Best chicken fried steak in Texas, and home of the BEST DRESSED BEER. The music is amazing and so is the staff.

Nice country place. They have semi named bands playing every weekend thru the summer season. Lots of cold beer and mixed drinks.

Just ate at HP, not a great experience at all. Service was friendly but extremely slow, apparently a staffing issue which is not terrible and might be worth the wait if the HP CATTLE co had steaks….or shrimp (in the title of the restaurant). A large table arrived after us that somehow did get steaks though the menu didn’t and when asked our servers, both said only Thursdays, weird. My husband’s chicken fried steak was very good and cooked well. The rest of our party’s food was mediocre at best, salads are bland and presentation was not good. 2 of us are celiacs (unable to eat wheat, barley, rye) and told the waitress we CANNOT have croutons. Obviously they were put on our salads and taken back off because there were small pieces found in our salad to which at that point we kept eating since we were already glutened (obviously not the other croutons). Standard restaurant practice is to remake the dish if a cross contamination has occurred. I would expect an establishment like this to know this. We were not looking for compensation, simply making servers/staff aware. We did get an apology, which was appreciated and told our meal would be comped next visit. Unfortunately, after the entire experience, we most likely will not return unless it’s absolutely necessary.

We had the Ribeye Steak one evening, and went back the next for a Live concert. We enjoyed dancing and listening to the music.

Average all around...took kids, needed a meal and it was 2 miles from our cabin. One other party of 8 besides us, so place was pretty empty. Our waitress wasn’t very friendly, didn’t check on us or refill drinks, she was busy with her one other table. Menu was limited, we ordered salads and tenders from the kids menu. Nothing special, portions were big though. I would definitely drive 2 miles the other direction next time to try the other restaurant nearby...nothing unique about the food or ambiance here. And when we left, that was the darkest parking lot I’ve ever been in! Not many choices out here, it was fine but for 3 people with tip, no alcohol, one person was a kid, almost $70, I’d rather go elsewhere.

Nice place to meet and dine with friends-Limited menu- prices seemed high for the quality of food-Service was slow-although the staff was very polite.

This place should not even be listed as a restaurant. First the service is terrible.The $35 steak is mostly fat and served over cooked after at least a 35 minute wait. The menu includes about 20 items and half are appetizers. After the 4 steaks we ordered at our table came out wrong we ask to see a manager. We were told we could come to his office he never showed up at our table. As we were leaving this place the bartender made the comment "glad y'all enjoyed our steaks". Don't waste your time there are better places with good customer service in this town.

Ate here before the Koe Wetzel concert with another family. The place itself is great atmosphere - food was pretty good. My chicken breast tasted WONDEFRUL but was tiny!
Overall a must go to and eat - if they have a concert, go! it is organized with plenty of seating and several places to get drinks for young and old..

Was really happy to see that the main area of the concert venue was covered as it was raining the night we went. Get there early if you want a space close to the stage.

Always have cool, unique art for sale. Reasonable prices too. Very nice inside bar, and we have had fun when we visited for concerts, horseshoe tournaments, or just to hang out and have a few cold beers.

We did not go to eat but went for the Josh Abbott Band concert on June 23rd. We stopped by there earlier in the day to check the place out. It does have an indoor seating area to eat. In the back is a big covered area with a stage on the end. Out to the side are some picnic tables, a play area for smaller kids and lots of grass in a fenced in area.
For the concert there was an opening band show started at 9pm. We just got there and decided to bring chairs as the covered area would be too hot. You can bring chairs only for the grass area which had a nice breeze at night.
There are a few bar areas around to get drinks plus they have big containers of water for free to keep you hydrated. You can not bring in coolers or our own drinks.
There is plenty of parking. Different concerts they have through the summer start and end at different times. After the first band ended Josh Abbott didn't start till around 11. So it was a late night with lots of people still there. I think it was going to stay open till 1. We had teens there who did get to see a few adults who drank a bit much having a good time!
If there is a big name there playing, plan to not have much dancing room. They all stand right in front of the stage the whole night. They do have other things going on throughout the week.
I bought our tickets on line but you still have to get a 21 and up wristband and show id. Kids get a different wrist band. Check out their website.

Concan ,tx is heaven on earth, no where else like it. When it comes to lodging, dining, golf, entertainment, folks look no further than house pasture.looking for a great hunting outfitter, you got it. Contact house pasture for one heck of a texas time. Great people great setting great time. 27 years of visiting concan , they are it!
