Excellent fresh authentic Thai food in a clean “hole in the wall” dining room. The staff so friendly and helpful. Would absolutely make the drive back. We had the Sweet and Sour Stir Fry , Red Curry with Chicken, Stir fry sweet chili with Thai...with Chicken, Shrimp Fried Rice. The spice level was just right. The only thing we would not reorder would be the fried rice as would have liked more vegetables in it. Of note the take out orders business was brisk while we dined in.More
On a Friday night and we didn't feel like cooking at home. We wanted to try something new instead of our usual "go to" places. We saw that this place has Thai, Lao, Vietnamese and Cambodian food, so why not try it? Don't expect anything...fancy. It's in a strip mall and the dining room is very bare bones. But the food was great. We both tried from the Thai menu, and -- I believe she was the owner -- was very helpful and knowledgeable. The food is made to order, and it was so fresh. The spice level was a bit more than what I'm comfortable with, and I had asked for medium spice, so next time I'll ask for little or no spice. Still, it was so good. For dessert, we had a purple rice with mango and coconut concoction that cleared our palate and killed the remaining heat in our mouths. This was our first time here, and we're glad we came, because it won't be our last. Still have to try Vietname, Lao and Cambodian cuising.More
This is a great place to try some things that you might not find on the menu at regular Thai restaurants. Standouts: Chili Basil Fish, Hot and Spicy Edamame, Sticky Rice with Custard, Pad Thai We ordered the Pad Thai with glass noodles and tofu—I...like that you can get this variation and the flavor was very nice. Also their special: chili basil fish. The fish is a white fish and is fried and crispy and tossed in their sauce with bell peppers. The fish was delicious: great flavor and nice and crispy. I like that they don’t use cheap tilapia like many places. It was so good we went back again a couple of days later and ordered the chilli basil fish again. We also tried the drunken noodle with crispy fish. The fish was good, but the noodles were only fine. Nothing special and a bit lacking in flavor, so we might try something else before ordering that again. I usually wouldn’t order edamame at a SE Asian restaurant, but the spicy edamame is tossed in a delicious sauce that is spicy and salty and flavorful. I would like to always eat my edamame like this! The sticky rice with custard dessert is really good. You don’t always see custard on the menu with sticky rice at SE Asian places, and this place does it really well, with a nice black sticky rice. Very reasonable price for the dessert.More
Not a very big place, however, the menu is extensive. I would recommend multiple trips to try everything.
I am told that Sabai Sabai translates to "chill" or laid back. That we did. My wife and I visited August 31, 2019 (establishment had been open about a month). Simple, clean interior with table seating and takeaway in a commercial "strip" of businesses along...Hall Johnson Road. Delivery using Uber, GrubHub...Order at the counter and food is served. Quickly. Expect simple but effective interior. Drinks from cabinet or delivered from kitchen (hot tea, Thai tea..). No fountain type drinks or conventional iced tea. We started with the Lemongrass Beef Skewers and the Sesame Tofu Skewers. Both had quality ingredients and generous quantity. Beef was especially tender and tasty. Ice water was served quickly and I eventually grabbed a can GingerAle from the cabinet. Entrees included a Cambodian dish (C2 - Stir Fried Noodles with Pork) and a Thai dish (T9 - Masaman Curry with Tofu with rice). Both dishes were good but the curry was particularly pleasing. Great sauce rich with peanuts, potatoes and tofu. As with many Asian restaurants, one can choose the protein (tofu, beef, chicken, pork or shrimp and a few fish dishes). And order the Sticky Rice Custard for dessert - lovely black rice topped with a thick, sweet coconut milk and served with several slabs of delightful egg custard. Lovely. We met the Proprietors (a young couple of Laotian descent) - their Auntie is cook in back. They had all apparently recently relocated from Rhode Island to Texas to open new restaurant. Very pleasant folks with very tasty, well presented, authentic SouthEast Asian foods at reasonable prices. The food is the main draw here - expect a simple interior with wooden tables and chairs. Not exactly quaint or cozy but once again, the food followed by great service are the main attraction. And the fact that one can sample Thai, Laotian, Cambodian and a few Vietnamese dishes is appealing. We will return.More
