We visit the Old German Bakery as often as we can. Not just a Bakery but a great Restaurant. They serve tons of food. Quick and friendly service. Middle of downtown Fredericksburg. Within walking distance of all the shops. I highly recommend it.

We stopped here for lunch and the bakery, of course. The German cuisine was delicious! My grandson (the picky eater) order bratz which came with a seasoned fried potato and kraut. He ate the whole thing. The schnitzel I ordered was feshly prepared, tasty and spiced well. The portions were generous for a lunch special. The server was prompt and the... More

Sunday morning 9:00am was super busy, but they move people in and out quickly. Never had German pancakes before so we had to try them. They were really great. Wait staff must all be track stars.....they move quick in a crowded place.

My husband and I were in Fredericksburg for a friends weekend get away. We arrived around 10 AM and the place was full so there was a short wait but trust me it was worth it. Our waiter was absolutely the best. Although he was extremely busy he was attentive to our every need. He even suggested a scenic drive... More

I've seen other reviews refer to the food as "diner food". I would say, "exactly". This is a "diner", and the breakfast fare we had was very good. It's not a four star restaurant and does not claim itself to be so. Our breakfast of eggs, German sausage, waffle, and coffee was very good and a very good value. We... More

The best breakfast in town! 4 of us went from San Antonio, because we'd heard about the breakfast. It was crowded, but we only waited about 15 minutes. The pancakes are delicious, very large and thin. Bacon and eggs were tasty, and the pastries are incredible! We took a huge box home with us.

Went on a Sat, very busy but very good German food and a good selection. Also lots of American food too (if you are bringing kids who cannot appreciate ethnic cuisine.). Red cabbage is really good and sweet. I loved their Spätzle (noodle dish). Helpings were Texas size so bring your appetite. If the weekend expect to wait (hiring more... More

The food wasn't great - more of a diner type experience. The eggs benedict was ok. I don't believe they use fresh/from scratch hollandaise sauce.

Early morning stop for breakfast on the way to Van Horn. Though busy, the service was good and fast. Breakfast was alright but was really anticipating the german style pancake. Guess I am spoiled to Maxine's Cafe & Bakery in Bastrop (best pancakes in Texas). Did shop at the bakery and enjoyed the pastries for the next two days! Worth... More
