Had an early dinner here over the weekend. My husband and I both had the pony chicken fried steak. The food was very tasty. I loved the muffin that came with the plate. The corn was good, but could've used a little more seasoning (butter). Will eat here again.

You order from the menu at the counter and then your name is called when your food is ready. I mention this because it causes people to pause at first. The food is home cooking and very good. The sizes range from pony to large. Believe me pony is large. I had the meatloaf and my husband had chicken fried... More

When you're looking for good country cooking with enough leftover to feed you a couple more times, hungry horse is the place to go. Chicken fried steak overlaps the plate. Fried catfish crisp and delicious. And don't miss their potato slices (fries) dipped in their buttermilk honey mustard dip! Yummy!!

If you are looking for comfort food, this is the place for it. You will find everything from Chicken Fried Steak to Pork Chops to Catfish. They have the best sides and great service. Do not hesitate to put this on your list of things to do in the Hill Country.

The food here is very good. Great selections. Service is very slow so plan on being here a while. It's worth the wait for good home cooked food.

Little confused walcking into the Hungry Horse as you order like a fast food restaurant. This is no fast food joint. They offer good ol' home cooking, they even have liver and onions. It's good filling food as healthy or not as you like. . If you leave hungry, you must have tried to. They are biker and family friendly.

We asked a shop owner where she liked to eat and she directed us to The Hungry Horse Restaurant, across from the court house. They have weekday specials and casseroles (can get to-go meals) and the fried shrimp sandwich was excellent! The bacon cheeseburger was large and loaded with bacon. Service is friendly and quick. Walk up to order and... More
