The Soup Kitchen is located in historic Jackson Square, a storefront in this "Secret City's" town center built during World War II. The food is great, be it soup, sandwich, salads, desserts or homemade breads. I love their Chili topped with Fritos and cheese or their incredible Gratin Savoyard--a creamed spinach soup though there are always many intriguing and delicious... More

Soup kitchen is a eclectic little place that serves good soup, excellent breads and where you sometimes have to wait a while in line. There is always a wide variety of soups, and an equally wide variety of breads and desserts to choose from. The soups are filling, the servings generous. You'll generally spend about $10, so while it's not... More

Excellent selection of delicious home made soups, breads and deserts. Very down home charm. They only serve lunch and dinner and usually have a line at lunch time. This is a local favorite and very affordable.

If you like history and good food, The Soup Kitchen in Oak Ridge is a great choice. Set up like a cafeteria line, you can pick from a variety of soup and sandwiches. Built during the heyday of the secret city, the building's ambience is wonderful.

We had the snow crab, split pea, chicken noodle and potato soups. If you buy 2half bowls they charge you for one whole. Nice little tip. Potato needed salt but the others were delicious. Must try the cheese bread. Ask for extra butter. They only give out one pat. Also ordered a sandwich. Ordinary. Stuck with the soup.

I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. It is truly hit and miss. Be sure to know where the pepper is because you might need it. The staff is friendly and it is a warm place to visit. Last time I had a dud bowl of soup, I felt bad for not liking it. One thing they... More

I've been here many times over the years. Congratulations, Soup Kitchen, for your success in what I believe is your original location in Oak Ridge. I like the simple and straightforward concept. I like the bread on the side. Your people are nice. How could you get a five star review? Two things, and they are very simple. Please, I... More

We came here for lunch whilst attending a course and when we got there the queue was long which was a good sign. Despite this we were served promptly and there was a vast array of choices, sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. I went for the potato soup with homemade bread and didn't regret my choice. Thick and creamy with a... More

A local favorite with a daily changing variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. They normally have 10-12 different soups every day. This has been a favorite of locals and tourists alike for over 30 years. It has lots of décor relating to the history of Oak Ridge and the founding of the "Secret City".
