We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the patio after a fun day wandering through Fredericksburg. The service was terrific and all the meals for our party of four were delicious. The duck schnitzel was unique and excellent. A great place to dine!

Excellent place for dinner. Best schnitzel I have ever had. Bartender really knows his stuff and is very friendly. The wurst plate was fantastic too.
Dined here on the recommendation of our hotel, and were not disappointed - we thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not an expert on German food so cannot comment on its authenticity, and the menu is quite limited, but everything we had was well-presented, well-cooked and tasty...- the flammkuchen starter (order to share - it's huge!) and the jager schnitzel were particular favourites. Service was friendly and efficient, pleasant surroundings and they have some nice wines. I wouldn't describe it as a 'wow!' place, but our dinner was excellent.More
one of the best German restaurants my wife and I have ever experienced. My wife had the pork schnitzel, and I had the sauerbraten, which was the best I have ever had. The service was superb, drinks were good, and the wine was excellent. All...in all, the best place for German Cuisine in Fredericksburg.More
Food and service was excellent. It was our anniversary and they gave us a glass of champagne to celebrate which was very nice. The flat bread was delicious and huge. The duck schnitzel was fabulous.
This trip to Fredericksburg, we had enough time ahead of our trip to make reservations for the restaurants we could never get reservations for on a spur of the moment visit; Otto’s was one of those places. I made our reservations online and was able...to list my wife’s one food allergy; once we were seated and ordered cocktails, our server Destiny let us know my wife could have anything on the menu because everything was made soy free (major points for knowing my wife’s allergy AND checking before we ordered). Speaking of cocktails, my wife had the Blue Thistle which she enjoyed very much and I had the Geeurzte Kirschen which was delicious. My wife (who loves German food) had the Jager Schnitzel while I had the Duck Schnitzel, both with spatzle and rotkohl; both entrees were amazing and the portions were more than generous. We also split a delicious piece of the Cambozoia cheesecake. From start to finish, Destiny and the rest of the floor staff made our meal comfortable and perfect. Now, the reason I titled this review fine dining with a twist: I think most people hear the words fine dining and assume it’s dressy and stuffy. We dressed a little better than nicely based on the fine dining thing and when we sat down, we saw many people we were in shorts, jeans, sundresses, pretty much anything. Otto’s just goes to prove that fine dining doesn’t have to be overdressed or stuffy. If you are in Fredericksburg and want some amazing German food, you have to try Otto’s.More
Great bratwurst and sauerkraut, along with the beer. Great location. It was a little pricey, but a worthwhile experience, especially sitting outdoors, if you don't visit the area often.
Food was gross. The gnocchi tasted like salt alone. I let my family taste it, and they felt sorry for me. I couldn’t eat it. My daughter in law ordered the chicken, and it was super dry. The only good dish was the duck schnitzel...my husband ordered and that was only because the duck alone was good. Everything else in his plate was unappetizing. Very disappointing. Waiter must be used to everyone pushing their plates away uneaten because no comment came from him.More
We arrived at Ottos a little early and the staff happily sat us at the table. We ordered two appetizers, the Flammkuchen and the Seared Scallops, each of these were absolutely delicious. The entrees were the Duck Schnitzel and the Knodel and did not disappoint...on the German flavors. The Hibiscus Mules were great for a non alcoholic drink alternative.More
Good German food. Out of the five friends that went, we all liked our meal. The drinks were ok. Our waiter was great! My only complaint is the waitress who came around and took our appetizer forks and plates. She was rude and seemed to...hate her job. Otherwise the food was good, the atmosphere was great for a date but also enjoyable for friends.More
f you are celebrating something special like a 24 yr. wedding Anniversary, don't take your chances on Ottos like we did. From one shocking encounter to the next (snobby hostess to holier-than-thou ((female)) bartender) unfortunately, we didn't make it to the dinner table. Instead of...being greeted & welcomed, it was shocking how terribly we were treated the moment we arrived. The Management was no better with a take it or leave it mentality and I am not alone. My complaints are a reoccurring theme, just sort by "lowest." Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere! Although the food may look appetizing, I repeatedly read that it was subpar and overpriced.More
The RUDEST staff and management I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. DO NOT DINE HERE. There are much better options around this awesome town. The owners of this establishment don’t care. If they did, it would be fixed. For my part, I should...have known better because I did read the Google reviews and noticed THIS recurring theme: 1. "The hostess was rude to my girlfriend and smarted off to us when we asked to sit at the bar. Bartender was a bit of a smart mouth too. Staff needs customer service training. Terrible customer service which totally ruined our dinner experience. - Jason T - 2 weeks ago 2. "Terrible hostess" - Carlos T - 1 month ago 3. "Worst service I have ever had in my life” - Joe Bob E - 6 Days ago 4. "The hostess had a foul attitude while seating us” - Rusty S - 3 weeks ago 5. "Very standoffish staff “ - Joe W. local guide - 1 year ago from Jul 2023 And there are many more like this. Sadly, we experienced all of the above. It doesn’t matter how good your restaurant might be, if your staff is this poor it is not worth taking the chance. We tried to have a nice anniversary dinner here, and was astounded from the second we put our name on the wait list how rude the 2 young hostesses were at the front, along with the manager and bartender to follow. It was almost amazing how in-sync they were, as if they enjoy doing this. There are so many better options out there. Don’t waste your time taking a chance on Otto’s German Bistro.More
We walked in for dinner with no reservations and were told a 40 minute wait. We decided to wait. In ten minutes we were shown a great table on the patio. There were four of us and one couple split the schnitzel. We had the...salmon and the schnitzel. Both dishes were excellent. The other couple had lived in Germany for years and said it was the best schnitzel they had dad since leaving that country 20 years ago. Highly recommend this place for authentic German food.More
Great food....You Can't go wrong with the flammkuchen or duck schnitzel with duck egg on top!! The small restaurant had a great atmosphere. Highly recommend a stop here. Reservations the day before - highly recommended!!
Top-notch German food. We sat at the bar and had great conversation and great service from the bartender, Violet (I think). The duck breast schnitzel and knodel entrees were outstanding. Nice beer and wine list.
