The brisket sandwich was good, the broccoli salad was good. The bun was okay. Good iced tea. Now for the reason I’m giving only three stars: the women’s bathroom. I spent my college years in food service. Dirty bathrooms in a restaurant are a deal...breaker for me. The bases of the toilets were covered in accumulated grime , and the bowls needed a good scrubbing with beach.More

Great food. I had the catfish and others had the bar b que We definitely will stop here in the future. If you order grill catfish the wait is about 15-20 minutes as they cook it to your order

We stopped for a Saturday breakfast here on our way to Brenham from Houston. We split a cherry filled pastry and a sausage, cheese, and jalapeño kolache. I was expecting great from the reviews I read. It was certainly above average but not excellent. The...restaurant area was very clean and service was very fast and courteous. Business was light with few customers in the building. No crowds. Tasty, but not enough so to go out of your way to visit.More

Stopped in for dinner. The brisket and sausage were terrible and it was lukewarm. The sauce was some of the worst I have eaten. Bread was not offered. We left most of the meat on the plate. The black-eyed peas were very good but again...lukewarm. The potato salad was very good. We will not return.More

We stopped by Chappell Hill Bakery & Deli after a day trip to Brenham. We picked up some Kolaches and Sausage for lunch and dinner. We were a little surprised the Fruit Kolaches (bag of 6) were better than the Sausage & Cheese Kolaches. I...was expecting a little more from the Chappell Hill Sausage given the price. The Apple and Strawberry Kolaches were delicious. My son (who loves food) thought there was way too much dough and not enough fruits. For a weekend lunch, we had some of the Chappell Hill Three Cheese Sausage and Green Onion Sausage. My wife liked their sausage because it wasn't too spicy. I enjoyed both although I would only get the Three Cheese Sausage next time. It's possible the food is better at the restaurant. Service was okay. If we pick up items as we pass through, I would stick to a bag of Fruit Kolaches and Three Cheese Sausage.More

I stopped by for the Monday lunch special which is two large pork chops with 2 sides and Texas toast. Huge pork chops that are delicious and I chose the cole slaw and potatoes as sides. Add the Texas toast and quite a meal for...under $10.00. a very large and diverse menu. Many great bbq dishes and a great bakery counter. Check the brisket tacos for breakfast.More

This is a handy place to meet your friends from Houston when you’re living in Austin. A couple of hours easy drive from Austin and my friends drove an hour from H town. Plenty of parking easy to find. Lots of seating there. In a...booth or at a table. You can order BBQ and Chicken Ribs and more. With lots of side dishes to choose from. Then there’s the bakery side with a large choice of pies and sweet pastries. XX SA n grab beer or soft drinks. We all ordered different dishes and no one complained👏 it’s all very good and Texas Tasty! Yummy They have a tv with the sports on. It’s also good for take away food if you’re on the run. You can call and order ahead then swoop in and grab your grub! Definitely worth a stop to eat.More

Driving through town at lunch time, we decided to stop and grab a bbq sandwich to take on the road. Both sandwiches were heaped with chopped beef and sauce added to one. Once underway we discovered the buns disintegrated if you try to hold it....You cannot eat one of these like burger . We had to stop and find forks.... excellent bbq, but you will a need a forkMore

Friendly staff, walk through line to order, plenty of seating. The brisket had a good smoke ring, it was moist and very tasty. The ribs were a little on the dry side, but still had good flavor. The jalapeño Mac and cheese was the bomb!!!...From the bakery we ordered two different slices of pie, one slice of fried pie and a danish for the road, all were excellent. The only complaint I have was the men’s restroom was dirty. Definitely would go back.More

We visit here regularly, food is always good and the bread excellent. They have a servery and/or table service. Classic American food menu. Something for everyone. Good place to stop when passing by on Hwy 290, easy on/off.

I was very disappointed. I order Bar-be-que, when I got may order the bar-be-que was little cold. It did not taste like any bar be que I have ever tasted before, the sauce was like they open a can of tomato, did not taste like...barbeque sauce. No way this was barbeque . Heading to the Coast and decided to stop for a snack - very nice building and interior with a lot of snack options and loads of seating. Waited 10mins to get served (the girl was very apologetic though) - got a cream cheese kolache which...was very tasty. On the way out stopped at another counter and waited (again) about 5 mins to inquire about some wine they had on display - finally we stopped a an employee walking past and asked if there was anyone working at this particular counter to which she replied “not right now”. She asked if she could help us and to say the least she was very unhelpful. Ended up leaving and not purchasing wine, which was disappointing because they had several interesting options on display. I don’t know if this was just an off day, but for the size of the place they really need more staff.More
