For authentic German food in Fredericksburg, TX, this is the place. The owner and staff are from Germany and know what REAL German food is all about. Not fancy and not too pricy. Great experience.

The Lindenbaum was recommended to us 'around town' as the most authentic German restaurant in Fredericksburg. We were told that it's run by a German lady with German-speaking staff and that there is no 'bastardization' of the menu, which is traditionally German, by including the...likes of burgers, fries etc. And all of this is true. However, the meat in the goulash was impossibly tough and while the knackwurst platte was appetising - the two sausages in particular - I did not expect the potato salad to be sweet. The waitress also forgot one menu item that we ordered nor did she mention their specials of the day. Having said that, the red cabbage was the best I've ever had, but that's hardly enough to compensate for the shortfalls. Extremely disappointing for a town that prides itself on its German heritageMore

Ate here while staying in Fredericksburg and liked it. The food was good, portions were huge. We had the schnitzel and potato salad. The staff was friendly and helpful and service was good. There are a lot of German choices in Fredericksburg and this is...a good one.More

The Schnitzels and potatoe salad is the best I’ve ever had. Very authentic, it’s a must try if you’re in town and looking for foodie spots.

I always heard that this restaurant had the best authentic German food, so had to try it. The menu was somewhat limited, but I chose a dish I'd never ordered, and it was tasty. I also ordered a side order of German bread, which was...rather bland. The restaurant doled out the butter that went with the bread, so I had to keep requesting more butter. Part of my lunch partner's order was German potato salad, but it didn't taste at all like the German potato salad I've had in the past. This was sweet. Two big disappointments were the service and the tableware. It appeared that each table had their own waitperson, but the person serving my table was inattentive. I was surprised that the restaurant used plastic cups to serve our drinks, as the restaurant is held out to be rather elegant. This was a one time visit, sorry to say.More

Great authentic German cuisine... The menu is limited, but the are many options of Schnitzel... Great beer selection, in bottles and on tap. The friendly service made it a great meal and experience. It's located right on Main St in the heart of the shopping...in this German inspired Texas town...More

Being of German descent, I was delighted to be able to try authentic German food! Plus the lady who owns the restaurant was out amongst the customers, very nice to visit.

Small restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg, TX with good German food. We visited during Octoberfest so it was very busy and noisy.

The pork was overcooked and very dry. If it wasn't for the gravy it would have been inedible. The saurkraut was delicious and the potatoes were average.

Our group of six had very mixed experiences with the food. A couple of us loved what we had, but a few thought various dishes were either too salty or too sweet. All of us had had German food before (including one individual who previously...lived in Germany). Everyone enjoyed the overall visit, and the service was great.More

This restaurant was recommended- the reviews were good and some made me leery. No experience prior with German food but I was pleased with the recommendation from waitress and my husband and I didn’t go hungry. Pricing was reasonable and parking wasn’t bad for lunch...meal on a Thursday ❤️More

Fredericksburg, Texas is a German town with lots of choices for hopefully authentic German food. We had two dinners while here. The first place was across the street from Der Lindenbaum and was ok. But Der Lindenbaum was excellent. From the German waitress to the...Serbian Bean Soup to the Schnitzel all was very good and served quickly and hot. The German chocolate cake was the topper. We all can highly recommend Der Lindenbaum.More
