While traveling through Conroe Texas we stopped at Vernon’s Kountry Katfish. I ordered the fried catfish with fried okra. The catfish was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the fried shrimp which came with 5 large shrimps and the shrimp was just as good. I also ordered the good pie for dessert and loved it. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Been a regular customer since 2002 (18 Yrs.) never disappointed! From burgers, seafood, hamburger steak with grilled onions its all very good served up with friendly service. The dinner salad with homemade ranch is absolutely THE BEST.

My wife and I were in Conroe, Texas for just one night. We decided to try Kuntry Katfish after looking at the menu online. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo and crab cakes. My wife had blackened shrimp. Everything was delicious and hot. When we sat down, the waitress brought over a plate of hush puppies and diced pickled green tomatoes. I never had pickled green tomatoes before and I was surprised at how tasty they were. The food came out fast and the portions were more than sufficient.
If I ever find myself in Conroe, Texas again, I will go back and try the catfish. It looked amazing from what I saw on the table next to ours.

Six of us went after recital. Second visit for us. Covid response reasonable. Had free adult eggnog but presentation was not cleanly. Food is mostly fried which is not our desire. She had fried shrimp rat were over breaded. I had grilled tilapia with crayfish etouffee which had limited flavor. Pricing ok and service very good. There are better choices in the region.

I've heard about Vernon's Kuntry Katfish for some time, and I'm a lover of well-made catfish. While it's a bit out of my way, my recent visit made me wish I had started eating here long ago. Very tasty catfish and sides, a great environment, and an indication by the staff that they appreciate their customers and want you to have a good meal and a good experience. So many other good choices on the menu, so I know this is my new go-to restaurant.

We had dinner here on Sunday January 16th with friends and family in town for our sons wedding. Shrimp and catfish were delicious and the hush puppies were full of flavor. Our server was quick friendly and very helpful answering questions from a large group not familiar with some of the menu items. I highly recommend this restaurant for great family dining

Awesome hush puppies with pickled Green tomato wedges....then delicious fried catfish with red beans fried okra, & French fries. Excellent serving sizes, you will not leave hungry! Only negative was home fries were soft, not crispy as they should be!

We stopped by Vernon's for dinner after our visit to the wolf sanctuary and, as usual, we were quite happy with our choice. We arrived early enough to be ahead of the Saturday night crowd so we had no issues being quickly seated. Our waitperson, just like each time we visit, was, was friendly and efficient. The hushpuppies, catfish and coleslaw were all very good and we had enough left over to bring home. This is a real "do not miss" if in the area.

We had a table for 17 people in the back room for a birthday party. The room held other tables, but it was still fairly quiet. Our waitress, Paige, was great. She got all the orders correct and was there to refill drinks regularly. When you sit down, they bring hush puppies and pickled green tomatoes. Everyone that ate catfish and shrimp said they were delicious. I had the hamburger steak with onions, and it was well cooked and tasty. The best thing was the sweet potato fries. They were thick, and you could actually taste the sweet potatoes. We all paid separately, and Paige kept it straight. It was a great birthday lunch.

This was my first visit to Kuntry Katfish but not the last. I ordered the Grilled Blackened Katfish with rice pilaf, green beans, salad w/vinaigrette, iced tea, and blackberry cobbler. The catfish was two large fillets (whole fish) seasoned just right, delicious, and tasty! The green beans were pretty good. The salad was a typical side salad with a good balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The iced tea was just about perfect and it is served in real glass tumblers instead of plastic-two thumbs up! The blackberry cobbler was very good and had the right ratio of crust to blackberry filling. The portion sizes were all hearty and filling. The service was fast & friendly. The prices are comparable to other catfish places. They have plenty of indoor seating. If you want a hearty catfish meal, this is the place to go.

My wife and I, two of our adult sons, a daughter-in-law and an adult grandson were looking for a nearby place to have seafood with our visiting son and his two teenaged daughters. Vernon's filled the bill. We did not have too long to wait for a large table. We ordered quite a variety, although several had their traditional fried catfish platters. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and there were several "to go" boxes taken home! Great family meal.

We always like to eat at restaurants that we don't have at home and we love catfish so when we saw the name of this restaurant we just had to try it. We were a little tired so we walked in and made an order to go. The place was busy and people were coming and going. But that didn't stop our order from being done and within 20 minutes we were on our way back to the place we were staying.
The catfish was delicious! The fries were good as was the coleslaw. The pinto beans were great, cooked just the way I like them. Tarter sauce was good too.
I would definitely eat there again if I should happen to be in the area.

We were seated just after 11AM. A little while later the table next to us sat down. Somehow that table got there drinks and ordered food before a waitress even asked us what we wanted to drink. Finally lost patience and went to find a waitress. They were all in the back standing around gossiping. Obviously there is a lack of management issue her

Been years since l have been here but it did not disappoint. Had the lunch catfish with 2 sides and a drink for $10.50. Fish was fresh and crispy. Hush puppies were real good. Sides of okra and green beans were good also. It’s a lot of food for the money and well worth it. Can’t wait to go back. Others in the party had hamburger steak and chicken fried steak. Said both were excellent

We visited Vernon's for the first time in a couple of years and were very disappointed. The food has gone from bright, fresh flavors to dull and flat. It's probably the oil they use to fry everything - our fish and fries both tasted a little dirty. The catfish itself was also not as fresh and firm as we remember.
We probably won't go back.
