Since 1984, Dairy Palace has been a casual, family-friendly, family-owned restaurant in Canton, Texas, home of the world-famous First Monday Trade Days. We're open 24 hours a day Wednesday through Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday we are open from 8 am until midnight. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and over 32 flavors of Blue Bell ice cream. We are know for our world famous burgers, including our specialty burgers and exotic meat burgers. We serve breakfast all day long. We also have Tex Mex, Dinner plates like Fried Catfish and Chicken Fried Steak, Salads, and Hot off the Grill Sandwiches. Come visit us before work, on a road trip, after the game, or for a midnight snack!

Dinners are not fast food here, but the reasonable wait for them to freshly prepare our food was well worth it. We got two hamburger steak dinners with salads and onion rings. Steaks were smothered in onions and came with a bowl of gravy. The first bite was absolutely delicious. So were bites two thru ten. Onion rings were superb. Wife got a black walnut milkshake made with Blue Bell ice cream. We had to get a to-go box to take the leftovers. I can't throw out food this good.

This place always seems busy and our hotel clerk recommend it for breakfast so we stopped in the next day for some grub. You walk in and place your order at the counter and give your name and the food will be brought out to you. The food came out within a reasonable time and staff was friendly and attentive.
Wife had a regular 2 egg breakfast with hash browns, bacon and side of gravy (gravy was excellent) I had the the omelet with sausage, ham, bell peppers and cheese with a side of hash browns as well. I didn’t care to much for the omelet as it just the meats and peppers inside with sliced cheese on it which I didn’t care for. Everything thing was good.

After eating burgers here about 6 months ago, we thought they were the best burgers ever! So when we had the opportunity to eat there again (we live out of town) we were excited. Ordered burgers again, and they were burned on the edges, not just crisp, but burned, and the meat patty was dry as a boot. They were not good at all! Also the fries were borderline cold and soggy. We were so very disappointed.. If we go back, it won't be for a burger.

Trash on floor at various places around restaurant. Uncleaned tables. Hamburger was good but onion rings way overcooked. It took a long time to get our food. We stared at this table (see pic) for 20 minutes waiting on our food before someone finally cleaned it off. They were not understaffed just undermotivated.

It's hard to explain the way I felt when I seen the breakfast burritos on the menu,I thought heck yeah I'll take 2, $4.99 a piece, order totaled 42$ and some change. We ordered for 2 adults and my 2 daughters, they were busy as usual and so we waited about 20 mins or so in line to receive the food. All was good until I opened my burrito s at the house, it looked like a very unskilled person threw up inside of 2 tortillas, on top of this I asked to cut the onions,and there was more onion than meat and egg.. complete waste of time and money.i am a resident of Canton Texas and this place is getting worse each time. Hell with it I'll drive to Terrell to eat.

After many yrs of grabbing a burger here; and having 3 not so good experiences, I had decided to stay clear of the burgers here for awhile. So, this visit I decided to sample their “supposedly” made in house chicken fried steak with breakfast. Served with eggs, hash browns, toast or biscuits. First of all, I asked the lady at the counter, if this steak is homemade: She replied “Yes!”… If so, I need to commend the cook for cutting this piece of leather into a perfect circle. However, it’s clear this patty is pre-made: Not only from the shape, but the breading, texture, and taste. The patty is about 1/4” thick before breading: and the flavor just wasn’t there. Add to that, it was tougher than a Texas judge… Probably the worst example of an attempt at CFS I’ve ever tried. Then, the eggs were brought out medium instead of over easy, as ordered. They do serve you 2 biscuits: But they were dry and bland. Food gets a 1: and that’s being generous. Service was friendly…
At one time I’m sure this place was one of Canton’s better burger options. And the mishaps from a few over-cooked burgers could be a couple of simple issues… But after what was served here as a breakfast option today, the recent puzzling issues seem to be self explanatory.
If you’re looking for a fresh made from scratch breakfast, keep looking.

The fried fish was dry and tasted like stale oil. The onions weren’t worth eating. Cole slaw was adequate.
Thirty years ago it was excellent, but something has gone wrong. I think thrives on tourists that need never come back.

Burgers look pre made and are dry with not much taste. Not a lot to say about this place except would not eat here again. Maybe I should open a five guys next door and see how long this place stays in business.

On the way to Caddo Lake, we stopped off in Canton for a bite to eat. First sign we saw was for "Dairy Palace". We pulled up to their "World Famous Burgers" signage and went in to order. The have "Exotic" burgers...Venison, Elk, Smoked Duck, Bison, Catfish, Wild Boar, Turkey and SPAM! We ordered Elk and Duck. The Elk was gamey and juicy. The Duck was pastrami-style slices of breast, smoked and moist. The buns were STANDOUT and both sandwiches with a housemade plum sauce! Fries were delicious, though, not crispy. 100% a must go to again location if in the area!

Went through the drive thru tonight and ordered a burger, steak finger basket, steak sandwich and a chili dog. When we got the food home it was still warm and smelled great.
We loved all the food and will be back soon.

Good some of the time, better hit and miss than McDonald's.
The line is a mess ALWAYS and many times unneeded , Up side is the large menu but the food quality has gone way down in just a year. 24 hours is an upside but the wait is bad if you're hungry. It's a last resort place but the staff is friendly and that kinda makes up for the other issues.

We visited the Dairy Palace several times on our visit to Canton, Texas to attend the First Monday Trade Days. The Dairy Palace was within walking distance from our motel. We visited for breakfast and dinner. The food was great and the service was fast. They have a great Blue Bell ice cream selection.

We loved it! We saw the green awning building from the gas station next door. Who can resist a restaurant with artsy “trimmings” and bold sign “HAMBURGERS ”? We were hungry. Our meals were well prepared and the patty melt was delicious. The coleslaw and onion rings were too. There was a trainee at the cash register. It wasn’t zippy service but a great break from rainy day driving. Just off the interstate 20.
I repeat”LOVED the food and ambiance and tidy restrooms!!” Americana at its best.

They have 23 different flavors of burgers. Our granson tried the elk burger. He said it was a little gamey but good. My husband had the chili cheese dog. It was 2 foot long hotdogs on one bun. Chili wasn't too spicy. The brisket was a little overdone but everything was good portions. The ice cream is bluebell and a lot of different flavors to choose from. Will probably go again before we leave.

From the signs and the exterior you would expect this to be a typical burger joint. No Way. Oh there are lots of burger made from every kind of critter you can imagine (and probably a few you can't) and from past visits they are very good. On this trip we had a chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and a biscuit. Not the greatest CFS I've ever had but from a burger joint??? Excellent. Who could have expected that? The biscuit was more dinner roll than biscuit but I ate all of it and wanted more. The seven million flavors of hand dipped ice cream (I may have exaggerated that just a tad) was an unexpected bonus. Don't miss this place.
