while visiting Fredericksburg we wanted breakfast and the Old German Bakery & Rest. was recommended. The breakfast was great, but the bakery goods were literally worth the visit alone

Ate breakfast two mornings in a row, it's THAT good! Hubby had the pancakes, I had the eggs, hash browns, biscuits & sausage. Next morning we had the cinnamon rolls and nut rolls. O...M...G... The best!

We stopped here on a drive in the Hill Country and were very pleased we did. Had tried several other options on the way but walked away from them. Service was friendly as the young girl was very helpful and brought ours drinks immediately. I...More

Get there early or don't be frustrated when you have to wait for 20-30 minutes for a table. The food is good, and coffee served hot and when your cup is empty. The service is great for that many people and tables, but just be...More

Craving the gravy goodness of some fine jägerschnitzel? Well, believe it or not, you can enjoy this fine German dish in the heart of Texas. The next time I am traveling through Fredericksburg, I know where I am stopping for lunch.

Go early so you aren't waiting. Classic old school breakfast with lots of bakery treats. Menu is traditional with a few local additions. Service is good and prices right.

We had friends in town, they were requesting German food. This was THE place! Always busy when we drive by, staff is friendly and helpful.

All the pastries we took home were completely uncooked and slimy. Don’t go if you don’t want to get sick. It shouldn’t be called the “Best of German Food” if they don’t even know how to bake.

Based on the number of people waiting to be seated, I thought that this must be the best breakfast in town. All of the food looked good. And the building has a nice, historic feel to it. The food was bland and nothing special. We...More

We have been previous visits and never experienced a wait. Today, we waited 45 min and had to share a table with strangers. The food was worth the wait and very reasonably priced. Our strangers became friends and we had a great breakfast experience

We were there for lunch, and some of our party ordered breakfast. I checked on their website and there is an abbreviated breakfast menu after 11:00 a.m.
