Very friendly service and good food. Plate prices may be a little higher ($12 - $14) but you get apple fritters, apple butter, juice julep, soup, your plate with two sides. We were sitted immediately at 1:20 PM and drinks and food served very quickly. We plan to go back this week again for lunch.

We visited for lunch, and waited approximately 35 minutes for a table. We sat on the front porch rocking chairs while we waited. As we were seated, we were offered to sit in a regular table, or a porch swing seat table. Our girls were thrilled with the opportunity to sit in a porch swing seat to eat. Our server was quick and friendly. She presented us with the complementary apple julip and apple fritters with apple butter. They were awesome and quickly disappeared. Our food was served promptly, hot, and delicious. The meal was great, and the atmosphere was charming. The food portions were huge, and we needed a to go box. While on property, we also visited the general store, cider mill, and candy shop. Each of those were great, and we purchased some goodies to take home with us. The apple cider is delicious, and the hard apple cider tasting was even better. For $5, you get to taste each type of hard cider. The property is clean, and the staff seems like they enjoy working there. This was a great find, and worth the trip.

We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know of your visit. We are so glad you enjoyed it. Our porch swings are a big hi with the young and the old. A very unique way to enjoy a meal

We loved the Applewood farmhouse restaurant. It was a bit of a wait, but you had a pretty view of the river and a great atmosphere, so it really isn’t a problem. The food was excellent, the complimentary juice is out of this world, and the apple fritters were superb! The meals were all reasonably price and our waitress was just as sweet as she could be. We enjoyed a nice walk after our breakfast to look in the shops. It was my first time visiting the apple barn, and I will be coming back :)

We chose to go here for dinner and it was a disaster. Order was placed and it was not until the server brought the salads did she say that the entree my wife ordered would take about 10 minutes.
The net result was the server came back to the table and beat around the bush that there was a problem. It took over 20 minutes for her to tell us that the game hen entree that was ordered wasn't being served. Keep in mind on the menu it is noted as being "NEW". We decided to leave since we wwre at about 30 minutes since ordering drinks amd the rest of our section has turned over once at each of the 6 tables. I asked for a manager and the general manager came out - he should have been the one to tell us to begin with. He offered to "make it right" but this was only when we were already at the door where I was speaking to him.
Terrible communication and terrible service. We have a choice of where we spend and this establishment and collection of shops will not be it.

We apologize that you did not enjoy your visit with us. We do cook the hens to order, they are freshly battered and fried and they do take 15 to 20 minutes to cook. I know that took a little longer than that this time, for that we apologize. Monica was your server and she is one of our best. She has never received a complaint up until this point. You can go throughout Trip Advisor and see her name mentioned over and over again, never anything under a 5-star rating.. So I dont know what went wrong this time. Our General manager wanted to take care of your meal and we would still like to do that if you wish to come visit us again. Again we never want a guest to leave unhappy and we will do whatever we can to make this a place to come visit again and again. If you would like to discuss this more please contact me. amorrell@stokelyhospitality.com

The service was fine. The apple fritters were good as always. The meals are way overpriced for the quality. For my husband’s pork chop plate and my vegetable plate, we paid $45. We won’t be returning.

Eggs ordered "over medium" came runny for multiple people in our party. Complimentary fritters were nothing special but the homemade apple butter was excellent. Bananas foster waffle was tasty but could have used more topping. Service was friendly and efficient and the atmosphere of the old farmhouse kitchen decor was warm and inviting. The place was lavishly decorated for the holiday season making it very festive and beautiful. We arrived just prior to the end of the breakfast serving time but they accommodated us. We enjoyed our family meal here on our last day of our pre-Christmas trip to the mountains. The grounds are lovely and offer several areas/shops for walking, browsing and shopping. This was a nice one-time stop but we probably wouldn't go out of our way to come again.

The reputation of this restaurant lives up to its hype! Although renowned primarily for its Apple fritters with Apple jam (complimentary with every meal), what we also were surprised by was the wonderful quality and taste of all their dishes we tried. The Applewood pork chops were perfectly cooked - moist and tender on the inside, but crisp with grill marks on the outside. The beef stew had meat which just melted in your mouth, and was well seasoned. What we were most surprised by was each meal had a complimentary salad, soup, dessert, coupled with two additional sides of your choosing. Cost wise, extremely reasonable - to the point where we were wondering how they would make a profit off of their customers. While there is a long wait, (granted we went during the spring break time), next to the restaurant are some local shops including a cider mill which you can explore. Across the road is a beautiful river which you can take a walk through and enjoy nature, We ended up going the route of take out each of our trips, and in 20-25 minutes the food was ready. This restaurant is a must for anyone traveling through Tennessee! Will definitely make it a point of visiting this restaurant again the next time we visit!

