Both the food and service are high level here, and you can tell they put a lot of love and attention to details here. Definitely get the green salad, the lamb dumplings, and the Nancy Cakes. The squid ink pasta also was a great dish....You should come here when in the Houston area, highly recommend.More

I had been dying to try Nancy's Hustle, and boy was it worth the hype. The food, customer service, and vibes were amazing. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical at first because the menu seemed limited, but Nancy's Hustle proved me wrong. We...ordered plenty of items, and we were stuffed and satisfied when we left. I'm pretty upset we didn't order the infamous Nancy Cakes, so next time! Parking was limited, so if you live in Houston, I'd just pay for an Uber, rather than stress about parking. Food: -Parmesean and pancetta croquettes (3/5): This wasn't my favorite, but they are served HOT so be careful when these come out. -Squid Ink Linguine (5/5): OMG this looks strange at first because of how dark the linguine is, hence.. squid ink.. but it was delicious! -Cheeseburger (4/5): There cheeseburger is served on a brioche English muffin, which is different but super juicy! -Lamb dumpling (5/5): HANDS DOWN THE BEST ITEM ON THE MENU. It was like a mixture of Italiano and juicy goodness. -Roasted Zucchini (2/5): Wasn't a huge fan of the zucchini. -Lamb Tartare (4/5): So fresh and so yummy! Will definitely be returning!More

Probably some of the best food and absolutely the WORST dining experience I have ever had in Houston! I have been wanting to go to this restaurant for about a year and finally got a reservation last night. First, my boyfriend and I arrived on...time for our 7:00pm reservation but were asked to stand outside until our table was ready for "safety" reasons. Once inside, five minutes later, the tables were so socially-distanced that the restaurant felt hollow. We were seated at a cozy table in the back room, and before we ordered our cocktails, our server Robert spent the next ten minutes informing us about the restaurant's COVID policies, one being that we had to leave our table after two hours at 9:00pm... based on the time of our reservation, not when we were seated. We ordered our cocktails (a creamy Classic Cosmo and a refreshing Spritz Witch) which arrived around 7:30pm. Robert then informed us that we needed to review the menu and "strategize" what we wanted to order... we weren't sure what that meant. We later figured out that strategizing meant that we had to order and eat within our allocated time limit. So, we reviewed the menu, ordered a nice bottle of red wine, and "strategized" that we would start with two appetizers to share, followed by a couple of main dishes. The Nancy Cakes, which Robert described as cakes made of bread, were actually savory corn cakes, similar to a Johnny Cake, served with whipped butter and smoked trout roe and were creative and delicious. The crispy Duck Dumplings were cooked to perfection and seasoned with warm earthy spices. For the mains, we ordered the Duck Ragu tagliatelle pasta and the pan-roasted rockfish, which arrived around 8:20. The pasta dish was decadently rich, and the fish was fresh and flaky with a perfectly crisped skin. When Robert brought us the dessert menu at 8:50, he reminded us that we had about ten minutes left before we had to depart the table. When I asked if he would seriously kick us out at 9:00, he said "yes". Not because of COVID but because they wanted to turn the table. We each still had an unfinished glass of wine and obviously no time to order dessert. We opted to skip dessert and finish our wine, and at 8:57, Robert began hovering around our table. I noted to him that we still had three minutes before our departure deadline, and Robert sarcastically replied, "You are SO considerate." We gulped our wine with one minute to spare and promptly left. We had such a terrible experience that despite the delicious meal, we will never come back to this place.More

Are you a serious foodie? If you haven’t been here yet then stop debating and get on with it! The menu is short enough but with sufficient selection. Pretty much every dish has a butter base which makes the food rich and tasty but not...overwhelming. The Wine list is incomprehensible because they’re nearly all organic. Luckily however most don’t taste organic. Dane our server was really excellent when it came to advising what to eat. He was the man!More

