Crossroads offered a pleasant dining experience. To begin, it was one fine dining restaurant that did not require a credit card deposit. Because I book arrangements in advance, I refuse to be "charged" for a dinner reservation in case I am unable to keep the reservation. We ate a bit early, at 5:45, so we were seated promptly after a welcoming greeting. A crusty bread was delivered to the table when the waitress came to take drink orders. I was surprised that they did not know what is a Kentucky Smash. My wife ordered the crab & craw fish cakes from the starters menu as an entree. The cakes were large, had little filler, were delicious and prepared appropriately. I ordered grilled shrimp and was surprised to receive eight large succulent shrimp. Service was attentive and pleasant. Yes, we knew that we were going to eat at a steakhouse, but the prices of steaks were more than I was willing to pay. $32 for a sirloin! $54 for a ribeye.

Went to crossroads to celebrate a birthday. Got there at about 7pm on a very busy saturday night. We were told it would be about 1&1/2 hours but that is about normal except for a fast food place. We ordered steaks, price included sauces and sides. Extremely good meat prepared exactly as ordered. My only complaint is they don't serve whitefish livers. Will certainly return next time in Fredericksburg.

Kevin, the manager, was a rude man with a bad attitude and an embarrassment to this establishment. I had a family of five to hopefully have a birthday celebratory dinner with. Knowing the dining room was all booked up on reservations, I called to see if we could make reservations in the saloon to listen to music and have dinner. Kevin answered the phone and told me only the owner can make reservations. I asked if the owner was in and he said "no. I asked for a number and again he said "no". He did say if we came in around sixish or before we would have a chance to get in. When we arrived he was downright rude and had a very bad attitude with me after repeating our phone conversation. Insinuating that I was not correct on our phone conversation which I know I was. I normally do not take his attitude lightly but I wanted to be sure we could get in so I kept my mouth shut. He then told me it was up to the hostess to let us in. Needless to say my family were livid about the situation and how I was treated. The hostess was kind enough to let us in and we did order only a couple drinks and an appetizer. We were going to have dinner and make a night of it but my family were very upset about the situation and they did not want to stay. We live in Austin and go to Fredericksburg many times and take lots of friends and family and we like eating at the Crossroads. But because of this rude, bad attitude manager we will not go back as long as he is working there and I will certainly let our friends know. I was also told that he has had many complaints from customers but still has a job there. He is bad for business.

During a recent visit to Fredericksburg we stumbled upon the Crossroads and after our experience we will not return or recommend if asked. Our first mistake was allowing the door hostess to seat us in the lounge area for dinner around 6:30 p.m. "Only thing available without a wait" we were told. Taken to a 4 top in front of the bar on one side and a stage on the other. (that should have been our first clue".) Party of four ordered drinks that were delivered at 4 separate times. Server said "she was busy". (second clue). Was able to order dinner and before we could enjoy our cocktails the band took to the stage with their "dinner set". (third clue) The music was so loud that we literally could not hear our table mates! Went to the hostess to have us moved and was answered with"you should have known there was a band in there". By this time I was a bit irritated and again asked to be moved to the main dining area. The kicker was a man that appeared to be a manager came up and rudely said "whats the problem?" He was followed by a large "bouncer" who again addressed my issue with a stern "you need to calm down" Needless to say all we wanted was a semi quiet table where we could enjoy our dinner. To their credit we were moved rather graciously by the bouncer only to have the manager come over to the new table and sarcastically say " this is the furthest from the bar without eating in the kitchen". Food for the price was only average. Houston has much better steak restaurants without the added noise ! Dining room had no atmosphere at all, and actually was on the dirty side. If they want to be a bar then I suggest they concentrate on being a bar. Summary: the manager needs to learn about guest service and train his staff in the same skill set. On a positive note, the lady serving us was pleasant and appeared to be a bit overworked. We did leave a generous gratuity since the experience was not her fault.