This is an excellent local restaurant, as is the whole Apple Barn Complex. The service was great. At this restaurant, you order your meat, and you pick your sides, soup, and desert included in the price. Julep and apple fritters also come to the table included. When you consider that, the price isn't too bad. I had the vegetable plate, vegetable soup, and apple cobbler and it was all amazing.

We have eaten here before and it was very good. Today was not, the pancakes were soooo greasy, the ham and cheese omelette was mostly cheese, very little ham. They were also out of mix for the apple muffins which is the best thing they have. All the breakfasts were average $10- will definitely go somewhere else next time

It looks like I am in the minority, but we had a small group of 11 people for dinner this past week and it was very disappointing. The service was very good, but the quality of the food was not good at all. I had the fish and I should have paid more attention as it was marked NEW on the menu. It was so oily that when I cut through the breading on the fish, the oil actually oozed out. My wife had chicken and dumplings and the chicken was very tough and the dumplings were nothing like either of us have ever tasted before. It was a very generous portion, but not edible. The mashed potatoes were thin and a bit on the soft side and tasted like instant mashed potatoes. One of the other guys had chicken fried steak and it was dry and overcooked. I will say that of all eleven meals, one of the people ordered the grilled pork chops and those looked and, according to her, tasted quite nice. Based on other reviews, maybe we caught them on a bad day. Typically, my wife and I split a meal because neither of us are big eaters, but they charged $8 for splitting a meal. I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant.

I heard some really good reviews from some friends so I decided to give it a try. We went on Sunday right as lunch was starting and saw that this place fills up fast. This is good ol' comfort food and you get a lot of it. Come hungry or split it with a friend. We got Sunday dinner, so for 16.99, you chose a main dish which came with mashed potatoes, 2 other sides, and dessert. I ordered the chicken pot pie which is huge (it was really good), coleslaw (which I loved, but everyone has a coleslaw preference), the dressing (it was ok), and the best mashed potatoes ever. They were salty, buttery, and really made me miss my grandma. Even before you order, they bring you apple fritters and an apple julep. Service was fast, the waitresses were nice and the place was clean. Now that I know what I get, I will have to come really hungry. Drinks do cost 2.99, so next time I will just drink my free apple julep with the water. Make sure to check out all the shops when you're done. It's alot to work off.

We have been coming to Gatlinburg since 1984 and have been eating at the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant since it first opened soon thereafter. It was always on our list of places to go during each visit to The Smokies. In the early days, we always left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. It never disappointed. However, times have changed. We ate there on our trip two years ago and vowed we'd never go back. Several items in our meals tasted either on the verge of going bad or seasoned with something odd (a perfumy taste). It has been slipping through the years with each visit.
On this visit, due to getting a late start one morning, all restaurants had a long wait list, so we went against our better judgment and ended up at Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant for lunch. The Applewood Julep, Apple Fritters, and veggie soup were good, as usual. The main entrees and sides were not good. We are a family that uses more salt than most when we cook/eat. My husband and I had the Farmhouse Trio and all three items were almost too salty for even people like us to eat! I make corn casserole and sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving, so I know what these two items are supposed to look and taste like. The corn casserole should be a little sweet. It had no seasoning whatsoever. The sweet potato casserole looked like it had been poured out of a pitcher! It was just liquidy glop. The rest of the food was just okay. It certainly wasn't great like it used to be. We're also a family that hates to waste food and whenever we have leftovers, we take them home to eat later. We took nothing home from this meal.
We aren't rich and we save all year in order to go on vacation. When we pay $100 for a meal for four, we expect to get a decent meal. That's a good chunk of our vacation money for a meal that was substandard. This coming from a restaurant with such a good reputation is very disheartening.

I could have had a better breakfast at McDonald's. I went because of all the good reviews, but I don't get it. The eggs were quite ordinary and runny, the "sausage" was two silver dollars of mealy dryness that were worse than vegetarian substitutes, and the home fries were cold and undercooked. I have never had home fries without at least a little crust on them. Everything is served on the worst cheap red plastic dishes that I have only seen at the worst nursing homes. The covid-style side of watery grits was no treat either. Do not waste your time driving here to this tourist trap that slings out garbage to the masses. Extremely disappointing.

I was meeting some friends here for dinner so I looked over the menu while waiting so I would have an idea of what I wanted. My friends arrived and we were escorted to the dining room where they offer tables with both chairs and swings, yes, swings! Like porch swings! It was so cool! However, the three of us chose a table with all chairs so we could all visit and enjoy our meal and our visit. The food was great and everything tasted fresh and homemade. We all enjoyed the complimentary apple juleps, apple fritters and apple butter before our meal arrived. I would highly recommend this place and go hungry!

We would not go here again! Staff was not very friendly, the food tasted like it came straight out of a can with minimal flavor. If you like eating food that is not very healthy and with lots of salt but no other taste, then, yes, go here. Otherwise, no no and no.
