We came in out of a thunderstorm and the cafe was almost empty. No greeting. Sat at table for 10 minutes before being told we had to order at the counter. At these prices we didn't expect "self service" nor chewy bacon nor soggy "roasted"...potatoes. Like the weather, a big disappointment.More

Paid $100.00 for 4 of us, was worth so much less. 2 burgers w/ chips, 1 chicken salad croissant and 1 Island Slammer with a small fruit bowl. The only person who liked their food was the person who ordered the Island Slammer. The burgers...were so bland, I think fast food would have been better. The chicken salad didn't even get eaten after a couple of bites. We won't be back.More

Thank you for your feedback. Our prices are reflective of the incredibly high cost of supplies, they have tripled or sometimes quadrupled what they were in 2019. I'm sorry you felt the burgers were bland, we season them with mesquite seasoning, and dress them with...More

Small, crowded location. Tables are placed extremely close together. They had half of the tables “reserved”, but you don’t see this until you’ve already placed your order and paid. Then you wonder around in the tight establishment looking for an unreserved table. The food was...just so so. Will not be back to this place.More

We ordered the huevos rancheros and a plain ol’ breakfast. We grabbed a few cookies, bagel and mimosa. Everything was really good. We parked a few street away but the walk was easy.

We went 2 of us. Street parking where you can find it. You order food and they bring it to your table. Only open for breakfast and lunch. They have inside and outside seating. A tad on the high side but delicious. At certain times...line gets super long.More

The Mosquito Eggs Benedict comes on a toasted croissant, with two poached eggs, asparagus, artichoke hearts, sun dried tomatoes, and grilled shrimp. My husband describes it as “fresh and delicious”. Mine was the Crab Mosquito with crab substituted for shrimp. The strong flavors of artichoke...and asparagus overwhelmed the crab. My apple salad was a simple chopped apple, pecan, and whipped cream-type dressing—not a salad I would order again. My husband’s cheese grits were a little dry.over all it was a good and very different breakfast. Many other options are available. It as also pricey—nearly $50 for two people—two entrees, 1 coffee, 1 juice.More

i have been here several times over the years and the food was always excellent. I got the bowtie pesto with salmon this time and it was less than mediocre. Huge portion but the food itself was just an awful glob. Ate about a quarter...and could tell it was a GI disaster in the making.More

The staff was helpful and the kitchen seemed to do a good job accommodating our vegan orders, very appreciated. The food wasn't awesome, but wasn't bad. The Thai noodles (cold side) were the best of what we had. The portobello sandwich was a bit bland,...and the Senagalese vegetable platter was interesting but also a bit bland.More

We arrived at Mosquito Cafe around lunch and it was a hopping spot!!! We had to wait in line to order but it was so worth it! My husband had the crustless quiche and the raspberry bar. Both were excellent! I had the Nancy Betsy...Benedict. Another winner… the Benedict was delicious with the bacon and roasted tomatoes but it was sheer genius to put it on a toasted croissant.More

Took a group of coworkers to lunch in March and everyone loved their food, went back later in the week with friends and it was great again. Back in April with another friend for brunch and once again, a hit. Always a fave of mine!...Had baked brie app one trip, turkey divinity twice and a bacon and brie on Croissant, all delicious. I don't love their update apple pecan salad recipe but tried the Asian noodles for the first time and that was a nice change. My friend lost her mind over the parmesab crisps!! They are amazing!More

We went early because I heard it gets busy. There is no table service so ordering can take a very long time. The restaurant is small. Parking is limited. My husband ordered the Crabby Mosquito. A version of Eggs Benedict. It was cold and the...crab was not recognizable as crab. Tasteless! After tasting he didn't eat it. I ordered the shrimp and grits with egg. Cold! Only 4 medium shrimp and the shrimp was overcooked. In Galveston, I expected fresh seafood? We will never return. There is a much better restaurant down the street The Sunflower.More

This place is great. Probably not a lot of people know about it coming off the ships and hanging around on the strand but they should. We went for breakfast one day on our way to shopping on the Strand and we were not disappointed...at all. I had a breakfast bowl and my wife had a Granola and Yogurt bowl. Both were a perfect size and had amazing flavor. There was a line when we got there but it moved quickly. They have seating both in and outside and the people are very freindly. If you are in Galveston go out of the way and get some food here.More

I visited based on reviews. To be fair, they have a thoughtful, varied menu. Maybe I visited on an off day. Also I realize staffing shortages are currently an issue. I waited in line to place my order at the counter for 45 minutes. There...were stretches of time when the line didn’t move at all. This would perhaps be more understandable if the restaurant wasn’t full of empty tables. I was maybe 15 to 20 people deep in the line. I guess I’m the fool for waiting but I had read good things. I ordered the Mosquito Benedict, which arrived cold. A cold hollandaise sauce isn’t really a winner. Trying to be fair here but their ordering process is truly the slowest I’ve ever encountered. I wish the food had been worth the trouble.More

Used the breakfast menu, easy to order, and very friendly staff, clean and nice decor, portions are worth the prices. Hmmm... the over all food taste and how it was made I would consider hit and miss, I would not consider the toast actually toast,...very soft and fresh, but not quite toast as most people would consider it, the roasted potatoes had a nice taste and seasoning but slightly undercooked. They absolutely have healthy choices, and I would consider coming back to try other dishes to see how they are. They truly have their own little twists on things that makes it slightly different, I would recommend this place over all.More

When we were there in March, there wasn't a play area for kids. Just indoor seating and a patio outside in the back for seating as well.
