I must say, I really do no go there for the food. A lot of our friends gather there on Fridays for happy hour. We usually end up eating the Chicken Fajita nachos and they are good. The beer is cold and some of the...ladies like their margaritas. Diane, the bartender always takes care of us. Sometimes we meet there on the weekend if we are going for a ride on the bikes - m/c. It is another one of the local "go to" places.More

If all you do is come here to eat the salsa, it will be worth it! It is regularly made in house and is just terrific with the extra thin chips that accompany it. The food is very good, and not very greasy, and it's...consistently hot. Love the tacos al carbon.More

Our daughter had told us that she tried this restaurant and liked it so we decided to try it as well. The service was ok but truthfully the food was not edible to me. I did not like the taste or the seasoning so I...did not eat it. My husband thought it was ok and it was a little pricy for what we ordered.More

Long standing restaurant, good food at fair price, not always properly staffed with wait staff. But, get ready to smell cigarette smoke or stale cigarette smoke wherever you sit.

We used to eat at El Maguey every few months just to see if the food and service had gotten any better. Now there are too many other places in Elgin to even try this place again. Service was slow... Food was decent at best....There are many better choices in Elgin.More

Good TexMex and friendly, if sometimes slow service. Good prices on respectable margaritas, especially during happy hour. Good friendly folks.

Try the Mexican Martini's, they are great!!! I am also regular for breakfast at this cafe. The service I receive is excellent. The juevos rancheros and the breakfast tacos are terrific.

Excellent full bar. Cheese & beef enchiladas both great. Mom loves fajitas. Haven't found anything I don't like especially Mexican martini.

Had a great time; a few cold ones, and enjoyed Cloe (Bar Keep) she was entertaining and made a few great suggestions. We had the Fajita Nachos, chips & Salsa, and we had a great time.