Where should I start! Nancy's Hustle is quite the find. It is my favorite Houston restaurant! My wife echoes my sentiments. I am a recent transplant to the city and my wife is a Houstonian. We both agree this is the place to go! It...truly checks all the boxes. If you are looking for great food taken to another level, search no more. If you are looking for a spot with great drinks, Zach is your man! If you are a stickler for customer service, prepare to be blown away! Whether you have the pleasure of meeting Bethany, Chris, or any other of the phenoms prepare for well informed service with character. Each and every visit has been a pleasure. The ambiance compliments the wonderful staff and food. The ever changing menu provides a different experience each time, regardless if stopping by for drinks or food. Items I do not normally order are often tried during visits. My wife loves the "Gem lettuce" which has anchovies. This is the only place and time where she indulges in such an item. Remember this, if you see "Rabbit Wings" on the menu, do not hesitate on ordering them. Words cannot describe the sauce and perfection this dish achieved! I can honestly say we have tried 80%, if not more, of the menu! There is not amiss here. Conservative options which are great - the burger, the wood grilled chicken, Nancy Cakes, etc. I recommend going with friends and ordering various items to try them together - TRUST ME, YOU WILL THANK ME LATER!!More

This was close to our hotel so we walked there not knowing what to expect. Fantastic food, cocktails, service and ambiance. Had 3 starters to share all natural and made on premises, happy hour helped the cocktail and dessert was bliss...poached caramalised pear....

This restaurant is a MUST GO! A friend from out of town suggested it. We met there around 5:30. Perfect timing! It was Friday night. They do take reservations but we didn’t see anything in the timeframe we wanted but saw there was a bar...so decided to take a shot. Best.Decision. Ever! They got really busy and there were people standing and waiting for their table when we left. But it wasn’t over crowded to loud and no one was cranky or unpleasant. Great vibe!! First aesthetics: the decor is clean and simple yet inviting. I hate soft surfaces in restaurants because they get all stained and nasty. These are “hard” surfaces but comfortable and inviting. The space is long instead of wide and has substantial bar space. We did sit at the bar and it was quite comfortable. Enough room to actually eat your meal and apparently enough room for wait staff to get to all the other tables in the place without bumping into you. There seems to be ample floor seating but I can’t speak to the comfort of floor seating in terms of spacing. There is good music playing BUT, they manage to understand that you’d like to have a conversation with your dinner companion(s) without yelling like you are at a club. THANK YOU! Next food: I’m sorry I didn’t take photos. It was phenomenal! We decided to just sample several of the small plates. We had the brussel sprouts, lamb dumplings, Nancy cakes, pickles and croquettes. We could not SPEAK everything was so amazing. The lamb dumplings and pickles have a bit of a spice to them. Nothing overwhelming. Just right. The Nancy cake ... well you just have to try them!!!. The pickles also have a bit of kick but the pancetta and cheese are an amazing combination (just trust me...sounds strange but the pairing is incredible) and the “pickles” are carrots and cauliflower and some sweet peppers and onion. These small plates are enough for two to share and we were stuffed and could not finish the pickles and croquettes (the last two plates we ordered). Oh, and the croquettes... crunchy outside and creamy, rich texture on the inside. The sprinkled cheese (tastes like a great aged Parmesan) on top gave a fantastic tang as well. Finally service: when you go, sit at the bar and ask to sit at Zach’s station!!! He is AWESOME! Not only did he talk to us about the menu and the food choices, he was able to recommend cocktails that would pair well. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted but felt like I wanted something with a bourbon base and asked Zach to surprise me. The two different drinks he made me were fantastic! The first one had a lemoncello like liquor added and was topped with nutmeg and the second had a grapefruit infusion. He will make it as boozy (or not) as you like. And he’s funny and knowledgeable and attentive even though he was constantly moving. At one point he was even giving a recipe to another person on the staff as he was making drinks and talking to us. He never misses a beat and was never unpleasant. So in summary: Awesome food. Incredible service. Charming and comfortable atmosphere. WHEN you go (not if) sit at the bar at Zach’s station. You will be glad you did!!!More

