My girlfriend and I went to the Vintage Park location on Valentine Day’s weekend (Feb 15th to be exact).
When the waiter asked me for my drink, I ordered a margarita on the rocks, and asked him to make it a strong one. My girlfriend...got the same.
After 10 minutes, our waiter mentioned that he had gotten some middle of the road tequila. I didn’t think much about it. Our drinks came shortly thereafter which took a total of 15 minutes. They filled a glass about 8 inches tall. They were good but nothing special. When the bill arrived, I was speechless; we were charged $50 for these 2 margaritas. Obviously, with a more upscale restaurant, I knew it would be expensive, maybe $20 each, but this was outrageous.
At the same time, I asked the waiter if I could substitute a side item for my coleslaw which came with my shrimp scampi. He said that they could not do it because the kitchen was busy and a substitution would confuse them. I would have been fine with “no” as an answer, but not a lame excuse like this one.
The food was good, the atmosphere average, and the service was fine, but the pricing was outrageous and a rip-off. They lost a customer.More
We come to this area often for business but had never tried this restaurant. Never having tried South African food we decided to give it a shot. We were all amazed. We tried the sampler as well as several different dishes to get an array...of meals to see what they offered. The staff was helpful and explained everything. The food was out of this world amazing. We loved every dish. We will be back on every trip going forward!More
One of the best restaurants in Houston. You can't go wrong with any menu selection. Try brunch if you are not sure about the food. You can sample a lot for less money. The service is always superb. Make a reservation for Friday and Saturday...nights. Excellent selection of wine.More
Had dinner here on a business trip in an effort to escape the mundane. The server recommended the signature chicken dish (basted chicken skewer), which was very good albeit enough food for nearly two with its rich, but tasty, sides. Many items on the menu...looked intriguing; I would come back to sample more. Service was spotty. My server "disappeared" towards the end so I had an extended wait for a box and my check. The interior lets you escape the mall.More
I just finished the most wonderful birthday dinner with my dad. It was my first time at Peli-Peli, and my parents definitely did NOT over-hype the place. What a treat! The cocktails are wonderful, the food is to die for, the ambiance is the perfect...balance of upscale without being uptight, and the service is impeccable. Julie, our server, was energetic, attentive, and never once made us feel rushed. It felt like we were her only table despite the fact that the restaurant was full.
I will definitely be back to Peli-Peli and I recommend it for any occasion, from date night to a rehearsal dinner to a Tuesday evening “just because” happy hour and dinner. And definitely ask for Julie!More
