When we first got there, from the outside the place looked closed. But the sign said Open so we went in. This is not a large place, and while we were there they did quite a bit of takeout dinners so it may be there just don't have a lot of dinner diners. Regardless, there is seating for maybe 50 guests total but there were only 10 or so there for dinner when we got there. This place does NOT have liqueur license, so if you are looking for a nice Thai beer or glass of wine you are out of luck. Not sure if they have a BYOB policy but I did not spot a cork or brown bottle so if that is your thing with dinner you might want to call and ask. Service was prompt and polite. The menu has all the usual Thai restaurant suspects along with lots of other options. I was in the mood for some Panang and found lots of choices from protein to level of spiciness. I would up ordering the Seafood Panang with a Level 2 heat. At Sweet Basil, they have 5 levels of Spiciness and can kick up the heat REALLY quick. So be warned. Level 2 is medium, then 3 is HOT, 4 is VERY SPICY, and 5 is Thai Style. I did not want to go anywhere near that. Also had the fried spring rolls with their house sauce and peanut sauce. They were terrific! Flaky, crunchy rolled little gems. For sure start with these unless you have something against yummy. There are a number of other Thai places in Denton, but this is the only one I've tried thus far. I would for sure go back and try something else when the mood strikes me.

Sweet Basil has been around for years and it feels like it’s been years since we’ve eaten here. Being in Keto makes it hard to find dining choices but many Thai dishes are keto friendly. We started off with Tom Ka soup which was excellent. That was followed with the chicken lettuce wraps. While they were okay they were hardly the best I’ve eaten and wouldn’t recommend them. Next up was the chicken green curry (sadly without the rice 😞). Not much chicken and lots of green bell pepper but the taste was very good No dessert tonight. If you’re hankering for Thai and don’t feel like venturing far give Sweet Basil a try.

The last time I reviewed this place, I wasn't impressed. Since then, I believe Sweet Basil has had a change in ownership or management, and it's evident in the food and the service. We have eaten here several times over the last six months and have received some delicious meals and attentive, pleasant service. I can recommend the House Cashew Chicken and the Tofu Ginger, and the pickiest eater in my family loves the Yellow Curry with Chicken. There is a lunch special Monday through Friday (from 11 to 2, if I'm remembering correctly) that is a very good value: you get a fried spring roll, soup, and entree for $7.95. Thai food is rich in sauces, and if there's a sauce you'd like, ask them and they'll probably make it for you. So overall, I'm happy to report that we regularly visit Sweet Basil again.

The food was too acid for Thai taste. Soup was good. The Pad Thai was to acid and not enough peanut sweetness. Waitress forgot to bring silverware, but was prompt in providing when requested. Overall mediocre.

We've been grabbing takeout from this place for a couple of years and while it's never been 5-star quality, it did the job. My go-to dish is green curry with chicken. Tonight's offering was watery with very little depth to the curry and undercooked veg. The eggplant pieces are so tough I can barely eat them. My dining partner's curry was the same. This has unfortunately been the norm over the past 6 months with this restaurant.

We have tried all the Thai in town but keep coming back to Sweet Basil. The food is consistent and the staff is welcoming and attentive. Highly recommend the Chicken Satay Classic Thai and Tom Ka soup. The curries are very good too. The jasmine tea is a family favorite in cooler weather.

I really love the food here. And it's pretty authentic. We had some friends visiting from Thailand and they loved it. One caution: Some of the spucier dishes are REALLY hot!

We were on the road back to Austin and needed a quick meal. The service was fast, and the Tom Ky Guy was delicious and hot. The don't skimp on the ingredients in their food--there was plenty of creamy coconut milk in my soup, and my husbands egg rolls were full of great veggies. It was a really good meal.

We visited the Sweet Basil as a large group, it was a last minute decision so we did not have a reservation. The restaurant was very accommodating, staff was friendly and very helpful.
