appetizer plates are not the same thing. Bring separate plates for those items. -The waiter, when he/she brings an entree or next course, do NOT flick off the dirty knife at someone's place setting on to the table. Take it with you and get another clean knife. Everyone at my table noticed when the waiter did this.More
