Stopped on our way to Windstar...just a few minutes off the highway...worth the stop. Good old country cooking. COVID safe, employees wearing masks, seated away from other tables. We ordered chicken fried steak, fried like I fry mine but not seasoned as heavy as I...do, good for those who like to season their own. Fresh country fried, cream gravy and green beans. I would definitely stop again.More
The food was good BUT serious problem with professionalism of staff Wont be back. Only 1 waitress wore mask, the others talked and laughed loudly without masks. Also rolling silver with gloves but no masks. Most of kitchen staff wore masks but not all. Their...behavior makes me wonder what other health rules they don’t follow. The owner needs to train and supervise staff.More
We said a year ago we would not go back. Decided to try them again. BIG MISTAKE. Upon arrival a young female store herself away from a three way employee chat and led us to the nearest table, threw 2 menus on the table and left....Soon a pleasant waitress came with a trainee. I looked at the menu, asked the trainee a food question. She said she did not know about anything about the kitchen. We ordered.....food came soon. I unrolled my silverware and there was something foreign on my fork, After waiting several minutes I waved it to my waitress, she saw me and continued waiting on others. After several more minutes my wife took it to the person wrapping silverware who gave her another fork.....no comment, nothing. When my wife returned to our table she said look over there and see the girl wrapping silverware.....she is playing games on the phone as she ignores what she is wrapping. No wonder silverware with food on it is being sent to customers.
Greeting....horrible, waitress....good, food......average, Management control.....worse than normal.................Therefor a one star (terrible) rating.
NOTE, please do not send your usual reply as it does not hit the mark of good management.More
We had lunch here today on our way through Gainesville, and I’m so glad we did! I found the Wolf Den on Trip Advisor (it’s not right on I-35 but was easy to get to), and it was a busy, happy place. We ordered a...variety of things (chicken salad croissant, philly roast hoagie, chicken strips, and catfish), and all were delicious. My son’s kid’s catfish meal was huge and more than he could eat. The homemade salsa and chips were fantastic! Our service was very good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We’d definitely go back when in Gainesville.More
Traveling from Texas to Kansas, we have now stopped in here twice for lunch. Both times the service and food were a "10". The chicken fried steak sandwich will feed two people. At least it did for us.
Second trip I had the fried catfish....A light cornmeal batter like grandma made.More
