Warm, soft and great flavor! Service was fast and attentive. And by the looks of other diners plates...breakfast dishes are well proportioned.

When we spend the weekend in Giddings for the Lee County Charcoal Challenge & we always go to Mel's for Breakfast. Then Western Omelette is sooo good and is a great price. I have never had better than this. One of these days we will try Lunch but haven't because we eat at the Charcoal Challenge. Can't wait till May!

By far the BEST place to get a filling breakfast in Giddings!! Open early and I think they also serve through lunch as well. Great place and friendly service

I stopped in for lunch. Decided to go with one of the lunch specials: Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, cream gravy, Texas toast, & dessert. Steak was thin but tasty, real potatoes, veggies (probably frozen but) well seasoned, gravy great. Still haven't figured what the dessert was possibly some kind of crisp. However for the price I thought... More

The waitress was very friendly. We all ordered breakfast. The food was great and my husband raved about his omelette. The restaurant is small but that's ok. Everybody seemed to fit just fine. Seems to be a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Oh, and don't forget to pick up some fresh baked pastries for the road. You won't... More

Mel's diner is housed in a doughnut shop. Pretty cool idea really. Want something quick got it, want to sit down and eat a full breakfast we got that to. When we pulled up we were not even sure they served actual breakfast or were just a doughnut shop. As cool as this idea may be, the food left a... More

We went on a Sunday morning for breakfast. The food was great, the service was a one and the place was clean. Only problem I saw was that the place needs to enlarge!

Mel's was recently sold as the owner retired. The new owner has completely remodeled it. The menu is the same. They are only open until 2:00 most weekdays, and later on Sat and Sunday. They make a good breakfast, and wonderful croissant breakfast sandwiches. I noticed the Mel's sign is gone now, but it says breakfast and donuts. Try it.... More

Waitress ignored us. She did the least amount of interaction with us. Never came back to see how things were, did we want anything else, would you like a refill on that coffee? Nothing. I guess it was her way of telling us to leave. Food okay. Someone told me there'd been a knife fight there.
