Place had decent reviews, but it was that appetizing for me. My friend enjoyed her meal, I'd come back and try their pizza pies but the stuff chicken Daniela was a disappointment

We had a great lunch at Mario's and the variety of entrees was great! We originally went for their pizza but found out about their buffet for $10.99 all you can eat. I recommend the chicken dishes and their lasagna was awesome. The staff is very friendly too.

First, we all loved the bruschetta; I would come back just to order it, but the service was beyond bad. There were 8 in our party. However 3 people, after a very long wait, received their food. Over 30min later the other 5 received their food. No explanations or refilling of drink glasses during this time. It even took an... More

I took my family a few days before Xmas. Ask to sit at one of Ana's tables. She will take great care of your service. She is a sweet, hard-working, professional kid. She will keep an eye on what you need, without interrupting your conversation every five minutes. Most of our group ate from the buffet, which had a huge... More

We had lunch here yesterday. The Marios Special was excellent! I also had a locally brewed beer that was pretty good. The service was also good. I would definitely recommend Mario's for pizza and I'm sure the other dishes are quite good as well.

The best pizza in the area. It is expensive but was excellent and went back the next day and ordered a meatball sub, again exspense but it was very good. I paided $12.00 for a small cheese pizza. The secret to a good pizza is the cheese, Grande is the best cheese you can buy for pizza and 50% low... More

After being in Galveston 3 days and eating several seafood meals, we decided to stay in a night and order pizza. Large Mario's Special was very filling and a few pieces left over. We picked it up and inside the restaurant, the pizza guys were right up front, tossing dough and even threw to the kids watching. The rest of... More

We had the seafood mixed grill and Texas redfish. It was delicious! Will definitely eat here again when vacationing. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. We had 3 small children and they were very accommodating.

I am new to Galveston Island, but have already been to Mario's twice for their lunch buffet. The first time, I didn't know what to expect but wasn't disappointed. the second time, I knew what to expect and still wasn't disappointed. While the buffet wasn't massive in choices, the food was delicious. From a variety of pizzas, to nice salad... More

Description
It all started back in 1967 when Sicilian born Giovanni Smecca decided to move to Galveston, Texas from Patterson, New Jersey after hearing Glen Campbell’s famous “Galveston” during a card game. Giovanni always dreamed of being a professional fisherman, so he decided to give it a shot and made the drive to Galveston. After battles of sea sickness, Giovanni quickly decided that the fish business wasn’t for him.Heartbroken, Giovanni was about to move back to New Jersey when he met Mario Bonaccorso who was trying to open a pizzeria. The two became great friends, and together, these two young Italian entrepreneurs started Mario’s Flying Pizza and brought the “pizza pie” to Galveston Island.Today, we are still family owned and operated and are considered a delightful, neighborhood restaurant with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We serve a wide variety of Italian cuisine and New York style pizza and strive to use fresh, seasonal, ingredients wherever possible, so come on in, sit back, relax, and enjoy a wonderful meal and a nice glass of wine at Mario’s Ristorante!
