We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Their Sunday entrees come with three sides, instead of two on their regular menu. The Beef Stroganoff soup was fantastic! The chicken fried steak was real steak that was hand breaded -- not that chopped up and formed frozen kind you get sometimes. Mashed potatoes were the real thing, too. Apple cobbler or cake was one of the side choices. We picked the cobbler and were very pleased. The cobbler dough was crisp and delicious. We will definitely be back!

With better atmosphere this could be a good place to eat. Waitress had an indifferent mood, neither rude nor friendly. The food is ok that leaves you unsatisfying. The Meh is a perfect word to describe this place. But coffee wasn't bad.

First time to eat here was last night. We live in Georgetown but were in the area with friends for a square dance. I had the senior catfish plate and the berry cobbler. Delish!! Hubby had the philley cheesesteak sandwich which he really liked. Others had fish also and enjoyed. My only complaint was the service was pretty poor but will return as food was good.

I've had two visits and have been pretty much ignored on both occasions. The first was all you can eat catfish which by the time I got it was not hot and a small plate and I never saw the waiter again for a refill. The second time it was almost empty and had 3 wait staff. I took 5 minutes to bring me a menu and my meal sat on the ready shelf for 15 minutes while my waitress meandered around the floor. Neither the cooks or the other wait staff who looked at my order said anything to my server and when she finally brought it, I refused it and walked out.

We were there for dinner. I found it to be expensive. I had a turkey club and it wasn’t fresh turkey. It was some kind of cheap turkey. A real turkey club is made with fresh turkey and the onion rings were overcooked. My other guest had chicken tenders and said they were very greasy.
Staff was nice but was not be back for the food.

The food selection is good. Lots to choose from.
The staff was friendly and took care of our drinks and needs.
It’s a nice size dining room. Has that old time Diner and Cafe feel.
I had breakfast with my family.
I had the Country Skillet- Chicken Fried Steak, Scrambled Eggs, and Home Fries topped with Gravy and two biscuits.
My daughter had The Trash Can Omelet - Combine the Meat Lovers - Bacon, Ham, Sausage and the Veggie - Bell Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Black Olives and Tomatoes with Cheese and Jalapeños. Side of Salsa and Sour Cream and Grits
My Middle Grandson had The Strawberry Pancakes Combo - served with one Egg, two Sausage Links, and 2 Strawberry Pancakes.
My youngest Grandson had the Pancakes Combo - served with one Egg, one Sausage, and 2 Pancakes.
All the food was served fresh and hot.
We also had coffee that was good.
I’ll have to come back and try more of their menu.
It seemed a little on the expensive side. But it was really good.

My wife and I stopped at Papa's Cafe to grab a quick bite. We had heard of it but never been. The service was great and friendly as well as the food. We enjoyed the down home atmosphere that welcomed us in and felt like we were at our family's place. Papa's is a must.

Went on a Friday night for the all you can eat fish for my husband and senior fish for myself. We were immediately greeted and when seated our drinks were brought and order taken. Eleanor was our server and she did an outstanding job of keeping an eye on my husband's catfish, bringing refills right when he needed them and most importantly, keeping the tea glass full. Food was fresh, hot and great. Will be going back, especially on Friday. Ask for Eleanor if you want fantastic service.

Went here because it was rated so highly and wanted a local feel since relocating to Texas. Got the creamed beef over toast with hash browns and scrambled eggs. Very delicious and cleaned my plate! I can see this place being so popular along with friendly staff willing to help you...must stop in again for other goodies I saw on the menu.

Great home feel with good portions. Great staff. Easy to find and always feel at home. The prices are not bad at all. Older place. Could see a renovation but that doesn't stop the great atmosphere.

This place is family-friendly and offers daily specials for under $10. Each entree comes with 3 sides (includes desserts and salad) and rolls or cornbread for the table. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. This place is next to the Harker Heights Driving School off of Miller's Crossing. If you're stuffed, take a walk to the Carl Levin Park just around the corner. It has a nice walking track, playground, and pokemon for those Pokemon Go players. For dessert, there is an ice cream shop on the corner of the plaza connected to Papa's Cafe or across the street is Freddy's Frozen Custard or Bahama Bucks. A diamond in the rough.

Breakfast at this place is actually alright. That's because eggs, sausage, and bacon can't be easily bought pre-made off the back of a food service truck. Dinner is a different story. Almost every item on the menu is instant, canned, or frozen. I'm pretty sure the mashed potatoes are the same cheap, institutional-grade slop that school cafeterias use.I could (and have) gotten better quality meals from the frozen food aisle at the grocery store for less money.
The food Papa's serves is not "home cooking." It's not even "cooking." Reheating ready made items that were bought in is the ultimate in lazy.
