If you enjoy BBQ this is the place to come. Not only is it a meal, it is an experience. Our group of six went on a Friday night and the place was hoping. Despite being quite busy it didn't take long to get served. As we walked into the rustic dining area we passed the large BBQ pit filled... More

Having seen this place on Man vs Food my girlfriend and I decided to make a detour here during our 2016 road trip. Are we glad we did. This place is amazing! First let's talk about the restaurant. It's massive and seats a tonne of people without being too loud or losing the intimacy between you and the person sharing... More

Ordered the brisket and pork ribs plate. Excellent choice! Comes with a side of beans (thought they tasted out of a can), potato salad (vinegar style) and coleslaw. Bread and pickles are optional. There are two sauces, habanero and regular. I preferred the hot because it was less sweet. Had blackberry cobbler for dessert but would skip that next time.... More

British couple on a bit of a tour of the states. Drove an hour to visit and it was worth it. Everything was perfect and the sauces are brilliant. Make sure to save room for some pie and cobbler! Are around half 1 on a Tuesday and were seated straight away. Thanks for a great meal!

I'm a native Texan but for some reason never made it to the salt lick before now. My husband and I thought the food was excellent. The meat was awesome but I also love the potato salad and the bread! It's a neat location with a fun atmosphere. You won't be disappointed!!

Salt Lick was a lot of fun. Scenic drive from Austin. No wait time when we arrived around noon on a Sunday. Down pour rain hit just as we were seated indoors at communal picnic table... Very charming, noisy with happy people. To me the room evoked happy memories of summer camp dining halls. We ordered pork ribs, beef ribs,... More

My husband and I ate here on a Sunday evening-no waiting. We visited the winery building for a drink before dinner and enjoyed the glass of wine outside. The food was great-brisket, rib and potato salad! We brought our own bottle of wine to enjoy with the food. No push from the servers to eat and leave -we sat and... More

I had the brisket and it literally melts in your mouth. I was given the choice of brisket cut and the portion was way more than I could eat. Definitely worth the one hour drive from Austin. I went on a weeknight and was seated right away but was told that weekend wait times can approach 3 hours. Heads up... More

Our first Texas Barbecue and what an experience. Its a bit of a drive out of Austin but worth the trip. We sat under the trees to wait for the rest of our group to arrive and visited the wine tasting room. There was live music and you could buy fresh lemonade. The barbecue pit just has to be seen... Every time I am in the Austin area I have to make a side trip to this place. They only take cash, so come prepared. If you forget that's okay too because they do have an ATM. The service is quick, the food is always amazing and the people are friendly. I was just there on Wednesday night and cant... More
