I came here for the chili based on the reviews, and I had high expectations, which the chili promptly exceeded. The temperature of the chili was served hot (not warm or lukewarm), which I appreciate. The chili was served with a whole, fresh jalapeño on top. The chili had a very savory base with just the right amount of cheese... More

Great yummy, Texas style chili, like grandaddy used to make. Yum! Fun atmosphere too, and good for group parties.

I honestly think that Tolbert's is an average restaurant with an exceptionally good product - their chili!! Love the donkey tails because I am a junk food lover at heart! Service has always been pretty good. Pricing is fair for downtown Grapevine.

Tolbert's is a Grapevine institution. They serve classic Texas dishes and have a casual vibe. I ate there with a group of people so I got to sample many different things. Loved the chili and the donkey tails (beef franks wrapped in flour tortilla and deep fried) are fabulous. Salads are fresh and tasty, plus they have a wide array... More

We only ordered a bowl of chili as I am a native Texan and enjoy a good bowl of red. It was good but a little on the greasy side.

Beer options seemed more extensive than the food, so that sets the stage. Our group had 3 chilis - and servings seemed small for the price. My catfish sandwich was nicely breaded and fried properly - but the bun overwhelmed the 1 filet- fries were the side - for $10 sandwich I would haven expected a choice and something green.... More

Lively restaurant with live bands, hot chili and cold draft beer. Highly recommend this historic downtown Grapevine original.

I've had canned chili better so that was a huge disappointment. There was no real flavor and very watery. We got appetizers and plates in a wide variety and none of them really stood out as something I'd want again except maybe the sides of macaroni. In the end the price wasn't worth it.

Located in a beautifully restored old building in Old Downtown Grapevine, the atmosphere is as good as the food. The original owner was the founder of the Terlingua Chili Cookoff, so obviously chili is their go to. Loved it. Also had the burger with chili. Flame grilled with lots of chili on top, quality meat and bun, it was delicious.... More
