Old German Bakery and Restaurant lives up to its name in providing authentic German fare for breakfast and lunch. We have eaten lunch there on several occasions when visiting Fredericksburg, and we're never disappointed. Generous portions of delicious Wienerschnitzel, Jaegerschnitzel, and Sausages are served with German potatoes, red cabbage, spaetzel, or other specialties. In addition, their meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and... More

My SO and I were taking an extended weekend in Fredericksburg and we grabbed breakfast from this fabulous little place. The food was delicious and had a very unique flavor. Highly recommend the German pancakes! Yum!

This restaurant serves great German food. The portions are huge. It is a little pricey but you get your money's worth. The German pancakes are awesome - as big as the platter they are served on. One is enough for most people, two may be pushing it. Three is for NFL linemen and WWF stars. Great bakery too - big... More

We traveled to Fredericksburg on business. We had a like time to kill, so we thought we would grab lunch. We stopped at the Old German Bakery where a lady yelled at us to sit at any table. Husband and I had authentic German food for the first time, and were not disappointed. The food was a little bland, but... More

Our family stopped here for lunch one afternoon and we were hoping for some amazing German food. Granted, nothing was bad but nothing was great. I got the bratwurst on a house made hoagie bun with German potato salad. The potato salad was just plain, potato salad and tasted maybe prepackaged. The brat was good, probably the best thing on... This is the best restaurant in Fredericksburg, and the best bakery in 5 counties. Everything on the menu is fresh, delicious, and as authentic as any German restaurant, "bakerie" and "Konditerie" in Munich. The schnitzel (any variety, though we're partial to Jaegerschnitzel) is fabulous, and DON'T miss the fried potatoes and red cabbage. The potato pancakes are terrific too! Get... More

Had a delightful breakfast here this week I had the potato pancakes with applesauce and scrambled eggs so yummy! My husband had an omelette and was equally impressed servings were huge and gave us enough to take home for the next day Stopped at the bakery counter and got a half dozen chocolate chip meringue cookies and one peach Danish... The food is WONDERFUL and you will NOT be able to eat everything on your plate!! While there be sure to buy some of the TRUE GERMAN pastries and the BREAD!!! You've never had bread like this before! The items are prepared by a German baker!!! So, visit and have a true taste of GERMAN!

We're from new Braunfels-tx, we know good German food. This place beats everything I've tried. Best red cabbage, and warm German potato salad. All of the schnitzels have wonderful crust and flavor. My very picky daughter loves the potato pancake. If German food isn't your thing, my husband adores the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and corn. You won't get... More
