We came in with a huge party and they were able to easily and quickly accommodate us. The staff was very nice and the food was good. Really great service. Ample parking. Popular with locals. I recommend the Tex Mex platter.

Our order north of $75. Consisted of phone order of one two lbs of beef, 32 oz of guacamole, 16 oz of refried, 32 salsa and chips, two side orders of bell peppers and onions, flour tortillas, three sm salsa (comes with). We regularly frequent...this closer establishment and or another more distant Mexican restaurant & now finally having to address consistent short comings and can no longer tolerate the order to go. The order at pick up was not checked by the person whom wrote the order, the bag was tied in a knot, and the receipt was not itemized. As well, I added a tea while I waited and received the order in good faith. Once home opened the order, no 32 ounce salsa or chips, called back only to be treated ugly, called names in Spanish and told we were wrong. Ok, so once realizing no way could the salsa fit with our order in the one bag I carried out, I will return with photos and a recording of the rant from the employee’s name calling and give witness to the establishments owner in the morning as good as the food is the trouble isn’t worth the go for. We won’t be going back as the further restaurant is, well, better all around.More

We were “wowed” by the service the younger gentleman provided. He checked on us 8 times in twenty minutes, never ceasing to ensure the warm chips and delicious salsa were full. My corn tacos were drool worthy. They even upgraded my meat to carne esada...per my request. It’s feels much like a family ran restaurant which I always support and enjoy. I’ve eaten a lot of Mexican food and this place deserves to be in big nice fancy building, but who am I to complain. Additionally, the pricing was more than generous. If your a first timer, and in need of a ice cold beer, bring your own. They don’t serve alcohol but allow BYOB! 👍🏼More

Reasonably priced. Excellent food. Friendly staff. Two locations. Mid town and West of town by hospital. Alcohol served at El Tap by hospital but I prefer mid-town locale. Breakfast is awesome. You won’t be disappointed.

We stopped in here the other afternoon for s late lunch. It was obvious they had had a busy lunch crowd, but was mostly empty when we arrived. The service was great and the food flavorful and attractive. By the time we left there were...several more tables. We will definitely return if we pass this way again. PS. The leftovers were equally good!More

This place is a must stop in Gatesville! Excellent food and quality service. I had the flautas and they were delicious. For breakfast I had the chorizo platter and the cactus and egg taco for the road and all was very good. I will most...definitely come back to EL Tap!More

This place is one we frequently visit. We absolutely love the salsa. Yes there is better food and salsa in other cities but in Gatesville the salsa is the best.

It was worthwhile to get off the highway as we traveled down hwy 36. They had several good choices. The food was well prepared & served without delay.

We stop at El Tapatio when in Gatesville for breakfast. I always order migas with fried potatoes, refried beans and amazing salsa. My husband orders the American breakfast with hash browns. The migas are amazing and my husband finishes all the food on his plate....The place is amazingly clean. With such reasonable prices and excellent food, why would you eat any other place in Gatesville?More
