This is a smaller restaurant worth seeking out. It is true Mexican food and definitely not fast food. Service is excellent as well. Prices are very reasonable.

We had lunch here for a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of people here, seemed pretty popular with the locals. My wife and I both ordered from the pick two menu, each choosing a chicken enchilada and I chose a tamale for the second item....The food was hot and fresh, served with a side of beans and rice, along with lettuce and tomato. I’m a true aficionado of Mexican food. This is partially a result of having been born and raised in Texas and partially a result of my own beanerd heritage. I had read the glowing reviews of Rana’s and showed up with my family and high...expectations. My expectations were not met. Maybe I was wrong to expect so much from an eatery named “Rana’s” (which translates as “Frog’s”). Seems like they could come up with a more appetizing name for their restaurant (even “Magdalena’s Dirty Feet” would be an improvement). The queso we had to start was thin, watery and lacking in zest. The quesadillas were boring and lacking in flavor. The cheese they used tasted like it might be the same brand they use at Chuck E. Cheese! My pollo en mole was dry and chewy. The one bright spot was the Fish Cancún that my son ordered. He thought it was pretty good. But to keep things in perspective, my son is 10 years old. He thinks Cancún is a type of fish and he often puts ketchup on his ketchup. Service was fine and the “hole in the wall” ambience has its appeal, but they must do a lot better with the quality of the food they serve. A great little Mexican restaurant with cheap, delicious meals. The chimichanga is good, but the mini tacos are by far the best tacos in town. Corn tortilla, beef, cilantro, onion and whatever you do - don't forget to ask for the green sauce. This was...my go-to spot when I worked in that area. My mouth is watering just writing this review. Back at Rana’s again for a fix of the best Mexican food in the area. This is a little gem, huddled in a strip mall on 105. Don’t expect TexMex, this is real Mexican food and the flavors are light, refreshing, and well balanced. Try...a mix of the antojitos (appetizers) as a change. The empanadas are a long way from the usual meat wrapped in pastry, and delicious. Combine these with a couple of orders of the mini-tacos with different fillings, and you’ve got a beautiful meal. If you haven’t tried Tinga de Pollo (pulled chicken in chipotle tomato sauce) go for it! The rest of the menu is equally well done. Service is excellent, and the house wines good. I normally don’t care much about Mexican foods since there are not big different whichever you go. But this place is what I liked a lot. Good size of portion, a bit different menu and Frizrn Margaritas are tasty. I will definitely go back!!

The food is amazing. Be sure to try the guacamole. . .excellent. We had the shrimp enchiladas and enchiladas Mexicana. Both were delicious. We met the owner and discussed how the recipes have been handed down from his family. I strongly suggest that you try...Rana's. You will not be disappointed. We like to try different places and apparently are picky. We rarely like places enough to be “regulars”. This is the exception. The answer is always “yes” here as to what you’d like to have or would like something on the menu adjusted to your...personal preferences. From the service to the skinny peach margarita to the food, it was outstanding!! Started with the guacamole that was freshly made with huge chunks of avocado. We had the Hawaiian fish tacos that were really good and the mini tacos. The mini tacos were...so yummy that I can’t wait to go back! Had the carnitas, pollo Tinga, and Pastor. Spicy Green sauce was perfect on them! Since I love mole I had a single chicken mole enchilada, and it did not disappoint. He mole sauce was rich with flavor!! Definitely a place not to miss!!More

I love Rans's Mexican Grill. Everything I have had there was wonderful. I most often get the Mini Tacos. Last visit I tried the Enchiladas Mexicanas & they were great. Love their salsa & queso. It seems that every dish is their attempt to impress....I learned that the recipes are 3rd generation Southern Mexican passed down from the owners mother from her mother. Be sure & ask for the green sauce. It's very good & hot! Service has always been excellent & the food comes quickly. Portions are large & oh so tasty. This could be the best Mexican food in Conroe & beyond.More
