Passed by while looking for Honda dealer so we turned back to check out lunch. Inside is dingy & somewhat dark with two people seated & eating & a waitress at the counter. Order pork plates with two sides & drinks at the counter, not...seated. Food arrived within a few min. Pork was bland with one chunk as big as pork chop, not pulled or chopped. Potato salad was overwhelming with sour cream. Squash was hot but clearly frozen store brand. Slices were up to 1/2 thick & slimy. Rolls were dry & stale. Overall, we both didn't like any of the food, wouldn't recommend & would not return.More

Based on the terrible behavior of the owner we opted to avoid Big Bad Marv’s. Could Marv have been intoxicated?

This BBQ came highly recommended from family nearby. This was our first time visiting Big Marv’s BBQ and will also be our last. We had placed a carry out order and were waiting in the parking lot for our food to be prepared when a...white truck comes barreling into the parking lot and almost hit two of my children that were standing in the lot behind our vehicle while we waited. When confronting the man that almost ran over my kids, it is then that he identifies himself as the owner, Big Marv himself. With a cross hanging from his rear view mirror and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth he berates us for being in his way to get to his apparent preferred parking space that is not identified in any way. We then tell him that he can cancel our order as we have no desire to pay this man for anything and he states “they weren’t making your order anyway.” Completely shocked by this man’s attitude and behavior as a human being much less as a small business owner. Shame on you, sir!More

This is some of the best BBQ we've ever had. The brisket is incredible and the banana pudding is to die for. We happily drive out of our way to enjoy their wares whenever were visiting the South Cumberland Plateau.

Big Marv has some of the best smoked meats around this part of the country. You can't try it all at one sitting, so you'll have to come back a few times to decide your favorite.

Many a times I stop by Holts just to get two pieces of chicken and a couple vegetables with cornbread. Super quality, good selection, and gigantic pieces of their chicken breasts at reasonable prices.

My friend was raving about this place, so we decided to go for lunch. It's a little misleading because the closed sign was hanging on the door. The hours that they have posted right next to the "closed" sign clearly stated that it was open....Considering that there were other cars in the lot, we took our chances and pushed on the door. Well, what do you know....it opened. Yay! I am getting ready to move to the PNW. I won't be able to get good southern BBQ for a while, so I was pretty excited about the pulled pork. We waited a good 10-15 minutes once we were seated for anyone to even come to our table. At this point there were only 3- 4 people at the bar, and us. Once the waitress did arrive at the table, she stated "We are about out of pork, so I wouldn't order that if I were you. I mean you can, but we are about to run out." At this point, I hadn't even looked at the menu, because I just wanted a pulled pork sandwich. Since I don't like to be rushed, and everyone else at the table had ordered, I just ordered what my friend ordered - a chicken potato. During the time it took for us to order, more people started coming in for lunch. Every person coming in ordered a PORK SANDWICH! I was a little confused when they were all getting their pork sandwich, and here I am eating a chicken potato. Let me just say that the food was really good. If I was ever craving a chicken potato, then I would definitely order it again. When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her of my disappointment that it was not what I wanted, but it was still good. She then stated "Oh, well soon after ya'll ordered, that person canceled their order, so now we have pork." I stated "Well, why didn't you come tell us??" She then asked "Do you still want one?" HA! Unless, you are going to give it to me to take home, no I don't want one. I just ate the chicken potato! I boxed up half of my potato to take home with me because they are huge. I went to the bar to ask for a little to-go cup for the sauce, and she said that she would have to charge me! Really!? So take home points 1. Even though it says they are closed, they are probably open, 2. if they say they are out of pork, then order it anyways! and 3. Just pour the sauce in your to go box. Who cares if it gets on everything. #bitterpartyofoneMore
