We arrive at 1215p for lunch and waited 10 minutes for an inside table. Ashley was our friendly server. I took a look at the small salad bar, but it was just the normal salad bar stuff, so opted for the lunch special, Red, White and Bleu Burger with fries and tea for $10.99. Tasty hamburger. I would certainly order another.
Blackboard sign and menu displayed two specials of the day and price. Other was beer batter fish. We also noted another blackboard with daily specials, so we are planning to return for the prime rib on Saturday!
Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak with 2 sides, okra and onion rings. He declared the CFS was one of the better ones he had eaten. Our food was served fairly quickly.
Ashley presented our bill and we noticed the burger price increased to $12.99 and tea was an additional charge, so we asked about the price increase in a matter of less than an hour. She acted surprised, but said she would see why the price increased and she promptly returned with a corrected bill reflecting the blackboard price.

We were very happy with our first evening meal here, and went back the next night. We had two different servers, but they were both very helpful and friendly. All the food here is cooked from scratch - even the desserts. The food might take a few minutes longer to arrive, because it is not precooked like in many places. I did not think their chili was that great - but this is just a reflection of my taste in chili, and not a negative on the restaurant itself. They have a nice small salad bar.

Comfy Texas style surroundings - nice menu variety.
Great salad bar and food was tasty.
Steaks were a bit over cooked for med rare and not the best cut for the price paid - had 10oz Maverick Ribeye.
Crab cakes were pretty good.
Sweet potato fries were very good.
Waitress was a bit new or distracted - how to wait for drinks to be refilled.
Seems to be a good place for locals to eat big and enjoy themselves.
Would go back!
Be sure to park in back for easy access.

I ordered the sirloin because I was told TJ’s steaks were good. Boy was I disappointed. Even with the steak knife I could barely cut it much less eat it. The waitress saw this and said she would take it back because it was a bad cut. After 10 mins the same plate/steak was brought back cold and she said the manager said they are all like that. I was unable to eat the steak and the green beans had no flavor. I had to pay $2 more to get cheese and sour cream for the baked potato. When the waitress brought the check she told us she tried to get us a discount but the manager said no. Needless to say, I will not be going back there again! Very bad meal.

Lunch today on their outside deck was great. Service was very good and our server (Monica) checked on us frequently.
We both had the Ahi Tuna (my wife the salad and me the entre) The tuna was a good medium rare and tasty. My baked potato was served cold and I think it was a "leftover" from last night's dinner service. It was replace with an order of some of the best home made onion rings I have had.
We will be back, probably on Saturday for their prime rib special.

Came here for lunch with my husband. I had the stuffed flounder entree. Takes 30 mins to make but omg worth every minute!! Wonderful flavor in every bite. My husband has the chicken fried chicken with the gravy. He enjoyed it as well. He said the gravy had a great taste. We were stuffed so we didn’t have dessert, but we came back 5 hours later and enjoyed red velvet cake and double fudge chocolate cake. Please come by and enjoy a meal here. You won’t be disappointed!!

Real homemade food! Wow this place was a great stop on our way home after a day of hiking in Lost Maples. Everything was delicious. The motz sticks that are cut and hand breaded were amazing and I don’t usually like marinara sauce but theirs was really good! My chicken tenders were just as great with the house made ranch. My husband went for the cordon blue which takes 25-30 mins but was worth the wait. All in all we were very happy with this dining experience! The staff was also great, friendly, and on point!

We were a group of 8. Some of us received cold food after a long wait. I wonder if it was sitting on a counter waiting to be picked up. The ones who ordered large salads said they were just “ok” and they missed the salad bar. The chicken parmigiana had too much crust to taste the chicken. Our waitress was wonderful!

The food here is good and the service friendly and excellent. . But, unfortunately, in covid times, it seems reasonable to add that kind of assessment too. So...The tables were cleaned between visitors and while the servers were masked for the most part, the tables were too close for comfort...and they were filled up. Most patrons came in unmasked, The place is popular. The salad bar was well stocked, but covid times, makes one wary of salad bars. At any other time, I would give this place an unqualified 5 stars. But, if you are concerned about cavid, be vaccinated first.

The salad bar (surprising during Covid) was really good. Lots of fresh choices. The filet was not very tender, but sautéed veggies and baked potato were great. The waitress was hard to find. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and decor.

Our family dined here on recommendation from a local outfitter. The onion rings as an appetizer were light and delicious! The fresh ahi tuna plate was great as well as the Akaushi Beef Hamburger- which is the best burger I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommend!

TJ's at the Old Forge was recommended to us by the staff where we were staying for the weekend. We are so glad they sent us there. The first night we had Lemon Caper Penne Pasta and Linguini Alfredo with chicken added. Both were delicious. We had enough left over to take back to our hotel for lunch the next day. The evening of the second night, we shared an order of meatloaf.... again very tasty. I read where someone mentioned the level of noise. The first night, the place was packed and very noisy! The second evening we were there before it begin to fill up and the noise level was fine. I recommend making reservations. They are not necessary but will save you a long wait. It is certainly on our list when we return to Bandera.

Not only was Bandera a great town to visit but the food at Tj's was just outstanding.
There is also a Cowboy Coffee in the upper level that has great coffee and pastries.
For sure we will return.........also don't miss the history museum. And the noon gunfight with Kelly, Norm and Ray.......what a hoot!

happened to visit on Trivia Thurs. That was fun and the place was packed, and we were seated upstairs. and consequentially our service was very slow.
Starters: Sea Hogs & chips with salsa and queso was great.
Main course: Rib eye med-rare was messed up, sent back once to get done. turned out bad. Chicken Parmesan was also mediocre, no great flavor. So didn't conclude well....