We were on a weekend away from Houston without the kids for our anniversary. I had looked at every restaurant in Fredericksburg to pick the perfect spot for dinner, since it was a special occasion. I booked over three weeks in advance, noting on the reservation that is was our anniversary. Now, I have spent 25 years in the hospitality industry, 15 and a chef and restaurant manager, and 10 as a chef instructor, and any time someone with a special occasion came into our establishment, we would make sure we went the extra mile to make their evening memorable. We arrived early and checked in and the gentlemen said that there were a few reservations ahead of us that they were waiting to arrive. That was great because we had time for a drink in the bar area and saw that we would be enjoying live music after dinner. I told him no worries, we are celebrating and want to have a nice time. Now normally I don’t care where we are seated. It does’t matter, but on special occasions, I like it to be special, and since there were parties ahead of us that had not arrived yet, it was obvious that there were choices available prior to seating. So we were seated on the patio, which was an addition to the building next to a large group of loud and vulgar speaking people. I asked if there was another option and was told no. I looked around the restaurant and saw that several tables were in the process of getting their check, which meant tables would be opening up soon. I went back to our table, which was a wobbly outdoor wire type table. After ordering two bottles of wine and appetizers and listening to the table next to us get louder and louder, I was pretty much done. It wasn’t an enjoyable setting to order a $400 dinner. We got up before anything was delivered and headed out, once again noticing that people were paying their checks. As we left, I again told the gentleman about the table and the group next to us. He just said that they were full. I would have certainly waited for tables to empty and relocated. As I said earlier, normally I don’t care where we sit in a restaurant, but this was a special night for my wife and I and I informed them of that and it seems to them that it just didn’t matter and responded with indifference. There was an empty booth, but he said they couldn’t seat it because of Covid. I get that, but if that was the case, why was every seat in the restaurant—and bar, for that matter—occupied. Just an overall disappointment from the lack of hospitality.

We went here for dinner and found that the paper menu we were given had a steak that was $20 more than the price listed on their website. The “manager,” Kenny, happened to be walking by and our server asked him. He told us “Things have been tough” and suggested I select one of their specials like chicken fried steak and walked away. He was extremely rude and straight up left his brand new server hanging. There was no apology. Nothing. This guy doesn’t care what you have to say so don’t bother. Honestly, we would have paid the extra $20 but he just didn’t have a care in the world. We’ll spend our money elsewhere.

My wife and I returned to Crossroads to enjoy her birthday dinner. The hostess greeted us in a welcoming manner. Having reservations, we were seated promptly. It took a few minutes for the waiter to arrive. We ordered wine and a Kentucky Smash for drinks; I was surprised that the waiter and bartender did not know that drink so I had to give them the ingredients. The bartender delivered. Food was again delicious and properly prepared. My wife ordered the crab cakes from the appetizer menu as her entre'. I ordered the roast chicken. Preparing the roast chicken requires more time than preparing steaks; however, as a person who enjoys chicken it was worth the wait. Cutting into the chicken I discovered that it was deboned! Crossroads is the only restaurant where I have eaten that deboned roast chicken! It was a great convenience. The chicken was moist and flavorful; mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect also. I cannot bring myself to spend that much money on a steak. The restaurant is noisy and presents the ambience of a barn, but then it is a steakhouse. But, I do not understand why diners must talk so loudly. Overall, because of the food, we will return. Also, Crossroads does not require a deposit to reserve a table as do most other restaurants in Fredericksburg.

The steak tasted great. But that was about it...paid $65 for a porterhouse that I couldn’t cut because of cheap (not sharp) steak knives. So was only able to eat the small filet mignon and the New York strip part of the steak was wasted as I literally hurt my hand trying to cut it for me and my girlfriend. Total bill was $140. Didn’t get asked for our wine order until after our food had arrived and that was after asking 2 other members of staff for a bottle. The steak was good, but overall not a good experience for a nice early Valentine’s Day dinner out. :(

Fine dining menu with matching high-end prices. Luckily on Wednesday (closed Tuesday) there was a 8-ounce prime rib special meal reasonably priced which included 2 sides. Not sure if the more expensive meals would have been better but priced 3 times higher. Waiter was not attentive, no offer of beverage refreshed although they seemed to have plenty of staff who could have accommodated our needs. If I return to Fredericksburg, I would try another fine dining restaurant.

