Outside atmosphere was terrific. Food was really good for breakfast. Wait staff was quick and very friendly. Will definitely go back there.

Burger was noting exceptional - but the mac and cheese was very good and I got a TON of friend okra! The sides were excellent. I would eat here again. Staff was friendly and we got our meal quickly - which is always appreciated because...I usually wait until I am starved before going out to eat.More

My husband found this place doing an internet search. We were awed with the scenery driving in. It looks like driving into an enchanted forest. The Bistro itself appears grow out of the groundas it compliments the forest surrounding it. After being seated our waiter...and trainer introduced themselves, Tanner & Chris, who asked if we were celebrating anything. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary. They congratulated us and went through the dinner menu. Tanner described the menu items so eloquently it made us both want to to try one of each. Chris was soaking up every word. We had chosen the Green Goddess salad, I the Tenderloin, and hubby the Double Cut Pork Chop. This is not just your normal tenderloin, it's enhanced with rosemary mashed potatoes, charred broccolini, roasted mushrooms, and a house made steak sauce. The steak was cooked pefectly. Hubbys pork chop was complimented the by Farro, marinated squash, sorghum bbq sauce & cashew gremolata. We both enjoyed every bite. Tanner informed us that they grew some items on site and sourced others locally. Our entire vist was magical. Tanner & Chris, thanks for the experience.More

We have enjoyed wonderful meals and the ambiance 3 times previously. Maybe the server decided to judge a book by its cover since I was not up for more than some slacks and a t-shirt as my 12 year old and I visited tonight and...were treated like we were at a Burger King. The food was flavorful and portions appropriate as usual. They lost their chef so it was not top notch, but acceptable . There were literally 4 tables outside, 3 of which were served and or on desert. The food came out and they walked past our table and then auctioned off our meals. At $38 and $42 a plate I don't want to be asked if we ordered the beef tenderloin and trout as the only 2 top out of the 4 outside tables. After mentioning this to our server, the service stopped. The last thing I recall was him dropping off our check saying "here you go" while on his way to a table of 4 eldery adults to tell them what a pleasure it was serving them tonight. If I'm going to spend $125 for me and my son on dinner, this is unacceptable. Unfortunately will think twice before going back on our next trip to Townsend in a few months.More

We recently had dinner at the Dancing Bear Bistro. This is an incredible restaurant with top notch food, an incredible find in a small tourist town. The setting is beautiful, surrounded with lush green lawns, wildflowers, roses and trees. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner on...the outside deck area of the restaurant. I'm not sure how they did it, but there was not a mosquito anywhere to be seen. The food was incredible, the best cheeseburger I have ever had, cooked to perfection. The trout was a generous portion, exquisitely seasoned and delicious. Everyone, from the hostess to server, was gracious and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is absolutely worth the price.More

We were trying to find a restaurant for dinner at the last minute for my husband and I. We called and were asked if we had reservations, we said we did not. We were able to come anyway. We had the Appalachian Hotpot, which included...salmon, scallops, cornbread, a few pea pods, a few carrots, 2 peppers, 4 little onions, grits, and lobster bisque. First of all this is definitely Appalachian food. The cornbread was crunchy and horrible. The restaurant is very expensive and we were sitting outside near a fireplace of some sort. We actually got rather hot. My recommendation is be a bistro. Take Appalchian out of your name.More

The service was very good. The food was okay but not impressive. The background music was way too loud. I would say it was a nice meal but no where near the value for the money. Two of us had 2 drinks each, entrees, no...dessert, cost including tip was $200. Save your money.More
