We take the Ferry to Crystal Beach and dine at the Stingaree several times a year when visiting the Galveston area. I usually order the fried soft shell crab and it has always been excellent. We have been trying to eat healthy lately so I ordered the grilled soft shell crab. What a disappointment. What was served on the plate did not even resemble a crab. I will not say what it did resemble. We will return but will not order the above.

Not much is opened as far as eateries go during the “off season” in Crystal Beach but Stingaree’s has excellent food and fast service.
Hubs had the burger and I had the fried shrimp platter.
Burger was huge with handmade juicy patties…no pre-formed patties here.
The fried shrimp came with 7 fairly large butterflied shrimp and fries. The shrimp were breaded and cooked perfectly and oh so good.
We’ll return every time we go to Crystal Beach! Highly recommend.

Arrived about 4:00 so no wait for a table, but we were told there was no server at the table we wanted even though other tables were occupied & being served - not 5 minutes later a group was seated there. We had to remind the waiter of a missing appetizer, it arrived after the meals were served. Worst margarita I’ve ever had. Most of the food was barely warm (at best), everyone’s food tasted mediocre (at best). It was so loud inside I got a headache!! 3 stars is being generous. Would not recommend.

After birding on High Island, this is our go-to spot for lunch. The service can be, well, relaxed, but we pass the time watching the tugs, barges and pleasure boats on the Intercoastal Waterway. Seasonal seafood is the thing to order here. On our most recent visit, we treated ourselves to lump crab in lemon butter, pricey but worth the splurge. One of us had a huge baked potato as a side, the other a cup of red beans and rice that was tasty but a tad bland for this close to Louisiana. Our mixed salads hit the spot.

We are here on Bolivar Peninsula for a fall break, enjoying a quite beach and decided to try Stingeree’s rather than drive into Galveston. Definitely a good choice.
The mahi-mahi tacos were yummy as were the stuffed fried shrimp. We even took a cue from the folks who sat at a neighboring table and ordered Bread Pudding to go! What a warm treat. Daniel was an excellent waiter and the view of the water came with watching several boats come and go.
I appreciate that they allow patrons with issues to use the automated lift rather than struggling to traverse the stairs.
Keep doing what you do, Stingaree’s!!

Very nice beach place, on the water also has a marina that you can pull up to. There a upstairs and downstairs, the upstairs has more choices, we had the fried mushrooms and shared the seafood basket we also shared the bread pudding with bourbon sauce that was good, downstairs is more casual with hamburgers, nachos, smaller baskets. There’s also live music .

Picked up food from here while renting a place nearby. Was directed to wait in the bar underneath the restaurant, Down Under.
None of the staff wearing masks, patrons not wearing masks, no social distancing, people dancing & crowded around the bar....I felt extremely uncomfortable for the short time I was there.
I’m ashamed to have given these people my money...businesses like this who ignore the safety protocols, RUIN it for all of the honest, hardworking, & respectable bars & restaurants who are struggling to stay open while serving their guests RESPONSIBLY.
To top it all off, staff was rude & food was mediocre at best. Frozen chicken tenders, greasy fried oysters, bland gumbo.

Outstanding fresh Gulf seafood cooked any way you want. Inventive chef specials, and they will even cook the fish you caught if you want. Well stocked bar, live music on some weekends, and a beautiful sunset view of the bay. It's upstairs, so not sure if they have good handicapped access. Call if you need to know. But the seafood and view were worth the trip. Can't wait to go back.

Love this place! We heard there was a 30 minute wait for our table inside so we went down below to get a drink while we waited. It was fun, lively, and a wonderful band was entertaining the crowd. We were actually disappointed when our table was ready. The food and water views inside were stunning and my grilled redfish was fresh and delicious. Also, I can’t eat gluten, and there were several options for me. We’ll definitely return!

We arrived around 6 on a week night in July and were told a two hour wait which we understood. Family party of 7. Polite hostess said all on the list would be served taking them way past their 8:00 closing. Two hours came and went and we were not called. Unfortunately mosquitos swarmed and didn’t leave. We finally realized it was an impossible situation and left. We were never texted. We understand the food is delicious but we’re very reluctant to try again this year! Hope the management figures how to manage the crowds. I feel sorry for their staff!

Service was great, atmosphere just as you'd expect and the seafood was delicious. If you go, ask to sit by the window so you can watch the boats in the bay. Hubs got the grilled seafood platter and loved it. I got the ribeye and it was dry, chewy and overdone. The baked potato was also way overdone. The skin on it was crumbly! Not used to that and won't ever ask for a steak or potato again. What I will get again is the frozen Pina Colada! It was probably the best one I've had.

We visit Bolivar Peninsula at least once a year and we can really count on Stingaree for good seafood.
Our servers during this year’s two visits, Tiffany and Brenda, as well as Kyle, the manager, were extremely kind and helpful. Staffing a restaurant seems extremely difficult at the moment and they handled the stress and crowd with aplomb. Well done! They deserve raises, all around!

We ordered to go online last Thursday for our 50th anniversary lunch. Planned this for a long time. After many many great experiences at this restaurant, we had high expectations. No masks on any employees at pickup. Got our food home and had 2 styrofoam containers with a small piece of fish each. No cole slaw as advertised. 2 6oz cups of pinto beans and rice. 2 splurges of bread pudding that required a knife to eat. 2 margaritas from mix, potent. Bill = $76. Lunch. Never again. This is not the quality we knew. Won’t go back. So sad.

We used to love coming here pre-COVID. The downstairs bar/deck area is still the best and has great views of the water. We checked in upstairs and waited for our table. The hostess brought us to our table, right beside a door outside and another table full of people. Politely asked if we could move to an empty table away from the door and large group but was told we’d have to go back on the wait list. They had 4+ EMPTY tables in an area we asked about. Spent a $60+ dinner having people walk by us and hit chairs trying to go out to a deck. It was semi chilly outside too so it wasn’t very comfortable every time the door opened. Only saw ONE staff member with a mask on. Our waitress was friendly but didn’t check up on us much. We love the crab stuffed jalapeños! Might just order those to go and get a drink from the bar downstairs neck time for dinner on the deck.

We enjoyed our time here. The service was good and we really enjoyed our entrees (we all got shrimp or catfish). Calamari (appetizer) was mediocre. Despite that I would have given this place five stars except that they don't have a changing table in any bathroom and also while we were seated by the window which had a very nice view, the windows were pretty obviously dirty on both the inside and out.
