I should have read the reviews before ordering: “ The sushi was no different than gas station sushi.” “Not worth the price or drive” After I made the mistake of ordering, I agree that this is the worst sushi I have had from both a...creativity and quality. I did not even eat because I feared it was not edible. Let’s start with the Texas Family boat, which costs $219. It was “chef’s choice” 30 pieces of sushi, 4 rolls, and sashimi , but instead California roll, tuna roll l, tempura avocado, and spicy something(salmon?). The Sashimi and sushi was simply tuna, salmon, cooked shrimp, and two types of white fish. The karage ($8) is normally chunks of chicken, but this was a few thin strips of chicken. The shrimp tempura($12) was previously frozen and only had shrimp five pieces . Horrible quality, potentially unsafe temperature(felt warm to the touch), and uninspired for being chef’s choice/omkase. See the pictures to see for yourself.More

We were staying at the Lumen and wanted something to eat but it was past 9pm. Everything in the area had already closed so when we found out they didn’t close till 10pm we were in luck. The sushi was great! The teriyaki stir fry...was perfect. I highly recommend this place.More

Sushi Kyoto is located near the SMU campus and offers a selection of lunch Bento boxes, one of which I ordered while in town. A small appetizer of well prepared vegetable tempura accompanied an overdressed salad, three pieces of sushi, and two rolls (spicy tuna...and California). I found the sushi to be of premium quality, but was a bit disappointed in both of the rolls. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy, and the tuna had been chopped finely into a paste which filled the center. The California roll also differed from other sushi bars, with imitation crab but indiscernible avocado.More

Nice little sushi place with great food. They have 4 large tables for larger groups and small tables in the back and counter seating at the sushi bar. Service was excellent and we really enjoyed all of our food. They had some specials for the...day and lots of menu items. Was not crowded so we walked right in but was getting crowded by the time we left and it's not a large place. Several regulars came in that seemed to know everyone so this was a nice neighborhood spot. Service was excellent! We will be back.More

Sushi Kyoto has been around a long time. They are always prompt with the service. The atmosphere is simple and unassuming. The sushi is very good and fresh. The bento box at lunchtime is one of the best deals around and gives you a diverse...array items to keep your meal interesting.More

In Dallas, let's face it, you are not going to get top notch sushi. But Sushi Kyoto serves good quality food, and the service is great.

We eat here quite often and they never fail us. The food is top quality, and the location is right next to SMU in the heart of the Park Cities in Dallas. It's small and quaint, but remains one of our "go to" gourmet takeout...favorites.More

Located in Snyder Plaza near SMU, Sushi Kyoto is a small neighborhood sushi restaurant. Not only is the service good, but the menu options my friend and I sampled were tasty and fresh. We began with a Fried Tofu appetizer, followed by Vegetable Tempura, which...were both flavorful and well prepared. Then a pair of rolls, including the Salmon and Dallas Star Roll, were the finale to our meal. Definitely a fun spot for sushi, with fresh ingredients, good service and reasonable pricing. Had dinner here after the Christmas holidays, was passing by and saw it was open, so we walked right it. A few college students filled the back room, as the place was spacious. The crispy salmon skin roll took a while to arrive, as we...were told that it "takes a while for the skin to settle and form as it is soft..." whatever that means... The Calif roll is the same as all the others, nothing special. The Teriyaki roll was the best one, prepared fresh and the teriyaki sauce tasted good with the sushi, and the cucumber was still crunchy to the bite too. I'd come back again, maybe to try something else...More

At Kyoto the service is always excellent and the food exceptional. Enjoyed the chicken and shrimp hibachi for my birthday and it was great.

Across the street from Southern Methodist University, in a small strip center shopping mall is an excellent sushi restaurant. The restaurant is small but inviting, the service good. There were six of us there for dinner. There are menu options for those who do not...eat sushi. One in our party had the chicken teriyaki and it was excellent. Others in the group all has sushi. The edamame was fresh and tasty. Everyone enjoyed the salmon roll, California roll, spicy tuna roll, and the avocado roll. All in all it was a good experience and we will return.More

I would come here again! I came after work late one weekday and was in the mood for sushi. I drive by this place every day to go to work and always wondered about it. The place was a little empty, but then again, it...was late on a weekday. It is at a very convenient location across from SMU. I can see that parking could be a problem during peaking dining hours. I sat at the sushi bar to watch the Chef prepare my rolls. I tried a variety of rolls I have never seen before and was not disappointed! I will definitely come here again!More

First off the parking here sucks and its very difficult to find a space. Our experience at Sushi Kyoto was just ok. The food was kinda bland and lacking variety. Very basic rolls with basic flavor.
