We had not been to City Cafe in quite some time and honestly we had forgotten about it, but several weeks ago it came to mind and we made a reservation. We won't forget about it any more, the food, service and ambience was all excellent. We'll definitely be going back.

I have never had such great food and service in my life! Upscale casual setting. Superb attention to detail and service. The Maître d’/Host went out of his way to ensure our experience was the best!

From the moment we walked in, our group of 4 loved this place. Karim made us feel special as I observed he does everyone. The service was impeccable. My husband had liver and onions (yuck from me) but he wanted to see how a restaurant would do the dish. He said the liver was slightly overcooked but the preparation was outstanding, including a really good reduction sauce. My veal scallopini was delicious. Son-in-law had the duck and daughter had the pork tenderloin. We would definitely enjoy City Café again.

We met friends here for lunch, we arrived early, but we were welcomed like old friends! We used valet parking, as it is difficult finding parking; however everyone from parking valet to all the staff And the chef, introduced themselves and made us welcome! Our two waitresses were Abbey and Maylie (hopefully I spelled their names right), seated us, brought us the bread basket and butter, took our drink orders and hung my coat while we waited for our friends. Abbey suggested I try a Mango Mimosa, which was very good! Eventually, our friends arrived and ordered their drinks and we settled in for visiting. No one rushed us, but we did order onion rings for the table. Delicious, crunchy coating and nicely cooked. Spouse was so happy with them, he ordered another later on. Our wait staff, including a nice gentleman, proceeded to bring a second round of drinks, which made us decide to order the Tempura asparagus-oh my! So good! It is lightly battered, then served with Meyer lemon aioli sauce and topped with Parmesan, a delight. We should have stopped there, but instead a couple orders of crab cakes were enjoyed, as far as we could tell, all crab, no fillers! I enjoyed a plate of sliced heirloom tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella, basil and lemon olive oil dressing. Very good, but I added some sugar to cut the tartness of the dressing. throughout our time there the service was top notch, friendly yet professional. Just as we were all thinking of calling for the check, here come the staff with two desserts, free from the maitre d, Karim Alaoui. Although we all were full, we split dessert willingly! This is a lovely venue, white tablecloths and all, quiet although it had many customers, you could visit without having to yell, a real delight. Only wish it were much closer to our home. Btw, prices are reasonable for such a great place! All in all, this would be my go to place if we lived nearer.

My wife has the unique ability to choose fabulous restaurants in places we haven't been before and this is one of them. The service and food were superb. Karim Alaoui's, the owner, wine recommendation was spot on, all of the foods we ordered were prepared perfectly, and served professionally. While there is a cafe part, the fine dining part is very tastefully appointed.

City Cafe is a terrific little place where my Carrollton friends and my Grand Prairie friends can all meet centrally. It is upscale, but not snooty. The menu is different every time we go there, and we haven't had a bum dinner yet. I'd recommend the calamari for an appetizer (if squid is your thing. It is cooked like onion rings) Most of the time we are too stuffed for dessert (but the dessert menu is varied and very rich) Sharing a dessert around the whole table works best. My favorite meal is the brunch with the pastry/bread basket, Mimosas and City one-on-one Benedict. Extremely tasty. The entrees are absolutely photogenic and taste just as good. My favorite part is that they serve entire teapots of hot flavored tea instead of by the measly cup for us tea connoisseurs. The service is impeccable and very very friendly. You are never rushed, nor do you have to wait to pay your check. And the waiters are glad to take group pictures of your table. The restaurant at Lovers lane and the toll way is also centrally located with a fun Nicholson-Hardie and WildBirds Unlimited stores next door that you can peruse while trying to digest your meal. I very much recommend this place.

Sophisticated ambiance, without the stuffiness. Finally discovered a quiet restaurant with that touch of elegance that is missing. Food was spot on, had the tomato soup along with the veal. Potatoes & green beans to round out a great dinner. Hot, fresh dinner roll alongside was a nice touch. I tried two items for dessert. The key lime pie, while rich and textured nicely was a bit too tart for me. They replaced it without hesitation with their unique coffe and brittle cake, truely unique and tasty. Service & prices on par for this style of restaurant.

My wife and I joined 2 friends for dinner at City Cafe. This was our first time here. Our host, Karim was outstanding. He provided us with an excellent wine selection and great dinner recommendations. I had a delicious pork chop with wonder sides. Everyone at the table has excellent dishes. The wait staff was very attentive and personable. The four of us had a wonderful evening.

My first visit. Hostess was great and Super friendly. We got the booth we asked for. My bf has been going for years ... fresh out of the oven hot bread ... amazing. Some Parmesan and what appeared to be cracked pepper crisps as well in a basket. Classy elegant and quiet , and in Dallas, quiet and romantic hard to find. Got the Crab Louie as a starter ....oh what a masterpiece! Fresh, so Fresh. With what appeared to be a mango sauce underneath. The Crab and avocado and All ingredients so fresh. We split the Wagyu short rib as we weren’t very hungry. PLENTY for the two Of us. Wonderful mashed potatoes with I believe a Cabernet glacé.... and green beans. The Wagyu was so tender and tasty, the glacé amazing. The owner sent over the Key Lime Pie. It was tasty but not My fave in Dallas. Overall a great experience. I can’t wait to return ! Service all over on point . Bravo !

Have been multiple times and while staff recognizes you and thanks you for coming back, on the last visit when busy they took advantage of this. We had to wait for service, clears, refills, etc. while other guests were taken care of first, even though we were next in line. Pleasant atmosphere and good product, but not excellent as it has been in the past.

This is our First time visit and we concluded This is a first class deli and sit down restaurant. The panini sandwiches are as good as or better than most in town. The tuna is too. Fast service, and even though parking is scarce, valet parking is available. We live 20 minutes away, but have put this on our list of worthwhile places for lunch

Excellent location to host a business luncheon. Just off the Dallas tollway it’s easy to access. The lunch menu offers something for everyone from omelettes to salads to burgers to entree such a steak and chicken fried chicken with gravy. The fries are cut fresh daily They offer cloth napkins and nice serving wear to enjoy your lunch from. The service was top notch for the entire meal The valet parking was a nice touch as well

I visited City Cafe as a party of 13 for a birthday celebration. We booked a private room that was terrific, if the weather is good this room affords a private patio that is great for pre or after dinner drinks. I can’t say enough about the amazing service! A wine glass never went unfilled. And the food crazy good! Our party ordered a variety of dinner entrees and all were exceptional, arriving at the same time. Our group ordered Crispy Fried Calamari and Mochiko Tempura Asparagus Spears as appetizers, yummy and devoured with a vengeance! As for entrees: the Filet Mignon Au Poivre was cooked to perfection! Fellow diners enjoyed the outrageously good Grilled Australian Lamb Shank, Grilled Sea Scallops, Rigatoni Pasta, Texas Gulf Shrimp & Sea Scallops. Everyone raved! PLUS since it was a birthday we had delicious cake that was perfection! A delightful evening and experience!
