I am a gringo. I do have a lot more Mexican food experience than most however. (No, not just tex mex). I have had tacos at at dozens of taco stands all over Dallas and oak cliff and in Mexico. $1.79 for each taco(corn tortillas)...is expensive at the places I go so I was expecting heaping portions of savory meat. The steak taco was okay, but not much of it. The carnitas were horrible. They tasted boiled. I tried just the meat and even grabbed a tasty looking end piece, boiled meat. Skip it.More

Based on other taco stands in Dallas proper, Tacos y Mas does not take the cake. However, it is central (Ross Ave.), convenient, and does a pretty good job. We typically only get breakfast tacos (which comparatively are actually very good), and call in our...order ahead of time in order to avoid the crowds on the weekends. Tacos Y Mas is somewhat of an institution on Ross ave, occupying part of the CVS parking lot across the street from one of the best dive bars in Dallas (Ships). The have a large menu ranging from nachos, burritos, to huge torta sandwiches. In terms of their tacos, which is what I am rating them on they are just okay. But they are good enough for me to keep coming back. The main reason I tend to keep going back is their location to where I live, and the fact that it is not as much in the ghetto as some of the other better taco joints in the city. Get their steak, egg, and potato breakfast tacos and add some chipotle sauce and you will be a happy camper.More