My wife and I dined at Crossroads while we were visiting Fredericksburg. We had a reservation and they seated us promptly. The service was good, but the food was just average. After dinner our waitress gave us wristbands which allowed us to get into the bar area. The bar was very crowded and no seats were available. We stood by the stage and enjoyed the band. They were excellent. I would consider going back for the entertainment, but probably not for dinner.

The food is good but expensive. The waits are long. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait, but we waited an hour and a half. If you aren't in a hurry or already starving, you can sit in the saloon and enjoy the music and appetizers. They do take reservations, but book them before your stay.

Totally dissatisfied and disappointed! This place is priced the same as Cabernet on S 16. But it is a long ways from the same quality! My NY Strip looked and tasted like one from Golden Coral and it was $38, OMG! The same steak at Cabernet was twice as thick, 10x more tender and was trimmed to perfection! Jalapeño-brisket appetizer was good but very small. Waitstaff was good and bad. Our waitress was poor, but the ones all around our table were awesome. Was NOT IMPRESSED.

Taking in to consideration most restaurants are short handed and trying to maintain to keep their business…we arrived after making reservations were escorted to the cellar which was equipped with 4 tables. Surrounded by limestone walls and of course the wine cellar. Which was some what distracting as the waitstaff had to come into our space to get the wine…maybe they could shift the tables towards the stairs. Our waiter greeted us and presented the wine list and menus. He then reappeared with a cocktail list. We decided to order cocktails and I will say were well made, except he had left them a little long at the bar because they were not as cold as the second round. He seemed really scattered, as I stated above we understand the shortages of the time. He returned and asked if we had made our choice for dinner…my husband told he we would order but he must let us know if I could eat what we had chosen because I have an allergy to SOY…he returned with our appetizers but I felt the tuna stack had mayonnaise which usually has soybean oil and he apologized and removed from in front of me he stated the girl didn’t understand English very well and I stated SOY or SOYA is what I’m allergic to…he came back and offered us a complimentary dessert. Dinner came we both had the surf and turf, the steak was cook as ordered but really fatty and gristly. Shrimp was good, baked potato was cold he stated he removed the sour cream because he didn’t know about if it contained soy. He returned to remind us of our dessert and what they had…we declined due to the fact fried strawberries could be cooked in a soy oil and chocolate usually has soy. There was a teenager that was bussing the tables around us that took such pride in his job and cleaning up the tables. He was extremely quite with his job and scrubbed the plastic placements well. As we left I asked who the young man was and tipped him a small thank you for a job well done. I may be wrong but I believe his name was Jonathan. He is a great joy, you need to hold on to him. Because it being such a closed in room he did his job and cleaned three tables during our meal without making loud noises with dish removal.

We went on the suggestion of my sister. I should have looked up the menu beforehand. I was definitely not prepared for the prices. Waitstaff acted like we were beneath them. My dad and I shared a chicken fried steak, it was so small... pretty sure a McDonald's happy meal provides more food! Neither of us cared for it and we are not hard to please. My husband only thought his food was so so. My sister was the only one that left satisfied. We will never return.

The entertainment was super and our food was actually fresh and of good quality. But the lack of staff meant the food arrived cold. Cold jalapeño poppers. Cold quail. Cold cooked vegetables. Not one dish arrived at our table even warm. It was all cold, with fat already starting to congeal. One waitress can not adequately serve the entire saloon, which was covid-full. When management goes cheap like this, it spoils the experience for diners. Apparently not a concern to the management here.
