We have eaten at several Mexican restaurants in the area. This one by far is the best. Good happy hour prices and the margaritas are top notch. Good attentive service. The food is flavorful and true Tex-mex. definitely our new to go place. And the...restrooms are very clean.More

Although overall a sanitary place, it took us 20 minutes to be seated (not busy) and gossiping of the employees everywhere! We asked for a booth with a charging outlet and we were told to move to clean table because they weren’t going to wipe...it off for us after asking multiple times. Food is alright , not the best. The only good thing about this experience was how fast the food came out because my family was starving! Very poor attitude of employees!!More

The shrimp was bad in that it gave my wife and I food poisoning. It was the only meal we shared for two days, so there is no doubt as to the source of our sickness.

This place has real Mexican food, not the washed out gruel that somehow passes for Mexican food these days. I don’t understand their low position in Trip Advisor reviews....but then Buc-ee’s is #1 so there’s clearly something wrong somewhere!! For a vegetarian option, try the...Monterrey enchiladas with black beans. And watch the red hot sauce, it’s HOT!More

Nice sit down Mexican food place. They also serve burgers and they have a kids menu. The enchiladas were really good and they have a couple of vegetarian options. I liked the Monterrey. Skip the guacamole, something was off with that. The queso is a...better choice, and it’s much less common where I usually eat. Reasonable prices.More

This place is nice but very dark. And the selections on the menu are excellent, varied, and delicious. The waiters were very attentive until it came to pay our bill. After we waited for over 10 minutes, I finally stood up and waited quite a...while even then until a lady asked if we needed something. She finally got our bill so we could pay and leave.More

The food is very good and affordably priced. The staff is friendly and keep close attention to your needs. They also have other styles of food than Mexican. I had the grilled shrimp on a bed of Spanish rice with the steamed vegetable medley. Delicious!

We were here as part of a group of 12. They sat us a tables that were too small for our group and when our food came it was piled very close. Had to remove chips and salsa. Food came our at 2 different times...and we had to ask for our fajita sides. When all was said and done, we realized that the tip was added to our bills. If my husband looked closely we would have double tipped. Food was very good though. I would not recommend this place for large groups but great for families.More

Great food, great service, and very fair prices - fair, not cheap, for the high quality and large portions. Tried Morelia Mexican based on a recommendation of a client who lives in Bastrop. Tried the Chicken Parilla, which is grilled over a real mesquite fire....Fantastic flavor. Fresh real vegetables are offered as a side. The vegetables are fresh, not Sysco frozen junk. Salsa has real flavor and some kick to it, no Yankee tomato soup. This is real Tex Mex, highly recommend!More

We normally go to another Mexican restaurant but decided to try Morelia's out. The food was very good and their chips and salsa were even better. Good food, good service, great chips and salsa. We will definitely come eat here more often.

Great service, good food and the best Margarita in town! Easy access off of Hwy 71 with plenty of parking right out front.

Driving from Austin to Houston presents mostly empty spaces, with a scattering of small towns along the way. We found ourselves making the trek back home from Austin one day when everyone felt the need for lunch. Mexican food was on our minds and that...was enough to lead us to visit Morelia Mexican Grill in Bastrop. This restaurant features a pleasant interior that has colorful surroundings, dim lighting, etc and has the look and feel of a Mexican/TexMex restaurant, as it should. The seating and service are prompt and even though we were not in a hurry, we were treated promptly and appreciated that we did not have to wait. For food, Morelia Mexican grill serves appetizers, soup, salad, tacos, fajitas, combo plates, chimichangas, burritos, and enchiladas; in other words, the usual Mexican fare. They even serve other items you may not expect to find in this type of restaurant, like steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes. Appetizers might be a good place to start if you’re exceptionally hungry. Some of them, like the quesadillas, can serve as a main course meal while others, like the bean tostada, are really meant as a warm- up to your main course. My family and I mostly ordered combo meals when we visited, consisting of enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and traditional sides such as rice and refried beans. We found the quality of the food good overall and it tasted fresh- much better than what I sometimes experience in Mexican restaurants that prepare large volumes of food ahead of time and stick everything in a microwave before serving to the customers. The taste and freshness were better at Morelia Mexican Grill and we left feeling satisfied. The small towns scattered between Austin and Houston are often necessary stopping points when you travel between the two cities. Eating is often a must when traveling from one major Texas city to next and Morelia Mexican Grill is a very good option when you’re craving Mexican or TexMex food. It’s just a short drive east from Austin and the food, service, and atmosphere are easily enough to earn this dining establishment an above average rating.More

Restaurant was clean. Service was excellent. Everyone at table was totally satisfied and enjoyed their outing. I had chili relleno with fajita steak and it was as good or better than any I have ever had. If you don't stop here, it's your loss.
