We went for lunch and I was bummed to see that they didn't have a fried shrimp meal til dinner. Our waiter told us to just get a Po-boy hold the bread :) and it was awesome. Their seafood gumbo and fried shrimp were great!! Get there early tho. We got there at 11:30 and it filled up fast.

Some of the best card cakes I have ever eaten. You must get there early. We arrived at 6:00 pm and they were out of crab cakes by 7:15. The waitress was awesome and attentive. She gave us the best information. The place is very small and seating is very limited. If and when I come back I will be... More

"Best gumbo all week" according to the non seafood eating 15yr old. The dinner menu was surprisingly good and the oysters were as always terrific. It has become a family must visit for an early afternoon dinner.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant on the island, and one of mine. The small restaurant has limited seating but it is usually worth the wait. The crab cakes are delicious, but they didn't have them on one of our visits so check first if that is your passion. The PoBoys are good with lots of oysters or shrimp, but... More

It was a short stroll from our hotel to the restaurant. It's a little small but packed- good sign!! We only had to wait about 5 min to sit. I have a gluten allergy so we stayed away from apps. I had the blackened fish tacos- so yummy!!! Very fresh and large pieces of fish!! My mom had the crab... More

This was a happy hour excursion after a day sightseeing in Galveston. When we travel the United States, one our pastimes is sampling the oysters. From Seattle (Extremely good Variety and quality) to Ocean City, MD being our favorite place to get variety and quality. The locally provided Raw Oysters on the Half Shell were surprising good and . Served... More

I just don't like seafood. I know, how can I live on the Gulf Coast and not like seafood. I just don't. Never have, never will. Except... I've gone to Black Pearl twice in the last week with family members who love seafood... ...and I was blown away. I got the red beans & rice the first time (not seafood)... More

The Black Pearl is not fine dining -- but it sure is good eating! Bring an appetite for the large portions of simple, fresh food, very fairly priced. A side of onion rings? They slice up (fresh) a whole onion, fry it up, and get it to your table. At $5, it's a steal. The seafood ceviche was also excellent,... More

Decent location once you find parking. The oysters are always good and the service is always polite and efficient.
