We had to stay the night in Ft Stockton and the hotel said this was one of their favorites so we thought we’d try it. WOW what a good choice. Starting with our server - Naniz - she was delightful. Very nice and attentive. Great...service with a smile. Then there was the food- I had the Molcajete de Mexicans. Naniz said they sell that the most and I can tell why - it was incredible and I highly recommend it. My husband had tacos. He couldn’t decide between the Brisket tacos and the Estafado so Naniz suggested he get some of each - good call. He preferred the Brisket but said they were both fantastic. The salsa is also over the top good. And they were fast! So all in all if you have a choice then go to Tacos OJ! You won’t be disappointed!More

Where to start? I’ve eaten here 5 or 6 times over the past 6 or 7 yrs, while passing through, and have never had a disappointing meal: Well, until now. The restaurant is in a a small metal building, not showcasing a typical Mexican theme...by any means. But once through the front door, the interior will assure you, that you’re in the right place. The restaurant is fairly clean and decently decorated, although the bathrooms could use a refreshing for sure. The food here is usually a notch above the typical Mexican fare, in terms of creativity. The menu is large, and includes a few rare dishes not normally found in a venue of this category. Side note: You won’t find the usual array of Mexican combos available, like every other Mexican restaurant menu. Ordered the brisket flautas regulares, which has rolled tortilla flautas covered in a variety of sauces and condiments. My last visit, I remember their brisket tacos bring a notch above others I’ve tried: If I remember correctly, they smoke their own brisket here. Fast forward to this visit, and the meat was underwhelming to say the least. The shells were also way over cooked, making them nearly impossible to cut into. But the worse part was the “white whatever” looking sauce the dish was swimming in, while being plated. Add to that, a tasteless avocado guacamole topping, and this dish fails miserably. The rice n beans weren’t much better, unfortunately. On a somewhat positive note: The chips n salsa were actually quite good. And I do like that they added a grilled jalapeño to top the meal. And I’ll have to say, the tres leches cake was actually quite tasty. Service) I’ve read others complaining about the below average service here, and have to agree. My waitress had no knowledge of the menu, including stating, that she’s never really tried anything to eat here. And that’s ok, as everyone’s tastes vary: But her interest in even being here, let alone, waiting tables, was nonexistent. Maybe the service wasn’t that bad per say; but it just feels as if the staff doesn’t care if you come in here to eat, or not... And that’s a real let down. All n all, I’m very disappointed on this visit. Everything was night and day from my last time here, and that’s a shame. And I’ll take the blame for that disastrous dish I ordered, as I should’ve sent it back to begin with: It was just a sloppy mess. Pair this with the mediocre non interesting service, and it makes for a disinterested customer, with a non recommendation at this time....SorryMore

My buddy got the tacos OJ and I got the the Mexican Chicken Fried Steak, This was definitely one of the best chicken fried steaks I have ever eaten (I eat allot of them), it was also huge about 8-9inches across and a thick hand...breaded steak, with green chili sauce mixed into the gravy it was simply delicious, Don't go anywhere else! stop here and eat this you will be amazed, full, and satisfied. Very friendly service also. worth the drive from anywhere, you will not be dissapointed.More

Recently stopped to eat here based off the reviews. Restaurant is small but cozy. Service was great. Steak, chicken, and shrimp were full of seasoning. No liquor but they do have beer. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

My bro & I went here for tacos last nite. As the many recent reviews state - the tacos are well worth venturing off the I - 10 for. Not much going on in this small town. For us it was 1/2 way to Lafayette,...LA so we stayed here and glad we choose this taco stand, although the place had a pretty decent menu for other Mexican dishes as well.More

Tacos OJ was recommended to us by one of the employees at our hotel. It was a nice little Mexican place with good food. We had the Tacos OJ Plate and the Chalupa Plate. Very authentic tasting. Our service was not very good however. The...waitress definitely preferred talking to and helping out my husband - she was not very friendly with me. I had to ask for more water and she was not happy about that at all. We are not Mexican either - and she was definitely friendlier with other patrons who were - as opposed to how she related to us. Too bad we could not get margaritas. In fact, I did not see alcohol on the menu though i did see other people drinking bottled beer. Maybe you had to bring your own?? I don't know.More

Nice little gem in the middle of nowhere. While traveling down I-10, I stopped in Fort Stockton for the night and needed a place to eat. After looking at TA reviews the top rated place that was still open was Taco OJ. Many reviews had...as their only criticism was the time to get the meal but since I had nothing but time I thought I would give it a try, I’m so glad I did. The food was very tasty and my service was very fast. I had Tacos Pastors, the meat had tons of flavor and they give you five full size tacos. The only reason they get 4 stars rating is they do not have a full bar. If I could have got a margarita with the meal it would have been 5 stars all the wayMore

Cute little Mexican place with best tacos. So good we order a second order of just the tacos with carne asada. The first plate we split and decide on a second order of just tacos. There’s not much here in ft Stockton, stop looking and...come and eat some tacos asados. Stay hungry amigos. El Gordo!More

Stopped in to Tacos Oj on a road trip through Texas one evening. The place was hopping but we still got great, friendly service with lots of help on the menu and most popular dishes. Ordered quesadilla and an estofado sandwich and both were amazing!