Nancy's Hustle was recommended to us as a great foodie destination in Houston. We were not disappointed. We could only get a reservation for 8.45pm, but that worked out really well. We were not rushed through our meal, and our waitress had time to chat...about cocktails and the dishes we'd ordered. The restaurant is open until midnight, and while it quietened down as our meal progressed, there were still new tables being turned over while we were there. Although modern in its sensibility, we did not think the restaurant was too loud and we were able to have our dinner conversation without screaming above the din of the background noise and music. For two, we ordered only from the small and medium plates, and desserts. Our waitress told us the menu changes frequently (although the lamb dumplings and chicken liver mousse are mainstays). We had (in order) the lamb dumplings (delicious strong lamb flavour), parmesan and pancetta croquettes (basically parmesan cheese sauce breaded and fried - YUM!), gem lettuce with sherry vinaigrette, anchovies and pancetta (great acid hit to refresh the palette), squash cappelletti with toasted hazelnuts, brown butter and blue cheese (an equal top dish of the night), roasted mushrooms with pureed broad beans and turmeric (an equal top dish of the night), and chicken liver mousse with mostarda fruits and paratha (the other equal top dish of the night, but if the vote were left entirely to me, this would have been the top dish of the night - the chicken liver mousse was smooth and unctuous, but balanced with a firm iron hit, the mostarda fruits nicely agrodolce and the paratha an exemplar of the flaky flat bread family - easily one of the best rotis / parathas I've ever had. Two of our three top dishes were vegetarian, and it is easy to put together a complete vegetarian meal. For desserts we had the parmesan cheesecake with honey and black pepper (more savoury than sweet, almost like having a cheese course. The texture of the cheesecake was very light so it wasn't stodgy at all), the Meyer lemon cream with meringue and satsuma sorbet (strong Meyer lemon flavour - lemon without the acid/sour note; but light and creamy and very well balanced) and pinenut, brown butter and brown sugar fancy cakes / petit fours. We'd skipped lunch, so this was a generous amount of food for two, but we didn't feel overwhelmed by the amounts of food in each dish and it also meant we could try several dishes without worrying that it would be too much or there would be any waste. The drinks list is extensive. We each had a cocktail, and respectively a glass of the house chardonnay and house cabernet. Good value and intelligently offered wines. I can't recommend Nancy's Hustle highly enough. It was redemptive eating - cleverly designed dishes, prepared with obvious expertise and care, and right-sized servings.More

YES. My friend and I ate a lot of good food in Houston this past weekend. But I don't think I enjoyed any meal as much as our dinner at Nancy's Hustle. It was kind of perfect? First of all, the food. We shared four...dishes (three and a dessert), which was PLENTY because a couple of the dishes were really rich and we shared a bottle of wine as well. We wanted EVERYTHING, so it was a little hard to narrow the menu down, but we did. We started with the lamb dumplings with spicy tomato vinaigrette, labneh, and crispy garlic chips. DELICIOUS. The dumplings were like Turkish dumplings (manti). Small but mighty. I didn't find the tomato vinaigrette spicy and it seemed thicker, more like a jam than a vinaigrette, but the whole combination of the dish was excellent. I'd eat it again. Then we had the Nancy cakes with whipped butter and smoked trout roe. The Nancy cakes were like fluffy mini pancakes? Airy and light and really delicious with the butter and roe. Again, I'd eat it again. Maybe right now. Then we had the chicken liver mousse with peach mostarda, fenugreek leaf, and whole wheat paratha. This was probably my least favorite dish just because it was so rich (between the liver and the very buttery paratha) that I couldn't eat as much of it. But very delicious. Might be better to share with more people than two. For dessert, we had a labneh tart with persimmon and hazelnut. Delicious. Not too sweet - the labneh kept the dessert tart enough for me (I can't eat those sickly sweet desserts!). The wine menu was really varied and interesting as well. We asked our wonderful waiter for a recommendation on a bottle of red and really, really enjoyed the Corsican wine he recommended. The service was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and modern. We used a ride share, so I can't speak to the parking. We did have a reservation for dinner, and I'm glad we did. It was packed on a Friday night around 8:15 pm. Overall, this was just an excellent meal: interesting menu, delicious food, good service, good wine. I'd go back tonight if I still lived in Houston.More
